"Comfortable room"
Got an enjoyable stay and good sleep in the hotel after a week's island hopping in Greece. Nice beach. Great breakfast buffet. The one thing to consider: Its a family hotel with a lot of kids of all ages whirling around. They don't have a shuttle to the airport nearby. You can catch a regional bus but pay attention: There is no bus service on Sundays - the hotel reception missed out to tell me this! I had to take a taxi to the airport and paid Euro 6 for a ride of just about 2-3 Km!

"nice resort"
The whole experience was good. The hotel caters for families and wock if I had one. I paid for a room with a sea view but only had a view of a brick wall. The airconditioning doesnt work well as the wind would move the magnet off the door and it would stop it automatically. (they came to fix it but it kept on happening). Staff at the breakfast are amazing, very helpful and nice can't say the same thing about the reception staff, any request was answered with an attitude. The hotel is close to pythagorio, can easily walk it and facilities are great.

"Très beau complexe."
Rénovation très réussie pour les amateurs de déco contemporaine. Situation idéale, personnel très agréable, tout y est, du coiffeur au médecin, plusieurs restaurants dont un sushi bar, supérette et mini-golf. Pas besoin de bouger. Très agréable séjour.

"Bo i village-delen"

"A very enjoyable holiday location for couples and families"
07/14/15 Tony M Amersfoort, Utrecht, Netherlands
We have just returned from a great 10 day holiday at this hotel feeling relaxed and happy with the cost / quality choice we made, the staff were extremely friendly and happy to go the extra mile to make us feel spoiled, we went half board which was ideal and allowed excellent choice of food and wine dining in a more select and quieter restaurant away from the main family full board groups, overall the only complaints were high level of families when we were there and proximity of the airport with some exciting views of flights leaving Samos directly over the beach area. Having said that, we would go back without hesitation

"26 years of visiting this resort... This title is pretty much all that is needed! (But I have so much more to say!)"
07/12/15 Maria T New York
My daughter (who is now 26) was three months old the first time we stayed at Doryssa. This last trip was the 32nd time staying at the resort. There is a long list of items that I absolutely love about this resort. (Most importantly it makes me feel at home- my father was born on Samos.) Doryssa is ideal for a vacation with family (and children of all ages.) There are two main areas of the resort- the main hotel and the Village area. I have never stayed in the main hotel, so I will concentrate my review on the 'Village.' Each Village hotel room is in an individual style bungalow made to look like the homes on the island. The entire Village area looks like an authentic village of Samos. There is the town square (as there is one in every village), the town church, the kafenio (small cafe), a huge area in the square for children to play. Pretty authentic looking. One reason we keep on returning is because my family feels like this is our own village. The rooms are elegantly decorated with coco-mat beds. The bathrooms are of colored concrete, and quietly luxurious. Most bungalows have large balconies. The beach is only a few meters away from the bungalows. Lounge chairs with umbrellas are provided for a small daily fee (as mandated by the island.) The sea tends to be a bit cooler than some other islands, but the water is crystal clear! No matter how deep you go you can see the bottom of the sea! There is beach service for meals and drinks. Two young men names Xaris and Yiorgo walk up and down the beach and will bring you anything you order. Khan and Nikos are there for your towels and lounge chairs- very helpful. For meals you have several options. There is only breakfast, and also breakfast and one other meal. (Not certain of other meal plans.) Breakfast buffet has options for everyone's taste. Dinner or lunch is also buffet style in the main restaurants, but you have other dining options such as sushi restaurant and an a-la-carte restaurant by the sea. There is also the pool bar cafe open most of the day. (There is room service.) Main staff speaks fluent English as well as German and other languages. All staff was very courteous and always helpful. If you visit the pool bar make sure Despina makes you a drink ... She is quite good at this! And there is Sofia and Maria who will serve you with a huge smile. Of course the pool bar captain is also wonderful- his name is Nikos. And Demos is also a sweet smiling, excellent server by the pool. Eftixis is a waiter at the main restaurants who has been with the resort for many years! He remembers everyone and makes you feel so welcomed. The reception staff of Chrisoula, Pigi, Anastasia and a few others are very good at what they do. Manolis has been he night receptionist for a very very long time. He greets all guests with the hugest smile. And there is Angie -the concierge. She will make sure you have all you need always. I have told you these names so that you have a connection to these people before you visit. One other wonderful part of this hotel is that staff remains for years. This is also another reason we keep on visiting. The resort has a lot going on during the day. It might seem a bit overwhelming for couples, but there is ample space to remove yourself from any and all activities when you want to be alone. For all these years I have never took part of any activities. I just spend most day on the beach and just strolling the grounds. I love to go to the kafenio after the beach (with my beachwear) and have a cup of coffee or a glass of sweet Samos wine on ice. Please make sure you try some of the sweet wine. I apologize for such a lengthy review, but after all these years this is the first review I am writing and there is just so many great things to say. A word of caution- the airport is very close, but plane noise is minimal. A few planes take off right over the resort but only a few seconds of noise. Don't let this be an issue. Last thought. If you encounter any issues or worries while at Doryssa, I encourage you to voice your concerns. Mostly everything is always resolved. A few room tips- it is best for a family not to share individual bungalows. The size is more than fine for a couple and one other person, but the third person will sleep on a cot type bed. If possible get a suite or separate rooms for more space of your children are older than 12 ish. I hope this review is helpful, and I can update you on new developments as I plan to visit again in August with more family. (Just came back two days ago.) Enjoy Samos and Doryssa!

"Nice hotel - too crowded"
07/09/15 linda045 Hassleholm, Sweden
We stayed at Doryssa a couple of years ago, so this was our second stay. The hotel has a minimalistic design and is well maintained and clean. The rooms in cleaned every day and the cleaning staff does a very nice job. Overall you will meet good service and friendly attitudes. The classic double rooms in the Hotel Part is ok for a couple. If you have 1-2 children you would need a executive suite with a sofa bed. Ask for a higher floor and balcony with sea view. Note that the sea view balcony also face the pool. If not sea view- you will face the parking lot or the scene ( with evening shows). If you choose the village part the double rooms will be smaller with no sea view. We have not stayed in the village part but it could have been a better option if you wish for a quiet stay. The pool is big and clean and has a children pool beside. My daughter usually likes the pool also I now and then take a swim, but the pool at Doryssa was crowded by people and children screaming - all day, even in the evenings. Also the beach near the hotel was crowded and the chairs taken early in the morning by people who placed their towels there before eating breakfast. If you walk a couple of steps to the right you will find a nice taverna (Kyros) and a not so crowded beach.the breakfast buffet was also crowded between 9-10 the personal had problems to fill up the fresh food. I also missed some healthy alternatives as more fresh vegetables, almonds and fruit not "drowned in sugar. We will probably not choose this hotel again in high season. We went into phytagorion every night for Dinner.about 2 km walk. Best food at casa de Roma.

"Fantastic Hotel and Staff!"

We have been regularly visiting Doryssa for the last 5 years, and due to visit again next week, can not wait!! Preferably we love to stay in the Village area of Doryssa, it's quieter, the area is made to feel more traditional and the rooms are larger. We have stayed in the main building hotel rooms once before and they are modern light and have great private balconies. We have always received a warm welcome from staff and they have taken our luggage and placed in our rooms all by the time we have checked in. Food is great! Breakfast is always fresh and loads of choice, pool side cafe does huge portions, lunch buffet is full of choice but can get quite busy. Dinner is relaxed and informal. The great thing is you can swap dinner for lunch if on half board and preferred. Although we do not spend much time in the evenings at the hotel when we have its been quiet and apart from an early kids club activity or two generally very relaxing at the bar area. Some guests seem to be on an all inclusive basis which as far as I know is not yet available to UK visitors but with such a huge array of wonderful Tavernas and bars in the harbour area it really would seem a waste. Walking to the harbour takes 15 minutes tops, gentle flat walk, and it is lit for the way home although taxis are always around. Other facilities at the Doryssa we would recommend are the village square cafe for yummy pastries and coffee, the shop is handy for a few essentials and there's a beach wear shop and crepe cafe which is open late. The sun beds and umbrellas you do pay for (about €6 last year for two beds and umbrella) but you get waiter service for drinks and snacks if needed, towels are provided and sun beds are very comfy. Beach is pebbles (we wear those fetching diving shoes which although not attractive do save you a hobble up and down the beaches in Samos) but water is crystal clear, fish galore, and other beaches nearby are also great for snorkelling. All in all I have recommended it to lots of family and friends and they too have loved the Doryssa.....10 out of 10 from us!

"Quality Resort at a nice beatiful location"
06/30/15 Robert K
Stayed for two weeks june 2015. Family of five persons. We had a great relaxing time, and the kids loved the kids-clubs and acitivities. Clean and nice beach, great buffe and alot of options in the all-incusive pool bar. Friendly staff, quite a large pool with a deep are that the kids liked. We rented a car for three days and went to other smaller beaches on day-trips. Beautifull surroundings and the starting air planes that flew over the hotel (5-10 per day) was not at all disturbning for us. This resort would have gotten a higher rating if the old part of the hotell (ie. not the village) and the pool area where more fresh and modern. As it is today it feel a little bit as an "old" hotell But in total a great stay and we are thinking of going back to this place next year!

"Best Hotel In Pythagorion"

Visited this hotel this year and previously 9 years ago. It has been massively upgraded. It has a lovely beach location (be aware it's only a few miles from the airport). The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is good.

We stayed at the Dorysa Bay Hotel 2 years ago, a few changes, you now have to pay for sunbeds on the beech 3 euros a day, but can get a week for 15 Euros, Beech towels are still free but change every 2 days. very good food for breakfast so much to choose from always fresh and good quality , Rooms very good, sheets and towels changed every day and rooms cleaned all Staff very helpful, Taxi back from Pythagorion is only 4 Euro, but walk only takes about 15 min all restaurants are good but my 1st choice was Casa Di Roma in the harbour , most give a 10% discount card , which you can use every time you go there, all told a very good holiday , not many English speaken people there, but everyone dose speak English

"Not perfect but very good"
06/23/15 iines100 Tuusula, Finland
We stayed in Doryssa for second time in summer 2014. First time was in 2011. The hotel has two different kind of areas, village and mainbuilding. At first time we were in village room and after that in the mainbuilding. I think village side is more relaxing and private so if we ever go back that's the area we gonna pick. Breakfast is good and there is much to choose from. We did not have all inclusive so we just ate dinner once. The food was tasteless and unispiring. Snacks were great from the poolbar though. Staff is not so friendly at the reception but in everywhere else they do seem to care. Atmosphere all in all is good and despite of grumpy ladies at the reception I think overall experience was very nice.

"Good for Samos but not a perfect hotel"
06/19/15 feyza y
As we stayed here for honeymoon, it was not the best choice; Doryssa is exactly a hotel for families with children. The hotel is an old one, the rooms were renewed but the outside design also needs renewal. Minibar was empty, even water was not there! The pool was not large enough and there was no space to swim as it was full of kids.
