Hotel Monterey Akasaka - Tokyo

Excellent room that is bigger than Tokyo average. Neighborhood just down the street is fantastic and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Small room as expected in Tokyo, but had all the amenities a Westerner would expect. Very cleanly, staff could communicate well in English. Pajamas provided by the hotel were cozy, located a less than 5 minute walk from the a main subway station. Downsides- no complimentary late check out, no brochures of sites to see in the area.

I was extremely happy with the service from the people who work there, especially a young man named Mr. Suzuki. He assisted me to make sure I could catch the limousine without having difficulty carrying my heavy luggage.

The hotel was very comfortable, well-air-conditioned, and had great service. We stayed for 2 weeks, however, which the hotel wasn't equipped for. For example, there wasn't a wardrobe that could hold our clothes, so we ended up living out of suitcases. Also, the laundry service was quite expensive and geared toward business guests. This hotel was very close to a number of great restaurants and the subway for getting to shopping & sightseeing. The room was small, but was clean and provided everything needed for a vacation not spent hanging out in the hotel.

Everyone spoke English here which was great for me. The lobby is very cute and the room was super clean. I don't know what else you could ask for. It was 3 blocks away from the Subway but it was pretty close to the highway so the neighborhood is really only walkable in one direction. Hotel Monterey Akasaka has been 1 of my favorite hotels to stay in Tokyo, as its a great value and just very comfortable overall. Small rooms as expected for this country, but enough room for two. Not too far from the subway. About 3 blocks but uphill. You can miss it walking by because there is a temple with red lanterns across the street which you will probably be looking at while walking up the street.

The room is small yet clean and comfortable. It even has a humidifier in the room. Hotel is well maintained. It is 10 minutes walk from the subway station. You an easily catch a taxi at the front door. With the price I paid, I couldn't ask for more.

When staying at this hotel do not expect a 5 star hotel with the trimmings, but a decent city hotel in a good location. The main pro's are the location (450m from the Metro and within reasonable distance of Roppongi, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Harajuku and Ginza districts), the price (currently good value for Tokyo) and the clenliness. The main con's are […] the lack of Wifi (pretty poor in this day and age) and limited concierge capability (the staff try to assist and will book the restaurants etc. that you want but are limited in their relevant knowledge). The hotel is very well maintained and the room was very clean. Unfortunately it was very small - although perhaps average for Tokyo hotels. Had some trouble finding the right exit at the subway station. The hotel does not have any big sign, which did not make it easier for us to find it. Over all, a very pleasant stay.

Comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Nice staff. Rooms are not very large but comfortable. No continental breakfast but theres a Starbucks one block down the road. Other hotels in the area are too large, and you have to walk a mile to get to your room. This hotel is the perfect size and only takes a minute or two to get to your room.

I thought it was a quite good hotel. Other hotels I've stayed in Tokyo are typically the size of a storage closet and there isn't enough space to turn around in the bathroom. Compared to that, my room was somewhat larger than I initially expected (still small though compared to hotels in other cities). Free wired internet in the room was a plus. The hotel itself looked relatively new, with nice decor throughout. It was located about 5 minutes from the nearest subway station, and I could catch a subway train to go to places like Tokyo station, Shibuya, and Harajuku without a transfer. The hotel was in Akasaka, which is a relatively nice, quiet area of Tokyo. Near the subway station, there were some restaurants, bars, and other businesses. So considering all these factors, I would consider staying at this place again if I have a chance to go to Tokyo again. Read more

I had only 3 days in Tokyo. I figured I wouldn't be in my hotel much so I just needed a place that was close to transportation and was comfortable (and nice) to come back to late at night. Hotel Monterey Akasaka was the perfect place. The lobby and floors all look very modern. The rooms are quite small (but all I needed was a bed and free internet […] anyway). Transportation (the Akasaka-Mitsuke station) is not even a 5 minute walk and is connected to 4 lines. The receptionists all spoke good english and gave me great suggestions. The hotel was clean and well maintained and for the rate I paid, the somewhat small double bed room was OK. The bathroom was decently sized, though not necessarily by U.S. standards. The location is a bit "out of the way" for Tokyo. Not bad, but not the best.

Its not the main tourist area and felt like a business area. This hotel is excellent. I booked a room with two beds and it wasn't too small. Staff was friendly and helpful, but not very proficient with English. Airport limousine bus drops at end of street at Excel hotel and it's about a 10 minute walk from Excel hotel to Hotel Monterey. As it's up an incline, best to take cab from Excel hotel. Great location short walk to the subway convenient to the lines that will take you most of the key sites. Nice quiet neighborhood, good place to get away from crowds. Unfortunately no wifi, but found some just outside the door. Also, Starbucks and other coffee shops down the street and area with lots of restaurants.

Hotel is conveniently located on the Hibiya metro line which is accessible from Tokyo Station and is near to Shibuya and Roppongi. Rooms are slightly bigger than the average Tokyo hotel. Only drawback is the 10 min walk uphill to reach the hotel.

The staff in the hotel is very polite. Even though we arrived earlier, they still let us check in. The hotel was nice, cozy and clean. The room was clean and modern with a very comfortable bed. the hotel room and location was fine enough, but beware, do not forget anything in your room! i accidentally forgot a bag of t-shirts at the hotel. the hotel was a little hard to reach and very expensive to call overseas repeatedly until i reached someone who spoke passable english. at first they quoted about $35 us to ship the shirts back. i thought, […] surely they can find a better rate and asked them on the phone and in the fax with my credit card number to please ship as economically as possible. and guess what they do? they fedex my shirts priority and i am charged $85 on my cc to ship t-shirts that are worth about half that. makes no sense to me. i'm not sure why that makes sense to the people at hotel monterey. The room was small but nice. The pillows were not at all comfortable but the bed was okay. Not much of a view, but overall for the price it was a really nice and cute place. It's a fair walk from the subway, so I would choose the Akasaka Excel Tokyu which is a lot closer to the Akasaka-Mitsuke Station if you have a lot of luggage. Excellent hotel. Good service. I had heard about "cramped rooms" in the reviews but we had a room that was large and roomy. In general I didn't experience one hotel in japan that had room sthat were smaller than similar hotels in Us or europe. Great place. Excellent location.

The hotel was great The room was small but the efficiency and service made up for it. we had planned our trip by ourself and needed little help from the front desk but when we did ask, they were not really able to help. This is a real stand-out hotel at this price point and is much better than the sister Monterey hotel at Ginza (which I do not rate). We have stayed at this hotel before (along with many others in Tokyo over the years) and will stay here again. The rooms are small but are comfortable, and spotless throughout. There are plenty of nice touches throughout […] the room such as windows that open (do you don't need the air conditioning on all night); quiet air conditioning; quiet refrigerator, so you won't be kept awake all night; and a TV without very bright LED's shining in your eyes when you try to sleep. Rooms are well isolated from noise so it should guarantee a good night's sleep. The bathroom is small but in very good condition, staff are excellent, and the hotel is well located by Akasaka-Mitsuke subway station. It is also very close to many places to eat, without being in the centre of town. This is now the hotel we will always try to choose first on a stay in Tokyo. Read more

I was very pleased with this hotel - from the comfort and cleanliness of the room, to the strong WiFi and surrounding area. The hotel seemed to be newly renovated or just extremely well kept.
