The room was beautiful; modern, clean and very tastefully appointed. The area the hotel is in--Insadong--was perfect. It is a very lively part of town, full of antique shops, tea houses, restaurants. My only complaint is that the hotel doesn't have an airport shuttle. I took a regular bus to a stop the hotel suggested I get out at (all easy enough) but for the first time visitor to Seoul, it was then difficult to find the hotel once I got off the bus. The locals were very helpful, though. Other than the need for their own airport shuttle, I was most satisfied with the Somerset Palace and would stay their again without any hesitation.

The line for the breakfast buffet was something you might have seen in the USSR 25 years ago! The line to get a table was even longer! The information offered by the hotel staff on various issues was not satisfactory (they could not tell me whether or not room service was available, the correct timings for the airport shuttle bus etc.). With that said, the roooms were good and OK priced, so if you do not plan to eat breakfast and you know your eway around Seoul, then Somerset Palace is an OK choice.
