If you want to stay near the city center as well as stay near the less expensive restaurants then you can do no better than Welcome Apartments for the price - highly recommended.

Highly recommended. Very nice owner and the room was spacious and comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.
"Everything you need, right in the center"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 10, 2012
I was extremely pleased with my stay at the City Center Hotel. The location was excellent -- right in the center of town with a short walk to lots of cafes, restaurants, shops, and attractions. Small room, but the space was used very well and the whole hotel seemed quite new and very clean. There was some noise from the club across the street but that's the price of a central location and nothing some earplugs can't remedy. Would definitely stay here again -- great value for the price!

"Recommend Staying here"
Great location. Nice modern room. Bathroom the best part (nice size with good shower) Breakfast was not as abundant as other hotels, but the pastries were excellent, making it our favorite breakfast. The only negative was that the elevator was not working from the front door to the lobby, so we had to carry luggage down the 5-6 steps. Not a major i […] ssue. Read more
"Great value for the location"
You can't ask for a more central location to the main shopping streets and the harbor. Our room was tiny but not uncomfortable. If you're used to New York boutique hotels, then you'll have no problems. Staff can be a little cold but they did give us some good recommendations-especially on a local pool with outdoor hot baths!
"Best hotel!"
Beautiful rooms! Loved the walk in shower. Great breakfast, helpful staff, great location, walking distance to everything! My husband and I were thrilled!
"Excellent choice!"
I am thrilled that I chose to stay @ thingholt! Everything was exceptional, from the location, to the design of the lobby and rooms, and to the outstanding service. The staff was wonderfully attentive to our needs and made it their pleasure to ensure our stay was comfortable and flawless. After arriving early in the morning we were offered the full […] breakfast buffet (which is a great addition to all that the hotel has to offer) and the option to check in early (for a reasonable fee), or they would kindly hold our luggage until the standard check in time if we chose. in addition to these accomodations, the bartender @the lounge bar was kind enough to lend us a corkscrew for our room; as was the front desk receptionist to lend us an additional more powerful hairdryer. Furthermore, they were extremely helpful and efficient in assisting us with excursion and dinner plans. The room was quite comfortable andand exceptionally quiet.... we never heard anything outside or even in the halls or other rooms. Bedding was luxurious and breakfast plentiful and delicious! Central location was prime for sightseeing and shopping. overall wonderful stay and i cant wait to go back to thingholt in the future! Read more
"Nice Location, Great Service"
We had a great time on our trip. Breakfast was great and though the room was a little smaller than expected, it was well maintained and we still enjoyed our trip a lot!
"Amazing hotel, small noise factor"
My room was on the top floor and faced the outside street, so the nightlife can be very noisy and distracting. If you are not planning on joining then night life, you should request for a quieter room. My fellow travelers had rooms that face the other direction and did not have a noise issue at all. Overall I love this hotel!
Great hotel with a nice breakfast included and a great location. Good size room and helpful reception staff who happily helped book restaurants and excursions
"Ideal Location - Center of Everything"
This is a small and cozy hotel with all the amenities you need. The front desk was extremely helpful in booking last minute day trips and navigating the city. Steps from the front door are all of the shops, bars & restaurants in the center of Reykjavik -- we couldn't have asked for a better location.
"Hotel Thingholt - not perfect but worth it"
Just got back and really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Staff was very helpful and the room was nice. Location is the best part - everything is within a two minute walk. I can see where the club noise nearby could get annoying, but we used ear plugs and the noise only occurred on the weekend anyway (maybe it's more often in the summer), so it wasn't […] a huge problem. Breakfast was good - typical European morning fare plus a little more. Only complaint (a small one) is that the light and faucet controls in the room were difficult to figure out (too "euro-modern" for their own good) and getting the right temperature in the shower was more of an adventure than we'd like. But we wouldn't hesitate to stay at the hotel again or recommend it. Read more
"Center hotel Thingholt in Reykjavik"
Nice hotel. Great experience. Not much to look at on the outside, but the inside was cool. The bathroom was kinda funky, but wouldn't stop me from going. Included breakfast was good. Since food in Iceland is pricey, its the way to go
"Quiet comfort."
The room we had was pretty small but very comfortable. Despite being on the main road the room was nice and quiet unlike other hotels in the area that actually give you earplugs to sleep at night. It was clean and modern and the buffet breakfast was good. The staff was very helpful. A great stay.
"Amazing Hotel in the Center of the City"
This is a fantastic hotel, so fantastic in fact that I was motivated enough to review it. The location could not be any better, the staff was incredible, friendly and helpful. The decor is contemporary and clean. I cannot recommend it enough. I plan to return to Reykjavik soon, and won't stay anywhere else.
"Stand-out hotel"
My only regret is that my wife and I didn't stay longer at this beautiful and convenient hotel. It has a sharp-looking, modern vibe without sacrificing coziness. The staff was friendly and eager to please. The complimentary breakfast is more than adequate with a variety of tasty and healthy options. This hotel is right in the central shopping area of […] Reykjavik, so restaurants, bars and all manner of stores are within walking distance from the door. Stay here and enjoy Reykjavik in style and comfort! Read more
Great location in downtown shopping area of Reykjavik. The room we had was very nice inside and breakfast was very good. The only problem I had was that the bathroom had a sliding door which didn't slide all the way and failed to block out the semi annoying sound of the bathroom fan that couldn't be turned off. The light switches were also difficult […] to operate as they had a strange dimmer setting that sometimes I couldn't turn completely off. Read more
"Great location"
The telephone and internet system was down during the 2 out of 3 days we stayed. Breakfast lacked variety and presentation was very poor. Over all it was a very comfortable stay.
"location"
The hotel is located in a wonderful location, you can walk to anything, a wonderful rest. on each side, on of our best meals on our whole trip was here. The only neg. was the internet was not working the whole time we were there, so the phone also did not work, we had to go down to the desk and talk to them in person. The breakfast was great, lots of […] choices. Read more
"Excellent service, excellent location"
Everything about this hotel was awesome. The location was ideal. It was right off the main drag so you could easily walk anywhere and close to the port so walking over that way was easy as well. The service was great and were willing to help with any question. There was a computer with free internet in the lobby, which was a nice touch.
Staff was unpleasant. Room had awful, constant humming sound. Booked a room for four, but was given one bed.
"Like it!"
Very nice place. Small rooms but you'll out and about. Showers are killer. Kind of noisy on Saturday nights but you probably won't find another place downtown that is quiet. Folks working there were nice and helpful with suggestions and calling the tour agencies/buses. Overall, very nice.
"CenterHotel ThingHolt - In the Middle of All the A"
I think my friends who did the research on where to stay in Iceland did a great job when they picked the CenterHotel ThingHolt. When you are going to Southern Iceland, especially in the Winter, you want to be near everything and this hotel certainly delivers as it is right smack dab in the center of town! I must say, however, that this upscale boutique […] hotel is so very pleasant that I was not so inclined to leave it! ALL of the rooms are fabulous and all are different. My party of five split up into three rooms. I had a deluxe single with huge fluffy bed, enormous windows, one of my favorite things, the Honor 'Bar, and my Most Favorite Thing, a HUGE bathtub! It was divine. There was television as well, of course, but it was more fun to look out on the street and watch the world go by! Two of my friends got a Junior Suite which included a separate sitting room with a sectional and an immense coffee table where we all agreed we would meet for drinks and snacks. Again, great windows and bath. The last two in our group got a standard double that was more than adequate, with two beds, oh yes, the honor bar, and everything but the tub. Instead, they had an enormous shower and they were quite pleased. Every morning a healthy buffet breakfast was provided by the hotel. It included juice, coffee, cereals, eggs, potatoes, meats, fish, breads, etc. If you left hungry it was your own fault. I cannot say enough about the kind and gracious staff. On one day I became ill and they were especially caring and sensitive about it, bringing me things when I needed them and asking after me, showing their concern. It was much appreciated. They are also well versed about their city and can tell you how to get anywhere and give you little tips on the best places to go. According to my friends, there is nothing like going out for the weekend "crawl" and then ending up at your own cozy hotel bar and being best friends with the bartender and thawing out with your new best friends with the othe Read more

"Center Thingholt: A Gem in Reykjavik"
As someone who travels to Iceland on business a few times a year, Thingholt is one of the real pleasures in Reykjavik. Between the location and the attentiveness of the staff it is everything that a hotel should strive to be. The rooms are ample size, with plenty of room for clothing and the beds are very comfortable. If you are going to Iceland stay […] at the Thingholt, you will not be disappointed. Read more
"Some things about hotel"
Hotel is very modern and has very expensive designer furniture everywhere. Negative things - I have to comment some things that looked wierd - we had 2 flat screen TVs in the room but no clock, a room had 2 rooms but there was no place to put your clothes as the wodrobe could fit just 5-7 hangers for shirts. A bathroom does not have heating system and […] no ventilation and just one hook on the wall, so we were realy confused were to put clothes and towels. Bring shampoo and conditioner as they provide you just with shower gel. Positive - very clean, nice, polite stuff, very comfortable beds, very good breakfast, center location, close to everything. "Thingholt"
Great place but the close proximity to clubs was ridiculous and it was so loud all night. Everything else was great-breakfast was tasty and plentiful.
"Tiny Room, Amazing Location"
I'm always hopeful when I slide my electronic key into a hotel room door that I will open the door and be overjoyed by what my eyes see. I was immediately discouraged by the size of this room. Never before had I seen such a TINY hotel room. The bed was also slightly uncomfortable. However, the people were friendly, the place was modern and the bar was […] perfect. The location is exceptional. If you are not claustrophobic, this is the place for you. Read more

"A pleasant stay in the centre of Reykjavik"
You simply cannot find a more central hotel than this. Nice staff and good breakfast included. Got upgraded to a junior suite which was very nice and quite spacious. Stylish rooms and lobby. Icelanders party until 6 in the morning so some noise has to be expected:) Would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Right in the Action"
Great location, right where you want to be, with the main street and craziness happening just around the corner. Hotel staff was very cold though, and often treated us with disrespect. Be careful not to make too much noise, as the walls are paper thin and your chances of getting complaints are high.

"perfect location!"
hotel was central- able to walk to everything in reykjavik. breakfast was better than expected- a large selection of fruits, breads and meats as well as eggs, bacon sausage. the room was extremely clean but quite small- which was fine since we barely spent any time in there at all. would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here if ever in […] reykjavik again! "Great hotel in the center"
I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights on a recent business trip. The room was on the smallish side, however, the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. The windows seemed to not be very well sound insulated, as outside noises were heard easily, but I slept so deeply due to the excellent bed, that it didn't bother me. The receptionist […] was very service oriented and friendly. I had to leave with the 5:00 am bus and he organized some breakfast for me outside of the normal breakfast hours. I can highly recommend this chic hotel in the heart of Reykjavik. Read more
"Great location, value and staff"
Hotel Thingholt was a great value. The staff was helpful and went out of their way to help. My room, although oddly shaped (sloped roof), was clean and comfortable. I would gladly stay here again.
"So cool!"
The design of this hotel is stunning and our room location was ultra convenient. The only problem was that it was a bit loud at night with the bars right nearby -- but anyplace that is convenient would have this issue so there's nothing the hotel could do to deal with this issue (I spelt through it and didn't hear a thing, but it did keep my husband […] up). We spoke with other folks visiting Iceland who were in other hotels and ours always came up as the best of the pack. I def recommend this hotel. Read more
"Great Hotel"
I stayed there in October 2009. It was a great hotel and in a great location. The staff was very helpful and the room was clean and very comfortable. It included a flat screen TV, although I never turned it on as I did not spend much time in the room. Like most European hotels the room was on the smaller side, but not an issue. I would definitely recommend […] this hotel. Read more
"Nice little boutique right in centre of reykjavik"
Great location for bars, clubs of reykjavik. Also the shops and good restaurants of the centre are on the doorstep. Nice decor and decent breakfast. Would recommend.

"Luxurious but Loud"
This is one of the more luxurious hotels we have stayed in right down to the leather floors! Only, on a weekend the noise from the surrounding neighborhood pubs can make it feel like you're sleeping upstairs from a house party.
"Be in the action"
The staff and accommodations were wonderful and you'll be close to everything in the city. A bit noisy on the weekend based on the "downtown night life." Loved the room with free Internet and the lovely breakfast--which was included. A good place to stay!

"will certainly come back"
For anyone looking for a reasonably priced and comfortable hotel I truly reccomend Centerhotel Thingholt. This is right in the middle of down town Reykjavik. It might be a bit noisy for some at the weekends but you will not notice this if you become part of the crowd. Whenever i return to Iceland I will be booking back in. Cant beat it!!
"Reasonable Modern Hotel"
Hotel has modern decor and room is clean and comfortable. The only drawback is that the hotel has no signage and is hidden in the side street. Otherwise, a pleasant hotel of reasonable rate.
"Central location"
Cool boutique hotel. Breakfast should be served until later, and it's a shame that the hotel bar is not more lively as the decor is very nice. Overall a good choice.
"Not Service Oriented"
We just from Iceland and stayed at the CenterHotel in Reyjevik for two nights. The Hotel "Supervisor" never greeted us and barely looked up from her desk. No personality at all. We asked questions with little or no response. The other hotel desk personel had little knowledge of the city. It was like they all had no idea where they were. The hotel was […] in a great location in the heart of the shoping area. We stayed just before the summer explosion. Our room was on the street side and was quiet,(maybe because it was during the week). Room was very small,(expected with European rooms). We would spend the extra $ and stay at other hotels. Read more

"Pleasant Surprise!!"
Very chic and fresh hotel in the best possible location.
"Great location and nice staffs"
We were all busy before the trip so we didn't plan much. The hotel staffs are very friendly and informative. We ask them for dinner and sightseeing recommendations. We had a great time by just following them. They even made all the reservations for us. "Lovely contemporary hotel"
Lovely hotel small room but well appointed. It would have been nice if food was offered besides breakfast. They did have room service and attached restaurant at one I point as it is listed in the directory in room. Very good wifi included in price. Hotel is in a great location for all shops and restaurants and bars, staff are very accommodating and […] it was spotless. The lobby has a very funky bar lounge which is quite comfortable and has Mac for guests. Read more
"Centre thingholt , incredibly helpful staff"
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at centre thingholt hotel, it was in the perfect location just off the main shopping street. The receptionists were very helpful. The room was small but very clean, the view from our room wasnt very good. Over all I would rate this hotel very highly.
"Nice stay in Iceland"
