"Needed overnight accommodation"
We were traveling thru mountains so had to book room on-line, since we did not have adequate cell phone transmission & therefore initially could not ask questions relating to room access, accommodations, etc. So, when we arrived, we found it extremely inconvenient having to enter thru outside entrance & carry bags, etc., down inside hallway to access […] room. No where on HJ web site or Hotels.com did we find info relating to room entrance, etc. Also, Hotels.com did not have any info on how to inquire re- Senior Discount, AAA, or any other type of discount (once room was booked, the rate could not be negotiable). Room & bath were pleasantly clean, altho we question whether or not blanket & bedspread are laundered, as they should be, after every room turnover -- & is the TV Remote sanitized, as many hotels/motels/inns are now doing??. Bed was too soft & lumpy, as we see many others have noted in their ratings. We had a "King-Nonsmoking room, which had a strong odor/fumes of some type of cleaning agent that seemed to linger too long. Also, It would have been nice if the room had a small refrigerator. Upon ck-in, the Hotel Desk Clerk was friendly, professional & knowledgable, & we give her an Excellent Rating! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The motel was in a quiet location yet convenient to Rte 84. Friendly staff and good customer service provided a homey atmosphere in the office/breakfast room. Room was spacious and bed was comfortable but blanket and floor had cigarette burns (even though we were in a non-smoking room). Bathroom door had some water damage at bottom which made it a little […] hard to close. Shower was nice. TV and internet worked fine. Overall enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. "Average stay for an average price"
This Hojo was exactly what I expected. The room was clean but everything in it was clearly old from the curtains to the brittle plastic toilet seat. The bed was old and sagged in the middle, but the sheets were clean and I've slept in more uncomfortable beds. Paint was peeling from the walls in the bathroom. Previous reviews have cited poor customer […] service, but the three front desk clerks that I interacted with were nice and did their jobs well. Overall, most of the bad things were cosmetic. If you're expecting a Hilton, or even the best Hojo in the country, you will be disappointed, but if you're looking to avoid paying $100 per night, this hotel will get the job done. "A Good Place to Spend One Night; Bed was Too Soft"
My ladyfriend and I stayed here for one night, and we were fairly comfortable. No more than that because the bed was rather soft, and we are both accustomed to a firmer mattress. The room was clean and in very good condition. We appreciated having a coffee maker with coffee, tea, etc. in the room. We didn't partake of the adequate continental breakfast […] in the tiny dining area, not out of dissatisfaction, but only because we had made plans to have a fuller breakfast at a favorite diner across the street. Because of the soft bed we will not return. Instead, next time we will seek a place in Bethel/Danbury that has firmer beds. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

solid hotel but needs an upgrade of their breakfast-very basic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It's cheap, which was what I needed most"
The positives: -- The staff members are very friendly and competent, from the front desk to housekeeping. -- The rate is cheap. -- The room includes a decent sized refrigerator and a microwave. With a store just up the street, I was able to save a lot of money on eating out. (I stayed for a week.) -- The rate is cheap. -- The location is convenient. -- […] The bathroom is clean, as is the outer hallway. -- Did I mention the low rate? The negatives: -- The "breakfast" is mostly small bagels, cream cheese, and ancient jelly. -- The sheets seem to be made out of fiberglass. -- The television seemed to be slowly dying, with the top quarter of the screen mostly fuzzy. -- The carpet wasn't particularly clean, and the recliner was filthy. -- The walls are thin, so it was sometimes noisy. To be fair, I didn't complain or ask for any changes. I knew I was going for the lowest price I could find, so I wasn't expecting four stars (or even three). The bottom line: use the fridge to store supplements for breakfast, get over the scratchy sheets, squint at the television, sit on the bed, wear earplugs, and bring slippers. If you want more, pay for more. It did the job for what I needed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"This HoJo is a No-No..."
I will admit that I only chose this hotel because it was cheap and because I had stayed at other HoJo's before with satisfactory results. First, I am familiar with this area and did not even know there was a HoJo here but I figured things could have changed since I had been in CT last. Nope. It is just that unremarkable that I never noticed it was there […] before. The man at the front desk when i checked in was pleasant and friendly. I had reserved a two-bed suite with the impression that would give me and the three teenagers I was traveling with more room but he informed me that the suites have full beds, not queen as was shown on the reservation. So i opted for a regular room with two queen beds. The condition of the room was less than pleasant, it was clean-ish but quite outdated and the lampshades were broken and cracked. The carpet was old, worn, and dirty-looking. Also, the toilet seat was broken so every time you sat on it, it pinched you. The teens were less than pleased. The beds were uncomfortable. Housekeeping was nice enough to give us extra towels and supplies whenever we needed them, we did not have regular daily cleaning of the room while we were there (our choice). Overall, it was a place to sleep that was convenient in location... that's it. I would not recommend this hotel or stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worth the cost"
This hotel was nice. I didn't quite realize where it was when I booked it originally but it worked out well. The room was nice, apart from what appeared to be a few cigarette burns on the linens. I however would stay here again as the staff was friendly and efficient.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

A place to sleep. Overall was okay. The only real problem was not asked for my rewards card, and I failed to remember to give it t the clerk. So I guess I wont get credit for this stay.

Stayed here several times in past. Our room this time showed signs of the property slipping. The shower head has been leaking for some time. The calucking at the base of the tub was black with mold. Areas where the vac can't reach were brown with dirt.

"Gd stay at HoJo in Bethel, Ct"

Three adult non-smokers, arrived to find the hotel had overbooked and did not have our Non-smoking room as had been confirmed. The Mgr Mr Patel was fast to admit their error and totally made it right with us. Very personable and standup guy. No issues there. Hotel was easy on and off Interstate 84. Bathroom door did not latch, rooms and hallways could have been clean around the perimeter. Breakfast spread was rather typical, good coffee. Overall stay was good, quiet location. Staff (Melissa and Mr Patel were exceptional)
"Good basic hotel"
08/20/14 Mark P Syracuse
My family of 5 stayed 1 night. We have family in town so really only needed a clean place to sleep and shower. The beds seemed new, firm, comfortable. My wife even commented on how well she slept. Furnishings were a little dated. Continental breakfast was very basic, but we were really only looking for coffee and tea anyway. It was perfect for our needs. If you are looking for a pool or a more elaborate amenities there are better options in Bethel. Staff was friendly. Free wifi. I would stay there again

e stayed 2 days in HJ in Bethel CT,We like it was very clean and comfortable. We recommend this hotel .If we had to travel again we will stop there again. The people at the desk were very nice ,they help us with directions to town.Very nice area too.
"Good for the money"
I would say that this place is good for the money. The only complaint I would have is that one half the floor is smoking and the other half is non. As a non smoker it was not very pleasant to walk in the hall and have the place reek of smoke. Other then that very good for the money.
"Clean, economical, friendly!"

Much better than the place across the street (Days Inn?). Clean linen, refrigerator, microwave and it was quiet! The staff were very attentive and friendly. The hallways and rooms were kept up well. Slight wear in the showers, but overall a refreshing nights stay.
