A Little Inn by The Sea - Lauderdale-by-the-Sea

I LOVED THIS HOTEL!!! My boyfriend booked this hotel for my birthday. We got there and the lady at the counter was super nice & friendly. The rooms are huge and fully equipped. The kitchen has a stove (not stove top) & full size refrigerator, cabinets have plates, cups, etc. The living room is huge. The balcony overlooks the ocean. I had never stayed […] at a hotel on the beach before. I've stayed at ones across the street or near a beach. The 1st night, we saw the reflection of the moon on the water.. What a beautiful breathtaking view!!!! In the morning we went downstairs for the breakfast. Everyone was very nice and friendly, including the other guests. The lobby has comfortable couches and has a mini library. This hotel is walking distance from the main streets. 2nd night we walked a couple of blocks and they had live musician in the streets and belly dancers. They have many small eating places. We chose this hotel because it was close to were our friends rented a house, and the pictures made it look like a little neat place to stay. I read the reviews and got the impression that if the hotel staff cared enough to be so apologetic they would also address their customers concerns. Much to my chagrin, this was not the case. I can live with the […] outdated furniture, linen and shower curtain and that nothing matched; there was nothing attractive about the room. The common areas also very outdated. Rustic and old is ok, may even give a place some character but broken and dirty…not so much. But that is not the worst, I will have nightmares for weeks after opening a drawer to find mice droppings, shower was backed up so every shower was a bath...so gross! The toilet water ran all night and the rust and the musky old smell were intolerable. My boyfriend who is a trooper was terrified. They have a no refund policy so we were stuck there. To bear it we bough a mattress cover, sheets, pest control plugs, traps & air fresheners. Breakfast...no thanks! The staff was nice at check in but I never bothered to complain so why wouldn’t they be. Don’t let their comments fool you, there are plenty of other hotels around the area and are very well kept. Trust me, you can get a lot better for the money you pay here. I am surprised the town keeps the place open. The only good thing about this place is the location and their photographer. Read more

The room was of a fair size. The Hotel/ Inn was of some much needed major cosmetics. I went out on my own to purchase rouch bate to cure the minor problem. You step right out of the pool area onto the beach where they have some lounge chairs that you can drag out to the waters edge. I'm always up for some type of adventure. Let me tell you that staying in this hotel was a total adventure. My boyfriend and I were looking for a quick local getaway and decided to stay here to enjoy the beach....of which we did. The hotel is small and very homey. We checked in with a very nice receptionist. She gave us a key (old school key, not the […] fancy card type keys you get at the newer hotels) and gave us directions to our room. We had a studio with a kitchenette. The top lock did not lock from the outside ONLY from the inside. I felt safer leaving my valuables (computer) in the car. The room left something to be desired. It was very old fashioned. The bed was not as comfortable as I would have liked (there was a wood plank between the mattress and the box spring.) There was no cable television. BUT, the room some what kind of clean (my boyfriend found a petrified giant roach under the bed). The bathroom was clean. The kitchen was good. Our room faced the pool. (AVOID at all cost...the walls are paper thin and we could hear everything by the pool.) We did not check out the breakfast, but the beach was literally in the backyard. It was so amazing to sleep throughout the night and hear the ocean and wake up in the morning to hear the ocean. All the restaurants are walking distance. Defintely walk on the ocean to get there...you'll love it more. If you would like to have coffee in the morning, I would suggest bringing your own coffee maker as there is none in the room or walking BEACHSIDE OF COURSE to any of the local restaurants. Overall, would I come here again HELL YESS!!! My boyfriend will need some convincing. After all, I am the adventurous one. The Little Inn was very convenient and beautiful in that it was right on the beach and had a magnificent view of the ocean. The room had flaws but was OK. For anyone who is handicapped, make sure to ask for a room on the first floor, there are no elevators. Continental breakfast is packaged goods, but adequate.
