Have stayed here before and was pleased again. A little bit noisy on the Lygon street side and the spa bath is very small - which was disappointing. Overall very satisfactory.

Overall our stay was fantastic, it's a well priced/positioned hotel. Only slight negative was that room was on a corner which was a little noisy and the blinds in the bathroom didn't block out enough light for sleep to come easily. (The streetlights shone through into the bedroom).

The only fault we could find with the Hotel,(very minor too) was we could not use our I Pad with our sim card as it appeared to be blocked by hotels provider, other than that everything was excellent.

Great location, really comfortable room, staff were helpful and obliging. Globe in the standard lamp exploded (it wasn't even on except at the wall) whilst we were out of the room, and we would have preferred to change rooms as there were glass shards right through the room and bathroom, but they didn't have another room. They came and cleaned it straight […] away and took the lamp base away. They replaced it the next day. These things happen sometimes and they handled it as well as they could at the time. Read more

Decent hotel close to lots of restaurants on Lygon Street. Only downside is over priced wireless internet access (although they do provide a computer with internet access in the lobby). Overall, a good value if you are looking to explore Melbourne CBD or need to be close to RMIT/University of Melbourne campuses.

It could be a pleasant place to stay but the rooms are not soundproofed enough to cope with the traffic noise all night and people walking past. There is no carpeting to muffle the sounds of suitcases being rolled along the concrete passages at all hours. Internet access is a ridiculous $13+ for 2 hours, well out of proportion to the actual cost but […] there is an internet cafe down the road. I was disappointed mainly in the bed at this hotel. Our 'King' bed was in reality two singles pushed together, making an uncomfortable ridge in the middle. While this could be helpful if you're having a fight with your partner I can't think of any other situation in which it would be ideal! A lot of street noise comes through the windows and we could […] hear the people in the next room talking, among other things. Also, there was a half empty mount franklin bottle in the fridge when we arrived. Otherwise, the location was excellent - there are a lot of nice cafes and restaurants in the street - and staff were pleasant. Great location on the CBD fringe with on-site car parking included. We stayed there in February 2012 so this was a repeat visit. The rooms have a modern feel, the bed was comfortable and with a toaster in the room breakfast with supplies from a supermarket was the money saving option.

Great place to stay. Good location between Melbourne CBD and Lygon street shopping centre. Close to good restaurants and cafes. Staff friendly. Free parking. Room spacious and clean. Some noise from nearby rooms.

Good price, within walking distance to Melbourne Central, Queen Victoria Markets, Melbourne Museum and Gallery and a few other attractions. Room was quiet and had everything I needed, the only drawback was that the bed was a bit too firm for my liking.

We had a great stay, we had chosen this hotel because it was close to tram routes, the museum, parks and gardens and CBD without being right in the city. The location was perfect, close to many eateries and sites. A comfy sofa in the room would have been nice. Fridge was in bathroom?? Couldn't order room service during the day as the chef was not there?? […] Everything else was good. The rooms were nice and room service was great. We would definitely book to stay there again as the couple of small negatives were far outweighed by the location and kingzsize comfortable bed. Read more

Excellent place to stay - cross the road to the Lygon restaurant district, couple of blocks from the museum and Swanston street trams into the city. Rooms were made up everyday with clean towels, (even when not requested) parking available for visitors during the day would definitley stay here again!!

Lovely staff - friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. The only thing I would mention was a couple of minor maintenance things like a tap that dripped and a few light bulbs along the outside balcony that needed replacing.

I was most impressed with the taste and quality of the furniture and fittings and especially with the bathroom. The room was a good size and everything seemed to be placed exactly as i would have wished. For such a centrally situated hotel the room was quiet and restful and the car-parking was a huge bonus.

Our room itself was mostly fine- huge, comfy king bed (well, actually 2 singles pushed together I think!), clean, with a nice bathroom ( a little outdated but more than happy with most aspects of it! As did the fact that there is an external balcony running along outside all rooms, with smokers hanging around the ashtrays placed along the length of it. There is also a sign saying "Free room upgrade for every 'check-in' on Facebook" handing on the balcony area. We had just checked into our room 2 minutes before we saw this sign.... We called reception to ask for the upgrade as we were prepared to do the 'Facebook check-in', but we refused, as we should have made the request when we checked in 2 minutes ago! Excellent deal on Expedia.com.au ! Stayed for four nights, in July! Close to Melbourne Central, close to restaurants, close to Melbourne museum and a short, walking distance to Melbourne trams! Hotel has good stocked bar and provides a reasonable buffet breakfast at a good price! Request a room on the south wing as you hear little of the traffic!

This hotel carries a 4 star rating but is configured as a motel, not a hotel. Also, the facilities are quite basic, with no fitness centre, swimming pool, lounge, deck, etc. Also, parking is very limited. This is a well located hotel with very convenient FREE parking. The reception staff were attentive and open 24 hrs. The interior is really more like an upmarket motel with sheltered but open balconies to the courtyard, but the room was comfortable and well appointed. Il Quality Hotel Downtowner Lygon è un hotel di buon livello, curato e gestito da uno staff davvero molto cortese e sempre disponibile per qualsiasi problema. Le camere sono distribuite su tre livelli e danno tutte su un balcone-passaggio che consente quindi anche l'accesso esterno per i fumatori senza obbligo di uscire dalla struttura. le camere sono […] ordinate e pulite. la pulizia mviene effettuata quotidianamente e con regolarità. Le camete hanno spazio sufficiente ed i bagni sono ampi e comodi. L'hotel è dotato anche di un servizio ristorante e colazione a buffet di ottimo livello qualitativo. Da considerare inoltre la posizione della struttura, appena fuori dal centro città che può essere serenamente raggiunto a piedi in 5 minuti. Ciò lo rende ottimo anche per il riposo poichè in ore notturne l'area è particolarmente tranquilla e silenziosa. Attraversando il crocevia sottostante inizia la parte di Lygon Stree denominata "Little Italy", con numerosissimi reistoranti di buon livello e negozi. Unica pecca è il servizio internet wi fi in camera a pagamento, e nemmeno a buon mercato. Nel 2010 tale servizo dovrebbe essere un valore aggiunto per un hotel nel centro di una metropoli e non un costo aggiuntivo. Il rapporto qualità prezzo rimane comunque interessante. Read more
