This is a fine hotel. It is newly remodeled in contemporary style, with a good taste. It is absolutely clean and very comfortable. Our room was on the fifth floor and I would rather take the stairs down instead of the elevator to enjoy the tasteful decoration and paintings in the stair way and the landings. The only bench to sit on is between the elevator and hotel's front door, The restaurant is open only for breakfast and locked the rest of the day. The hotel's location is the best in Sofia, Centrally located, close to the museums, restaurant, shopping areas, and at the same time, it is quiet and pleasant. The rooms are comfortable and clean, if strangely decorated. Not unusual, I suppose, as I have often found Bulgarian tastes in design and fashion to be, well, foreign. I really loved the location of this hotel - it couldn't be more attractive at its price (compared with the nearby Sheraton). The single room I occupied was quite spacious and comfortable. Both the room and the bathroom were very clean and well maintained. Washing amenities (i.e. body lotion, shampoo & soap) and clean towels were regularly provided on […] a daily basis, the room (and the bed) was always in a good condition upon each return. Some things, that I found disturbing: no clock in the room (esp. alarm clock); the open "closet" had no shelves; there was a constant little scent of smoke during my whole stay. Also, as many have said - there's absolutely no need to purchase the 10-EUR priced "all-inclusive" breakfast buffet. I either had something outside of the hotel or made an order from the hotel's restaurant menu (available through the day) - a big and filling Bulgarian salad with some toasts and coffee cost me around 7 leva (= 3.5 EUR). I stayed twice--10 days apart. Small clean hotel in busy neighborhood with European feel. Staff was friendly and very helpful--windows shut out noise, I think--I used my earplugs just in case. Breakfast was good and convenient, but overpriced. Cozy restaurant, clean, I will return. Very close to churches, opera, museums. A good choice.

The Arte hotel is a nice stab at refurbishing an old hotel and calling it a "boutique" hotel by hanging a lot of mediocre local art on the walls. The elevator was out of service and the electronic lock on the door of my room was inoperable (faceplate off and wires hanging out as though someone was trying to hot-wire a car). There was no inner chain […] lock so it didn't feel all that secure. Getting a cup of coffee in the morning was a challenge. There is a nice coffee shop a few blocks away but it did not open until 8 AM. I will pick a more upscale hotel for my next visit to Sofia. Read more

This is a great little boutique hotel. It is very close to downtown Sofia. Staff are friendly. Internet works great. No balconies but windows open. Good cable TV with English stations. Breakfast is too expensive but lots of good resaturants nearby. Very safe neighborhood. I walked at night all the time. I will definitely stay again.

The location of the hotel is excellent. For the price paid it's quite reasonable, but if you're looking for something more than a basic room, then this isn't really the place to stay. The hotel staff are very friendly, and all speak English to quite a comfortable level. The air conditioning didn't work and there is underfloor heating which seems to […] stay on all night, so I slept with the windows open which meant it was noisy and as it's winter, there were also some cold nights to be endured. What I really missed the most was the ability to make myself a cup of tea in my room - there were no complimentary drink or any tea making facilities at all in the room. I paid extra for a higher class of room, and the website stated there would be complimentary bottles of water and dressing gowns, none of which appeared in my room. There are some nice little shops just down the road where you can purchase just about anything. The Hotel charge for the airport shuttle service was quoted as 20Euro - I paid around 5Euro for a taxi. Overall I thought the hotel was probably average in most respects other than location which as I said was really excellent. Read more

A very satisfactory experience. The only minus was a relatively small double bed, which all the rooms have. The location is great (central Sofia), staff were polite and helpful and we had everything we needed, including wifi and satellite tv. We didn't pay for breakfast as eating out is so cheap, but did use room service on the first day after an early […] flight. Very impressed with the Club Sandwich and chips provided, as well as the pancakes. Price was very reasonable too - about 10 GBP for 2 pancakes, the sandwich, salad and chips, coffee and tea, all brought to the room to 2 hungry and thirsty travellers! Take the hotel address with you and take a taxi from the airport - our journey cost about 12 Levs/7 GBP. Just make sure you don't get conned by the taxis though - they should display prices on a window and not charge more than 1 lev per km. Or more accurately 60 cents per km. We used taxis to get all around Sofia for very reasonable prices. Enjoy, we certainly did! Read more

This is a lovely, new, small hotel very conveniently located close to city sights and restaurants. Breakfast was not included so we ate outside the hotel. There is a McDonalds nearby and Happy Restaurant just a couple of blocks away seems to be the happening spot at night.

In terms of location... If you're the type that fancies a bit of peace & quiet after a long day, then this is the hotel for you as its slightly out of the busy zone (ie. at night, there's nothing much to do once you step out of your hotel). But walk down a couple of streets, and you'll find places that are open late into the night. After all, the city […] centre isn't that huge so its relatively convenient. And you'd feel safe because Arte Hotel is located right next to a government / state building, so there are police frequently patrolling the place. Overall, great location because its slightly quieter (no screaming drunkards in the middle of the night), and there's a small little convenience outlet just 100m down the street so you can get whatever late night snacks or drinks you need. In terms of comfort... It's a simple hotel, but comfortable enough. The heater & hot water worked, which was important to us in cold weather, and their room and bathroom are of a decent enough size to make you feel like you're getting your money's worth! Ladies will be happy with the bathroom, which has more than enough space for you to walk around in and take a comfy shower in, and not feel like its just a cubicle put in for the sake of it. In terms of service... The staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. They were waiting for our arrival (we only mentioned our first names, and they immediately jumped in and knew our reservation details), helped with small change, booking of taxis, etc. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who was contemplating staying in Sofia! The Arte is in an excellent location, a short walk from all the main tourist sites in central Sofia. Rooms are modern and very clean, and the service is excellent - the front desk staff are particularly helpful. Only complaint is that the air conditioning in some of the rooms is not strong enough to keep the rooms cool when the outside temperatures […] top 30 degrees. I stayed with a group - it seems not all rooms had this problem, some were fine. The room rates felt like good value, but breakfast when paid for separately cost more than half of the nightly room charge - very expensive relative to the price of eating generally in Sofia (which is pleasantly low). Pay attention to whether the breakfast is included in your room rate when booking - that way it can be good value. If not, consider having breakfast at a nearby cafe, of which there are plenty up the backstreets behind the hotel. There is free wifi throughout the hotel. There are no safes in the rooms.
