From the very start we received a warm welcome and friendly service. Our room was lovely , fresh and clean and the view over the sea was beautiful. I visited the Spa and can recommend this also, professional and calming and fairly priced. We will definitely be back!

"Comfortable room"
Got an enjoyable stay and good sleep in the hotel after a week's island hopping in Greece. Nice beach. Great breakfast buffet. The one thing to consider: Its a family hotel with a lot of kids of all ages whirling around. They don't have a shuttle to the airport nearby. You can catch a regional bus but pay attention: There is no bus service on Sundays - the hotel reception missed out to tell me this! I had to take a taxi to the airport and paid Euro 6 for a ride of just about 2-3 Km!

"nice resort"
The whole experience was good. The hotel caters for families and wock if I had one. I paid for a room with a sea view but only had a view of a brick wall. The airconditioning doesnt work well as the wind would move the magnet off the door and it would stop it automatically. (they came to fix it but it kept on happening). Staff at the breakfast are amazing, very helpful and nice can't say the same thing about the reception staff, any request was answered with an attitude. The hotel is close to pythagorio, can easily walk it and facilities are great.

"Bo i village-delen"

"nice bungalow"
10/05/15 Ruth E Llanelli, United Kingdom
Nice bright spacious bungalow good size. Comfortable bed and good size bathroom. Clean towels every day.The breakfast was very good with big variety, we enjoyed it very much. About 15 minute walk into Pythagorean, with good selection of restaurants Only one thing I wasn't happy about, a member of staff from the hotel who was shifting a bit blasted me and I had only put one foot out, well behind the white line. We didn't use the pool, because we were unable to get a sun bed. Which didn't spoil the holiday because the beach was so nice excellent Wi-Fi worked great even on the beach.

"Beautiful location..."

Our room was a deluxe sea view suite. We loved the view and the size of the room. It was big enough for a family of four. Not a five star hotel (pool is mostly for kids), but is in a very good location. Pythagorion is the best place to stay in Samos. We stayed there nights and been everywhere on the island. Pythagorion is definitely the best location. Breakfast is very good with a lot of options, and Japanese restaurant was also nice.

"Excellent holiday"

This review is slightly late! My husband, myself and our 12 year old stayed here for 2 weeks at the end of July. We had a fantastic holiday and it was very relaxing. The hotel was extremely clean and all the staff were extremely polite, friendly and helpful and nothing was ever too much trouble. Our room overlooked the sea and was always cleaned well with fresh towels each day. My only complaint about the room was that the bathroom was fairly small and there wasn't much space between the shower and the toilet. We stayed at the hotel on a bed and breakfast basis only since we like to eat out at different places when on holiday. The breakfast was amazing with everything you could possibly want from Greek yoghurt to a fully cooked breakfast to hams, cheeses and was extremely substantial. The hotel was beautifully situated right next to the beach and the harbour town of Pythagoria with loads of restaurants was only a 15 minute walk away in the evening. There were also a few tavernas and restaurants near to the hotel where we ate at lunchtime. There was a great bar called Fito Aqua Blue next to our hotel which had amazing food at lunchtime and was reasonably priced. There were a few bars in the hotel and drinks could also be ordered from your lounger on the beach too. However, we didn't buy too many drinks at the hotel because the prices did seem very steep compared to other nearby restaurants and tavernas. There was always lots going on at the hotel and lots of activities each day. I very much enjoyed the aqua aerobics in the main pool each day whilst my husband went to some of the body pump classes and my son enjoyed the daily football sessions which were organised there. Whilst the hotel is a fairly big one, we always found it very quiet and peaceful at night, since the hotel bar closed at midnight. We hired a jeep one day to explore more of the island and found that very worthwhile. Samos is such a beautiful, lush island and it was great to go and see some of the villages in the mountains. One day we did a boat trip on Captain Andreas boat which was one of the highlights of our holiday and included a lovely BBQ on a private beach as well as a chance to dive and snorkel from the boat. We travelled with Thomson and this same boat trip was one which they sold to guests. However, we just went to the harbour at Pythagoria and booked it directly ourselves which saved us a lot of money. All in all it was a most relaxing and enjoyable holiday and I would definitely recommend the Doryssa and would love to return there one day.

"Strong avoid, its not a five star resort"
09/16/15 Traveller189934 Helsinki, Finland
Stayed here for one week, and what a disappointing experince. There is so much to improve, that I do not know where to start. First of all, the rooms are very dirty and quite small. The cleaning staff became very rude after I asked them to do a better job cleaning table surfices in the room. The air conditioning was filled with dust and it kept strange noise. The room keys had issues every day, had to go to the reception and change the key several times, with no reason. Other guests had also the same problem with their room keys. I did the all inclusive option and the food was ok, nothing special, a normal buffet. The problem was it was almost the same every day. When I pointed out this to the restaurant manager, she was not very happy and turned away. Many of the of the soft drink stations were closed for the entire week. The resort is build in the late 70s, and it shows. The location is great though, its just by the beach. If you want a sun bed by the beach, prepare to pay 3 euros/day/person, even if you are all inclusive guest. Over 80 percent of the guest are swedish families with kids, so if you are travelling as a couple and want a peacefull place to stay, this is not it. The resort is targeting to swedish families only, and I noticed that people from other countries were not treated as equal to the swedish guests. I can only guess why, are there any political reasons behind, do not know. The pool area was a bit dirty, but the staff working in the pool bar (Thea's cafe) were very friendly. Many of the sun beds in the pool are were broken though and could not be used. The pool area was overcrouded and noisy especially in the afternoon. The travel agency had several guides staying at the resort, and they were not paying any attention to the guests. They were arrogant and rude towards many guests. They spend a lot of time chatting to each other and eating in the main restaurant or just sitting by the pool bar. In the dinner time they came to the main restaurant in casual t-shirts and shorts shouting loudly and eating the same food as the all inclusive guests. To me it seemed that these young guides focused more on having fun their self and overlooking guests staying at the resort. All I can say is that this is not a five star resort, its closer to a three star place with high prices for a very narrow customer segment. If you are staying in Samos, you might look for other options.

Great location for a very relaxed holiday! The small villa is nice to stay, a lot of privacy and a great sea view and nice garden in between. The breakfast buffet is good, the lunch buffet is even better, with every day new dishes to taste! The beach is great to visit. The drinks will be served and the beds are very nice! If you like to join a bootcamp or yoga, in the morning and end of the afternoon are there sessions to join in the nice garden under the trees.

"Unexpectedly Surpassed all my expectations"
09/09/15 Ravenspurn Lulea, Sweden
I have never travelled to Greece before, but my other half was constantly there. So I thought I would give it a try. The hotel was clean, fresh, and modern. The rooms were modern, however, the bathroom / toilet combination with no shower curtain was a little strange to begin with, but we did get used to it. I purchased a window squeegee for the bathroom floor as I really had no desire to tramp water throughout the room. There is only one power socket in the room we had. If you have a few devices to charge (cameras / tablets / phones), take or purchase an Standard EU power strip. It can be fairly windy, and occasionally topped 50 km/h gusts. (don't sleep with the balcony doors open). There are two sides, we took the mountain side, and the view was spectacular. The balcony is small, but adequate. The Hotel is located along a wide pebble beach, with water sports and sunbeds. The sunbeds are €3 each per day or €18 per week, staying all inclusive, you receive Towels, and ae able to change these every two days. The pebbles are home to small crabs and fish (don't stand there too long). There is a waiter service to the beach, the food is not included, but again, is reasonably priced. As many suggest, it is located at the end of the runway, but this does not affect the experience. The pools are clean, and supported by a lifeguard. The pool and main bars are well stocked, and for all inclusive, most are included. Some of the more luxurious drinks are not, but are not expensive. The bar staff are easy to talk with, and have many tips for what to do and where to go. Do not miss the Greek evening, or Tavern by the Sea. The food may be the same, but the view is amazing. The hotel is close to many historic landmarks, Temples, ruins and history. 10 minutes walk away is the town of Pythagorion. There are a number of bars, restaurants and small shops. The staff are the real gems in this hotel.

"Delightful Week"

Situated very close to the airport, planes going overhead during our stay, which was not a problem for us. Our room was situated in the village area of the resort. We were lucky enough to be overlooking the village square and the church. The village itself is a replica of a traditional village, this has been done very tastefully. The village square itself has a small supermarket, taverna and a boutique. Our room was tastefully decorated with modern furnishing and very comfortable. The maids kept everything clean and refurbished daily. A beautiful shingle beach 5 minutes walk away where you can hire sunbeds for 3 euros each per day, towels are supplied, from you sun bed you can press a button for waiter service. Pythagorian is about a 15 minute walk away either along the shingle beach or pavement, plenty of shopping and bars. The breakfast bar is amazing and situated near the beach area, the food is buffet and really there is a choice for every taste and the standard of food is excellent. The same area is also used for evening dining, dining in the evening can be a bit expensive compared to the restaurants in Pythagaorian. A word of caution, be careful and check your change when out spending, twice we were given Turkish Lira coins instead of Euros as change, these are worth considerably less in value. There is an all inclusive area in the resort, this tends to attract mostly families this gets very busy around the pool, with loud music playing. All in all we had a really great holiday.

"Fantastic Complex - High Standards "
09/07/15 Phil5743 Mansfield, United Kingdom
0nly a 10 minute transfer from the airport, this hotel has a sea front location with a very long shingle & pebble beach, the beach is not owned by the hotel but instead by the Island municipality. The hotel is actually at the end of the airport runway but more about that later. Doryssa is a big hotel complex split in to two distinctive areas, the Village and the modern, also known as the blue village. When we arrived we we're given a room in the village (room 478), we were told this was an upgrade. Our room had 2 single beds, plenty of cupboard space, a good size bathroom, a safe and fridge, air conditioning and a TV. There were no extra charges for the safe or air conditioning, we didn't use the TV, there is free WiFi with good coverage even on the beach. As you walk around the village there is something different around every corner, there is the village square with a few shops, car hire, restaurants, a church, and a folk musium. All apartments (or village houses) have their own style and decor, some have private balconies others are shared, each one is different and has a very charming appeal. The modern apartments (blue village) consist of 2/3 story buildings, all appear to have private balconies and are around the main pool. The blue village (modern) is less appealing but does have a good position overlooking the main pool with nice sea views. The hotel grounds are very well maintained and a pleasure to walk around, very clean everywhere you walk, full credit to ground staff. We stayed B&B, some stay full full board, meals are served in one of 2 restaurants, either the village or blue village restaurant. A large selection of food available to suit all tastes, the food was very nice, the staff were very polite and attentive. As mentioned, the hotel is at the end of the airport run way, you do get plane noise, and it's quite loud when planes take off and land but there isn't enough during the day to spoil your stay, we only had 4 or 5 at the most in any one day. The hotel pool is large and located in the modern (blue village) area with a smaller one for children and another for toddlers, there are plenty of sunbeds and we didn't have a problem getting one. There is a pool side bar where you can get drinks, or just a snack. The hotel provides entertainment mainly for the children but they also do some for adults with water aerobics, there is something happening every day, but it's not OTT, just enough in our opinion. For those on the beach there is a waiter service, every brolly has a call button. When pressed a waiter will come and take your order, the service was very good. Around the pool there is a life guard on duty which is very assuring should anyone get in difficulty especially with children of course, we didn't see one on the beach in front of the hotel but we did see one further along the beach. The beach is only a few meters away. It has hundreds of sun beds and brollies but, you do have to pay extra for these, €6 for 2 beds and a brolly, cheap in our opinion. The beds are extremely comfortable. The beach is mainly shingle and pebbles that quickly changes to sand once in the sea, it quickly drops deeper only a few meters from the edge so be careful especially if you have small children. The hotel is a 15 minute walk to the town of Pythagorion and it's marina where you find many restaurants and bars, you can get there via the main road or by walking along the beach. The road is the safer option but slightly longer, the beach walk is shorter but the path isn't very good, it's not for those who has a walking disability, stick to the road instead. The road walk has street lighting the majority of the way, there is no lighting on the beach walk so be careful. Taxis are available if you don't want to walk back from town They park at the end of the main road just of the marina, we didn't use them so we have no idea of cost. There is a bus stop is at the entrance of the hotel but the service is very hit and miss. One day we got the bus to Samos town, it was around 25 minutes and only cost €1.70 pp each way. A taxi will €20 each way. Pros A lovely complex with a very uneque feel. Maintained to a very high standard. Staff were very polite and attentive, a special thanks to Dimos, who was excellent. Fantastic sea front location. Extremely comfortable sun beds (beach) Great facilities all round for all ages. Cons Difficult to find a negative and I'm not going to say something just for the sake of it, it's not perfect and every place will have something someone doesn't like. This is a very nice complex. Summary A fantastic complex for everyone with high standards. It is described as a 5 star but in our opinion it's not quite at that level but it's excellent all the same. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. FORGET ABOUT THE AIRPORT RUNWAY, THERE'S NOTHING TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT.
