"Clean hotel 10 mins from Venice's main bus station"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The rooms were clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The included buffet breakfast consisted of eggs, cold meat, cereal and fresh baked croissants. This hotel is great value! It is a 10 minute walk from the Mestre bus/train station, next door to a supermarket and close to kebab/pizza restaurants and some pubs. It is very easy to get into central Venice. There is a bus right across the street that comes every 10 mins and takes about 12 mins to get to the main bus station in Venice. It costs a little over a euro one way and you can get the ticket at the reception (along with vaporetta tickets). Keep in mind though that st.mark's square is about a 35 min walk from Piazalle Roma ( the bus station). Unless you want to lug your bags through the narrow, busy streets and (many) staircases of Venice and pay a fortune for a dump, I would recommend staying in the Mestre area and this hotel was great value for the money.

Loved this hotel. Best price and great amenities. I am a bit of a hotel snob and this one delivered great
"Venice May 2012"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
We stayed 1 night only and were very happy with the hotel. Dont forget to get you key from Hotel Luca as the Casa Dolce has no reception. The feeling of the hotel is as you were resident of Venice. We highly recommend it.

"Cramp but comfortable"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Hotel was very clean and nice, everyone was friendly, very close to mostly all the sights, but what isnt in venice right? Great restaurants nearby, and close to the vaparetto station and bus station! Only problem was, the shower head was not connected to the wall, which is like this is most European hotels, and the rooms was extremely crampt. other then that, 4 stars!

San Marco (St Mark’s) is quintessential visitors’ Venice. The Piazza San Marco, famous for its pigeons, campanile, basilica, Palazzo Ducale (Doge’s Palace) and expensive cafes, is unmissable. The waterfront views are legendary and more gondolas depart from here than anywhere else in the city. In season the Piazza teems with day trippers though just a block or two away streets are quiet and offer more museums and palaces to explore.

Cozy but impeccable rooms, convenient to Rialto and San Marco. The desk staff is polyglot and remarkably knowledgeable and friendly. And -- small point -- compared to other Italian hotel breakfasts (although this is our first 4-star) this one is a winner.
"Great hotel!"
Staff was very friendly and helpful, hotel in central location and very nice and clean
"Wonderful Stay...if you can find it!"
Hotel Al Codega was phenomenal and the service exceptional however finding it at night with heavy luggage was very stressful & literally we had to rely on a friendly gondoleer to walk us to the hotel having walked in circles around the dizzying Venice streets. For those who stay I can recommend the following. Take the Vaporetto #1 to Rialto Bridge and […] then proceed only along a predetermined route checked and double checked via google earth or bing maps. Deviation from a set path in Venice is like walking into a Labyrinth. The hotel is "tucked" in what seems like a hidden and secret location...so super stay if you can find it! Read more
"A gem in Venice!"
We loved our stay at this hotel. The room was luxurious and clean. The bed was the most comfortable that we had in Europe - and quiet! We opened a window one night for some fresh air and couldn't believe the noise outside! We never heard a sound with the window closed, or from adjacent rooms. There is a computer for guests to use, and a working elevator. […] The breakfast was wonderful - you could stuff yourself if you aren't careful. The concierge was most helpful to us getting around a confusing city and seeing the sights. We stayed two nights, and wanted to stay longer, but our cruise ship would have left without us! Read more
"Great Hotel"
Great hotel - awesome location, price, service. Room was very nice and clean - + very quiet. Breakfast very good too. The staff could not have been more helpful - also made great restaurant recommendations.
"Hotel Al Codega--perfect location"
Great place to stay. Staff very helpfull, friendly, arranged for airport transportation, recommended a good restraunt., and gave us some ideas of where to visit. Hotel clean and updated. Location was perfect between the Realto Bridge and St. Mark's Square. Follow the map from the hotel exactly and you'll be able to find it. Turn left at the Armani Store […] and follow the ALLEY to the first opening on the right hand side. It is inside the courtyard. Would stay there again. Read more
"Excellent Choice!!!! Great Experience"
We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to those visiting Venice. It met and exceeded all of our expectations: clean, comfortable, excellent staff, great location, quite, completely updated, great breakfast, comfortable beds, on and on! We stayed in 4 locations during our honeymoon in Italy in November and this one was clearly the BEST! Book it […] and enjoy this magical city!!!!! Read more

"Loved the Hotel Al Codega"
It is a little tricky to find , at first, but the Hotel Al Codega is worth looking for! It is in a quiet courtyard so you aren't awakened by the bells of St Marks at 7 a.m. like we were in another hotel we had booked for the same trip... The staff is warm and friendly - very helpful and our room was beautiful and very clean (something we also didn't […] find in the other hotel). The breakfast buffet was adequate. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to St. Marks in one direction and about a 2 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge in the other direction. Read more
"Great location, helpful staff, spotlessly clean"
Loved the hotel....will definitely stay there again when we return to Venice.
"Loved Al Codega but tough to find!"
Loved Al Codega. We were 6 in 3 rooms and all enjoyed our stay immensely. It is tough to find but if you can find Armani you're almost there. The map they provide is inadequate and needs more detail. Lugging bags to and from the boats is tiresome. Ask for a porter who knows the hotel's location. Only one negative - went two mornings to procure an early […] cup of coffee to take to my room before getting ready for breakfast and had no problem. On morning three, I was told that it was "Not possible!." It was explained that "The Owner doesn't permit! You must call room service!" OK, I gave up. After all it was all of 50 feet to my room! "Fabulous location, close to everything!"
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Al Codega. The staff was very helpful. Room was beautiful. Location was fantastic, two min walk to St Marks.
"Hotel Al Codega in Venice"
This beautiful hotel is set in a quiet courtyard, only minutes from St. Mark square and the Rialto bridge. They have a lovely continental breakfast each morning - including amazing bruschetta. "Hotel Al Cordega"
We absolutely love this hotel. The only thing is it's very difficult to find. They are tucked away in a little alcove. It is very very quiet and if you want to take the airport bus you can get to that in 5 minutes withoutd crossing any bridges. They serve a wonderful breakfast, with hot eggs, fruitsalad, fresh tomato (from their own garden) on toasted […] bread, croissants, or toast. Read more
"Hotel Al Codega, Venice, Italy"
This was a real treat to stay at. Close to the Rialto Bridge in Venice, it is an easy walk from the water bus landing. The staff was very friendly and accomodating and went out of their way to help us in any way they could.
"hotel Al Codega, Venice Italy"
Excellent hotel near Rialto Bridge and Saint Marks Square. Lovely, charming, good breakfast, clean comfortable room. Don't be put off by the location or the entrance. Have to take elevator up to reception. Located in a quiet courtyard just steps from the heart of Venice. Hard to find at first but well worth the effort. In Venice, some streets are narrow […] and some have buildings over the street (looks more like a hallway). Read more

"Beautiful hotel, excellent service"
Extremely friendly and helpful staff, beautiful and ultra-clean room and common areas...truly a pleasure to stay here!!!
"Hotel Al Cotega"
This was an excellent hotel for the price. The service was excellent. They gave us a great referral for a restaurant. It was conveniently located inbetween St. Marks Square and the Rialto. Unlike most beds in Europe, the beds were comfortable. A bit hard to find however. But what isn't in Venice.
"Convenient Location"
The hotel is located about halfway between the Rialto Bridge and St. Marks Square, the two biggest tourist sites. It has a little better room rate because it is not on the water. It is hard to find the first time because it is on the inside an open area, which is only accessible from a small street. Hotel room was clean and comfortable. The staff was […] helpful and friendly. The free breakfast was terrific. Read more
"A surprise in Vencie"
From what I had heard and found in other hotel reviews, I was expecting a small, tight room in Venice. My husband ultimately selected this hotel on line and what a surprise. The room was surprisingly roomy, with a separate sitting area and king size bed. Bathroom was a very good size as well. To top it off, the staff could not have been more accommodating. "Great Hotel"
Great location. Very helpful Service. Close to all the best parts of the island. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in the San Marco area of Venice.
"Hotel Al Codega in Venice, great location"
We highly enjoyed the Hotel Al Codega in Venice. It can be a bit hard to find, but faces its own small courtyard, so very quiet. Best part is that there are no bridges to cross from the Rialto stop on either the #1 Vaparetto or the Alilaguna. Perfect! Well decorated, good size rooms, very helpful staff.
"great little gem."
This is a hotel right in the middle of Venice. Hard to find at first, needs some signs but when you get there, Brand new room, very comfortable, walking distance to San Marco square and Rialto bridge. Small room but very well appointed. New bathroom. I would definitely come back some day
"Hotel al Codega"
A small, quaint hotel. A little hard to find, but very convenient location, between St. Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Spoke excellent English, continental breakfast was included with our reservation. All-in-all would recommend for a nice, quiet stay in Venice.
"Charming hotel"
Probably the best hotel overall during our trip throughout Italy. The breakfast was about average, meaning that it is okay for a couple of days, but not more. I need eggs and bacon after a while. The room was very charming, clean, quiet and pretty big for Italian standards.
"Al Codega Venice Italy"
IT is not easy to find superior hotels in "hot destination spots" like Paris or Venice where room also is at a premium. The hotel Al Codega therefore surprised us! What a lovely experience! First class, quaint, charming, clean, attentive staff: it had it all! Granted, the location was a bit difficult: but that is Venice with all of its winding narrow […] allyways! Although it was super well located relative to two key points of interest: The Rialto Bridge and St. Marks Square, it was quiet, set off by itself in a small square. Overall, a very wonderful stay!!!!!! Highly recommended. Read more

"Hotel Al Codega - A Very Pleasant Surprise"
While a little difficult to find, like everything on Venice, we were VERY pleased with the location, condition and value of this hotel.........continental breakfast was GREAT!
"Al Codega-- A Hidden Gem"
This hotel is a Hidden Gem. Hidden, because it is a bit tucked away in a quiet, lovely little inner courtyard, ideally situated about halfway between St. Mark's Square and Ponte Rialto. It is a pure gem. My wife and I have no criticism of this lovely hotel. The room was very nice, the staff friendly and spoke excellent English. "Perfect Location for a weekend in Venice"
Despite the challenge of finding the hotel for the first time (it's located in a private courtyard that is off the beaten path) the Hotel Al Codega was a perfect spot for a romantic weekend in Venice. Well positioned between the Rialto Bridge and St. Marks Square you can walk just about anywhere quickly. The rooms were new, and the hotel was very clean. […] Breakfast included fresh meats, breads and pastries - enough to get your day started with some energy for all the walking required in Venice. The staff spoke excellent English and was very helpful in giving directions, recommending restaurants and making bookings for meals and transportation. We enjoyed our stay immensely and will definitely stay again when we return to Venice for a longer trip. Three days just isn't enough to really explore all the city has to offer. Read more

"Very cosy little hotel in the heart of Venice"
We really enjoyed our stay at the Al Codega - once we eventually found it! We had downloaded the hotel's map but we still coudn't find it when we arrived late one night. Eventually we did but there surely must be a better way of showing people how to find it (we used shops as landmarks in the end). Our room was clean - if a little small - and the bathroom […] was spotless. The bar is tiny and only seats a group of about 5/6 at once. Breakfast is fantastic - probably the best I've ever had in mainlnd Europe. I would return - and hope to soon. Read more

"An undiscovered gem!"
We stayed at the Al Codega for two nights in January 2012. It's not the easiest to find but the map from the hotel is accurate - trust it, even when it seems to send you down a tiny alleyway! Once there, you are in for a real treat! The hotel staff are friendly, speak excellent English and are a great source of information. The room was well-furnished, […] clean, spacious (though maybe not quite to American standards of size) and the bathroom was modern and spotless. The buffet Continental breakfast was substantial with lots of choice, including scrambled eggs. The other great thing about Al Codega is the location - its 5 minutes walk from the Railto in one direction and 6-7 minutes from St Marks in another, and 10 minutes to Academia Bridge in another. It's also close to shops and cafes. The best nearby restaurant we found was Bistrot de Venice - its not cheap but nowhere in Venice is! The tourist menu is the best value for less than 50 euro. Ask at hotel reception for directions. We would 100% recommend this hotel and I cant see how the few negative reviews on here were deserved as every aspect of our stay, for the price we paid, was first rate. Read more
"nice little hidden spot"
Very nice venetian style rooms, the staff are ultra friendly and polite. The rooms are clean and you get free wifi which I found very rare in Venice. Breakfast was also pretty good, overall 8/10 considering the star rating and price. main issue is the location for 1st time venice visitors...i found it very hard to find as Venice is a massive maze, […] its sort of tucked away in a court yard Read more

"Hotel Al Codega in Venice: uniquely Venetian"
Located in a former monastery, Hotel Al Codega lives up to its promise of comfort, convenience and being a genuine part of the Venetian experience. Located a short walk from St. Mark's Square along typical Venice alleys, you are immediately immersed in the unique nature of Venice through the simple act of getting to your hotel. The secluded, quiet square […] with its fountain leads to a modern, sensitively refurbished accomodation with a helpful, friendly staff and all the amenities one could wish for. It is an easy walk to the Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge as well as the Alilaguna Waterbuses and vaporetto. Do your friends a favour and recommend this fine hotel. Read more
"al codega in Venice"
a very nice hotel in a great location. Although it is in a great location, it is difficult to find when you first arrive to Venice. The water taxi/bus will bring you to Venice and from there it's a short walk to the hotel and despite the hotels map, it was hard to find because the "roads" are not labelled very well, which is not the hotels fault. If […] you looking down a path and you think that it's not a road, it's probably an alley, you probably wrong, it's a road. Great location, close to everything you want to be close to. Read more

"Charming Oasis"
My Husband and I spent 2 nights here. The hotel was charming, the staff delightful and very helpfull. The location is ideal (although a little difficult to find until you get your bearings, much like most of Venice itself) The room was spotless, a very comfortable size and beautifully equipped. I would highly recommend the Hotel Al Codega
"PERFECT IN EVERY WAY!"
The hotel was very close to everything, it met all our needs, the service was excellent and always rendered with a smile. Interior and exterior has been updated to like-new condition with all the amenities and was spotless. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone.
"Excellent hotel and location al codega in venice"
Couldn't fault this hotel, excellent location and staff very friendly. Wouldn't bother even looking for another hotel in Venice in future. Good facilities, comfortable rooms, good breakfast, what more could you ask for? Oh, fabulous bathroom and shower too!
The hotel is in a very good location, quiet, which is so important in Venice. Service and cleanliness of the hotel, ambience and facilities are outstanding. But the bed matrases were too soft, and the blankets are cheap polyester, which makes you sweat at nights, inspite of airconditioning. Also, they could improve on breakfast. Everyone knows that […] breakfast in Italy is not important, if any at all. But a 4 star hotel could do better than that, especially that is not so difficult, when there are convinience stores next door, to buy a variety of edible fruit (we are in Italy) or flavoured cheese and ham slices, instead of plasma tasting slices of unidentified ........ "Al Codega - great place and location"
My wife and I had a lovely four day break to Venice. I would class the whole experience 'pricey but nicey'!
