"a good hotel for summertime"
we rested for 4 days in this hotel .it was a good holiday for us.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Why this hotel is not a 5 star resort"
We stayed in the bungalows. Architecturally very picturesque. What detracted from a 5 star hotel was the following: 1) rooms were clean; but maids would make enough noise on the floor above you to wake you up at 8:30; we had acquired excess towels from front desk/house keeping and the maids removed them; and there was broken glass on our patio when […] we arrived. I called the front desk. I finally got the glass removed the next day by showing it to the maids. 2) no conditioner, only shampoo. 3) The beach is full of stationary wooden umbrellas. They charge $3/day per person to sit under an umbrella. 4) Food beyond breakfast is the level of a cafeteria. 5) In my reservation I requested a ride to the airport. They told me it was a request and they would not honor it. They arranged for a cab to drive at the cost of 3 times the meter rate. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Got an enjoyable stay and good sleep in the hotel after a week's island hopping in Greece. Nice beach. Great breakfast buffet. The one thing to consider: Its a family hotel with a lot of kids of all ages whirling around. They don't have a shuttle to the airport nearby. You can catch a regional bus but pay attention: There is no bus service on Sundays […] - the hotel reception missed out to tell me this! I had to take a taxi to the airport and paid Euro 6 for a ride of just about 2-3 Km! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The whole experience was good. The hotel caters for families and wock if I had one. I paid for a room with a sea view but only had a view of a brick wall. The airconditioning doesnt work well as the wind would move the magnet off the door and it would stop it automatically. (they came to fix it but it kept on happening). Staff at the breakfast are amazing, […] very helpful and nice can't say the same thing about the reception staff, any request was answered with an attitude. The hotel is close to pythagorio, can easily walk it and facilities are great. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Bo i village-delen"
"Good place for resort lovers"
I am not a resort lover but for those of you who are you could do a lot worse than Doryssa. We stayed in the Presidential Suite (602) which was brilliant value for money. I think the Greek hotel rating system is a bit different to elsewhere, I would give this hotel 3.5 stars but it's a great place for families who need to keep kids entertained.

Place is crap dont stay here. Fridge does not work or the tv and when it came on for a few seconds it had a porno going. Room was late to be ready for us and no apologies. Very run down. Must be better places than this on Samos.

Was slightly thrown by the Greek Village aspect when we first arrived but actually felt it worked. Hotel extremely clean, staff excellent. Had a problem with fridge on arrival and it was checked and replaced with fifteen minutes. Food great, women who cleaned rooms brilliant. I found the reception staff nothing but helpful. Stayed in one of the bungalow rooms and was pleased with the quiet location.
"Resort with "greek" atmosphere"

Accommodation in village part of resort has nice atmosphere. The rooms are located in small greek houses. The beach is close the resort, separate by beautiful pine grove. Pebble beach. Nearest small town is good for walk (taverns, port, shops,..). In second part of september it is quiet place.
"A beatiful hotel at a unique place!"

We stayed at a sea view suite. The view was magnificent and apart from the noise from the airplanes (it is very close located to the airport), you can hear the sea waves! The suite was a large room with very nice bathroom, always cleaned. The place of the hotel is unique, on a large beautiful beach! It is also very close to Pythagoreio, in a walking distance. The beach was very good, not crowded, as the hotel has not used every inch of the beach, but leaves some space between the sunbeds. The service, especially at the beach, is excellent, with all the staff running to assist you anytime. The food in general was good for such a big hotel, not the best gourmet I have ever eaten, but well-done. There is also a variety of restaurants in the hotel for changing. The village of the hotel is very picturesque and nice walking. The whole island is really beautiful, with many options on beaches, on historic tours, on monasteries, walking on the mountain and the river, nice villages!
"Poor customer service"

I agree with most of the negative comments regarding the Reception staff at the Doryssa (e.g. pretending not to understand you) although they were helpful with the buses and when we had absolutely no towels left in the room, we had some within 5 minutes of a call to Reception. However, when we booked two rooms 6 months before our stay, we requested adjacent rooms for us and our children (with balconies, standard as part of Thomson). Even with this simple request, they could not be bothered to sort it out. When we arrived our rooms were on the same floor but not adjacent and the children's room was awful - more like a dark prison cell with no balcony and a tiny window (make sure you do not get these rooms, they are not 5 star). After much complaining to the Reception staff, they reluctantly moved our children to a room on the 1st floor with us on the 3rd floor. The following day, even though many rooms had become available, they refused to move us to adjacent rooms and it was a complete pain the whole holiday being two floors apart. It was made much worse by the children's room (with its feeble air-conditioning) having a faulty lock so it did not always shut\lock properly even though we reported it to Reception twice. The whole week we had to keep checking it and we could not leave anything valuable in it (e.g. the cleaners at least twice left the room unlocked, un-intentionally). The Doryssa should be ashamed of its Reception staff and the way they treat their customers. Maybe they should be sent on some training courses to improve their customer skills. We've had better service at 2 and 3 star places. Not even an apology. This is a shame as the other staff such as cleaners, breakfast staff and the lifeguards were all excellent. The hotel is in a good location with the beach and a short(ish) walk into town. But because of the way we were treated, I couldn't recommend the hotel to anyone.
"Not worth it's price, should be a 2 star!!!"

We arrived at the hotel and we checked in at 3pm because our room wasn't ready!! The food is all frozen and nothing is fresh except it's fruit juices in the morning. The breakfast was not real food and all plastic food!!! The rates for Greek tourists are double than for tourists! Old and not renovated! Airplanes are a big problem!! You can hear them pass all the time!! Can't rest! I only liked the beach. The souvlaki in the kafenio was the only good thing!! The reception girls never told us that the breakfast was different in the village than in the main building, even though we weren't all inclusive and could have eat in both!!
"Good service, but to large."

With rooms for about 800 guests, it gets crowded on the beach and at the pool. And then you always have the boom boom music from the pool bar, and the hotell taverna. Also anything you buy at the hotell area is 2-4 times more expencive then at the local town. But; the service is exelent! And the beach is nice, alto some rubish in the water, and crowded. A smal tip is to walk 3 min towards Pythagorion, you will find a quiet part of the Beach that has a very smal taverna, and also a better sea sport rental. If you stay for one week I would recomend al inclusive, but for two or three weeks you should go for half pention, ps you have to pay for drinks at dinner, even water. The buffé is ok, good service. Ps rent a car and see the Island of Samos!
"A real sea side resort"

It is exactly on the beach-the distance from your room is no more than 50 metres. We have stayed several times in this resort which is perfect for a family with children.Water sports in front of you, different options for eating all the time and good breakfast. Its almost impossible not to get extra kilos and not to be dizzy by doing nothing.
"Very nice resort. Village concept Very cool"
08/05/14 Harry P Toronto, Canada
Very good all around. One drawback is the proximIty to the airport runway. 8 - 10 flights a day take off over the resort The food at restaurants is good. Staff is great very Helpful. Beach setup is nice. Ocean water is crystal clear and beautiful The rooms in the greek village are lovely and design is very authentic yet all modern amenities.
