Urban location, so you either need a car or you can commute into Chicago Union station on the Metra from Brookfield station (15 min walk from hotel); train takes about 30 mins. Only breakfast available at the hotel, and this is very basic (waffles, bagels, muffins, & cereals). My room had king size bed, wash basin in room with separate ensuite (WC, bath with shower mixer).

We have stayed at this motel on three different occasions, always because it is close to Midway Airport and reasonably priced. This time we asked for a microwave and the one that was brought to our room was broken. No others were available. Also, there was no coffee maker in the room and no coffee available in the office. The breakfast begins at 7AM, so that is later than most motels and we were on the way to Midway long before then. We were quite satisfied with the king bed and the cleanliness of the room. Burger King is walking distance. Also, a couple other small places to eat.

Easy to drive to Chicago attractions from here (15 mins or so). Indoor pool under renovation but didn't matter to us. Fast-food restaurants, pharmacy and groceries nearby. We would stay here again.

When I checked in, Terry was an excellent host. Very friendly and did everything she could to make my stay comfortable. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, I had a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot, as requested. However, I had a couple of issues with the hotel. 1. You can't regulate the heat. The register is open and cannot be closed. Hence, I opened the door for awhile, to cool the room off and then, blocked the register. I then slept fairly well. 2. The AM clerk did not give me a wake up call, as I asked. I know Terry made a note of it. Thankfully, my husband called me, because when I turned the radio off, I must have also turned the alarm off. When I walked in the office, I woke up the clerk. When I said I needed a fast checkout because I was running behind due to the fact that I didn't get a wake up call, as requested, she said the phones weren't working? I didn't verify that. Hubby called me on cell.

There were several issues during our three day stay. First, there was NO dresser for our clothes. The hair dryer blew out the power several times so we just went with wet hair. No coffee service or pot cleaned the second day. They re-key the door lock every night but we were not told that upon check-in, so we had to go to the front desk every night to get a new key. No ironing board or iron in the room. The in-door pool was under construction. Our "smoking" room was all that was available and it smelt like a bar. The curtain on the window was broken so it didn't really cover the full opening. There were screaming kids in the parking lot early in the morning. Room temperature was very difficult to control. Now for the good. The people were very responsive to our requests and were sympathetic to the situation. They delivered a small refrigerator within a few minutes of our asking. Bathroom were recently remodeled. And, there was a Walgreen's store a block away.

This is probably not a place you'd want to bring your family, or stay in for an extended period. But my business in Chicago was very brief so I spent very little time in the room. Upon pulling up to the hotel I was a bit shocked at how old it looked. I'll admit I had a "Coming to America" moment and began to panic a little. But the room was clean and the staff was helpful. I was a bit disappointed that the indoor pool wasn't available, but maybe that was for the best since it was like 32 degrees outside anyway. Honestly, whose in the mood for swimming in weather like that? :)

First of all, our key to the room didn't work. And they had no other no-smoking room and only one available is this without key working. So every time we came from out and want to g to our room we had to go to open desk and ask someone to open the door with the key. Second, our remote for TV didn't work. And third and most worst is on our last day which is on Jan 1 2008 we didn't even get hot water to take shower. That day in chicago the temperatures were freezing with almost -15 wind chill. We called open desk and they asked to take shower in another room. Even the other room also had no hot water. Then they asked us to go to another room which even that also had no hot water. So on our new year day we had to shower in cold water in freezing temperatures outside. That's the worst thing can happen to anyone on new year. I am so dissatisfied i will never rent this hotel and i will suggest you all not to rent this hotel.

I suppose for the price, this wasn't a bad hotel for the Chicago area. It looks like they're trying to make a nice hotel by updating the bathroom area and renevating a continental breakfast area. However, I think they need to consentrate more on providing clean, well-maintained rooms, rather than added new things to take care of. I would recommend this for single people who don't care about the quality of a hotel. The area of Lyons was not rough or scary. It was about 20-30 mintues from downtown. I heard the employees of this hotel tell a guest that there key didn't work, so they'd have to come to the front desk to have some go up to their room and open it for them every time. They told them there were no other rooms available, so this was their only option. I'm guessing they're on a tight budget due to the recent changes made to their breakfast room and pool area. Side note, the pool is not avialable yet for use. All in all, our experience was not horrible at this hotel. It just needed some attention -cleaniless of the room needs to be top priority. Also, we were unable to get the air conditioning working. It didn't look the room had this option. The weather was definitely not hot the 2 nights we stayed there?but our room was fairly warm. We had to open the door in the evenings. If you're looking for a cheap hotel?I guess this will work for you. It's close to Midway airport.
