We have been to Esmeralda before and it has always been clothing optional but this time the clothing optional area was fenced off- very weird. May not return to Esmeralda because of this. We wish it was still clothing optional.

It was a bit odd that you had to sign out: A) the remote for your tv, B) Ethernet cable, and C) a towel. But overall, the room was pretty nice. More pillows in the closet, and the hot water works. Oh, and you have your own personal patio with table and chair. Get a water side view if you can, hah.

This was our first visit ever to St. Maarten. It a beautiful island with warm temperatures, blue water and friendly people and it's only a 4 hour direct flight away from most of the East Coast. Oyster Bay is a perfect spot, it sits right on the border of Dutch and French sides, it's only 20 minutes from Phillipsburg, the Dutch capital which is great for shopping and only 20 minutes away from the pristine clothing optional Orient Bay on the French side along with gourmet French cuisine dining options at Grand Case. The property is well maintained with a beautiful views, excellent beach front , a serene bay side, an awesome Infinity pool, great restaurants options on and around the property. I will recommend this location and property to anybody visiting this beautiful Island.

Hotel is right on the boardwalk and beach in Philipsburg St Maarten. It is in the center of action during the day. One block away you can flag down the local buses to take you anywhere on the island for $2 US. However, Philipsburg serves the cruise ship clientel, and it pretty much shuts down after 6pm. This hotel is not an all inclusive resort hotel, but for those looking for an independent stay, we found it excellent.
