Everything about our stay was great. The activities director needs to create better entertainment however, it was better than nothing. Overall Bahia Principe Cayacoa is a wonderful resort with great stuff and great food. The only problem we had is the room that was first given to us. The resort itself is pretty big and there's three different places that rooms are located at. First one is the main building, the one you see on the pictures when you go the website. Second part is a three […] floor buildings little bit farther from the main hotel with its own beach and bar near by, but to get to the main beach or main restaurant you either have to take the stairs up or wait for a golf cart to pick you up. The third one is the so called village, with the bunch of little houses. This part also has its own beach and bar, very good for those who want to be separated from the world and have some quality time. Either of three is great depending of what are you looking for during your vacation. We were given room in the village part and this was totally not what we wanted or expected, The room was dark with one little window with the view to the next house, we actually paid for the sea view room, which we didn't get, An hour or complaining got us a normal room in the main building with the great view, even though it was a much smaller room. Food was great, a lot to choose from. If all you want to do is enjoy the food, sun, sea and the beauty of the Mother Nature you should definitely go to this resort. Other than that there's nothing to do. Jetski was prohibited recently there in Samana, speed boats are only in the town. Read more

The views are beautiful, the buffet plentiful and the staff friendly. It has the potential to be a 4 or 5 star hotel but there are LOTS of little things that need to be corrected. Everyday I had to call for wash cloths, the "gourmet" restaurants are much less than gourmet. The food is only ok and the service is less than that. Excellent staff, beautiful views of the area (Samana and ocean). Perfect weather. Although the hotel is very clean it is in need of repairs which were obvious in areas,especially electrical work. Its about two and half hours to get to the hotel from the capital Santo Domingo. We were lucky to have a friend that picked us from the airport in taxi and drove us to the main place where the bus gets you to Samana. We spend around $25.00 in transportation each way by using this bus. But again, we knew someone that lives in the area. . We arrived a […] little early but had a quick and pleasant check in. The food is amazing. They had a different theme everynight in the restaurant. If you wish to reserve for a espefic restaurant please do so in advance our as soon as you arrive. We only had one change to get to El Pescador, which specializes in seafood and the food was great. They had good security, so only guests staying can use the facilities. The hotel has one big... main pool with a pool bar right in it and a second one which is more secluded. You dont have to walk far if you need refreshments or something to eat or munch when the buffet is close, there are bars almost in each spot, meaning one near the lobby, one in the beach area, one in each pool. The only thing is that to go to the second pool they have a small trolley that gets you there and when coming back to the hotel you may have to wait a little bit... but we had so much fun. They also have a trolley that runs everyhour from 10:00am and gets you to Puerto Principe, which were they have stores to buy small gifts and souveniers. This Hotel is best for couples, is has a lot of walking but it is enjoyable if you are well accompanied. The Food, the Beach and the pool were good. The only part I felt was lagging was the entretainment, we didn't see much of anything... So it's a great resort for those who are really looking for R&R.

Great place for a romantic getaway. Do Recommend a Junior Suite upgrade. Awesome views from our balcony. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Food variety and quality was above average. We enjoyed all Live shows. Gran Bahia makes an all-inclusive vacation stress free. Job well done.

I loved the hotel & it's views, the ocean view room - HIGHLY recommended, the pool was cool, the beach wasn't bad, and the food wasn't bad at all. HOWEVERRRRR - we were supposed to check out of the hotel on a Thurs, but we find out that Wed. late afternoon that there was going to be a TWO-DAY transit strike by the civilians of Samana (due to more tolls […] being built & the gov. having no compassion for the lower income folks). My wife found out BY COINCIDENCE at a gift shop, and the hotel didn't care to let folks know at all. Their solution to the issue? Remain in the hotel throughout the two-day strike AND PAY FOR IT. When we found out about it, it was too late to take a charter bus service back to Santo Domingo, where we were going next, so we had to pay a TWO HUNDRED DOLLAR CAB RIDE AT NIGHT all because those fools at the hotel didn't care to inform anyone. That's the only gripe I really had at the hotel, and it was due largely in part to them. I would recommend the hotel otherwise. Read more

Casino - non existent in the hotel - requires shuttle service and it isn't as efficient or reliable as you would want as you are going into an unsecure area. Poor service - a lot of small children so pools are constantly crowded and noisy. Buffet service has an attractive restaurant, but the food is not of the same quality. Sugary drink vs good fresh […] squeezed juice, bland foods covered with flavored sauces - poor preparation. Not somewhere you want to go if you are an adult and are looking for a quiet relaxing get away - you wind up frustrated and angry. Overall, this is an amazing hotel for the price. It is beautiful with its private beach and pools. The food was delicious most of the time, so I cannot complain. The most annoying thing was dealing with exchanging a card you're given an check-in for a towel (to use the beach/ pool). You're told that you need to return the card at the end of your stay, […] or else you'd get charged. However, when we went to the pool center that holds the cards, no one who worked there could find any of our cards, so they told us not to worry about it. Upon check-out, the front desk attendant was angry with us for not bringing this card back and was trying to charge us for "losing it." At the end of the day, we were not charged, but it was frustrating that the staff can't find a better way to deal with their broken system. Another issue was that the printed schedules are wrong, and most of the workers did not know when a "scheduled" event was supposed to take place. The hotel is beautiful & luxurious looking, wonderful staff, all very attentive, helpful & readily available. Our Standard Seaview room had an amazing view, not only of the sea but of the grounds, our beach & most beautiful sunrise. Our room also walked right out into their gorgeous courtyard. Their snack bar & bars conveniently located, amazing beaches & walking down to Santa Barbara Samana is only 10 minutes(most opt to be driven but the walk is nice) & the locals are lovely welcoming people. To be fair we didn't have running hot water all the time for our showers, & their in-room lighting could use an update to add to the luxury feel (it's their first built hotel apperantely), but very very minor details to us compared to our overall stay for the week. Bel hôtel dans l'ensemble mais éloigné du village. Ils proposent une navette toutes les heures mais ne le disent pas à votre arrivée. Très belle vue de l'hôtel car en hauteur. Belle chambre mais baignoire bouchée. Ils sont intervenus, ils ont laissés le tapis de bain noir et de l'eau. Le lendemain, bouchée à nouveau, le résultat a été le même malgré […] 3 signalements et toute la semaine. Le téléphone n'a jamais fonctionné bien que signalé plusieurs fois. La carte électronique de la porte s'est désactivée. Ils n'ont pas réussi a la réactiver. Finalement, ils sont rentrés par la fenêtre et ont dû la forcer. Heureusement que nous étions au 1er étage. Nous avons pu rentrer dans la chambre au bout de deux heures. Nous étions logés dans une chambre près de la plage. Il faut donc prendre une petite navette qui fait le trajet entre l'hôtel et les chambres. Attente pouvant aller jusqu'à 10 mn. La nourriture n'a rien d'exceptionnelle. Au cours de la semaine, nous avons pu comparer avec Le Grand Baya del Portillo, car on vous propose pour vous vendre du time share d'aller passer une demi-journée dans cet hôtel qui est nettement mieux, la plage est un vrai lagon comparée à Samana. insgesamt sind wir zufrieden mit dem Aufenthalt. Schade, dass es mit dem Internet nicht geklappt hat. Von Ihrer Mitarbeiterin hörten wir, Internet sei inbegriffen, vor Ort mussten wir aber dennoch bezahlen. Die WiFi Zone in der Hotelhalle war miserabel, sehr schlechte Verbindung und immer wieder Unterbrechungen oder sehr lange Ziet für den Seitenaufbau. […] Sehr schade ist auch, dass nur ein kleiner Strand vorhanden ist. Unangenehm aufgefallen ist, dass wir mehrere Male von Personen im Hotel angesprochen wurden, die uns einen Gratispreis offerierten und am Schluss stellte sich heraus, dass sie uns einfach eine Mitgliedschaft anhängen/aufschwatzen wollten. In diesem Zusammenhang haben wir sehr negative Erfahrungen gemacht mit 2 Mitarbeitern im Hotel in El Protillo. Die beiden waren so überaus freundlich, solange sie glaubten wir würden uns für Ihre Dienstleistungen interessieren. Als wir aber klar signalisierten, dass wir kein Interesse hätten, war die Freundlichkeit, die Servicequalität die Kundenaufmerksamkeit dahin. Obwohl sie uns versicherten, dass wir ein Geschenk erhalten würden, uns dort verpflegen könnten und Gratisgetränke hätten, war danach alles vorherige nur Geschwätz. L'Hôtel est SUPER Dommage que nous ayons eu la mauvaise surprise de ne pas avoir le transfert prévu à la sortie de l'aéroport surtout en arrivant en pleine nuit, surtout qu'aucun commentaire sur la réservation ne stipulé cette information (presque 400 euros de transport aller-retour non compris dans nos frais, cela est tout à fait inadmissible !!!)

Vet ikke om "All Inclusive" er noe for oss. Maten og vin var helt grei, vinen kanskje OK minus. Rene, fine og komfortable rom. Hjelpsomme folk, men stedet er en liten "boble". Samana er et mindre fint område, men hotellet ligger for seg selv.
