"Perfect family ski vacation spot"
Service is fantastic, and location cannot be beat. You walk 100 yards to ski school, lift, & gondola. Concierge staff is very helpful with dinner reservations, etc.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Mountain Village location."
Right off the free gondola to the town of Telluride. The other free gondola will take you directly to a grocery store. No vehicle is needed once you arrive. In fact, the hotel will pick you up at the local airports.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Ski Vacation!"
This is our third stay at the Franz Klammer and we are always thrilled with the above and beyond service that we receive there. The entire staff is gracious and helpful, and do everything with a smile on their face. You just don't get that much anymore! They are not just helpful with the resources in the Lodge, but they are really knowledgeable about […] everything available in Telluride/Mountain Village. The rooms are always comfortable and spacious, and you just cannot beat this location. This is our first stay in winter, and the ski valet was a great service. Step off of the slopes and hand your skis off to a friendly Franz Klammer Ski Valet for storage. Walk to the slopes the next morning, and the ski valet has your skis ready for you to carry ten steps to the lift. Nothing could be easier! We had a great vacation and will definitely be back! "Fall in Telluride is magical!"
10/13/14 Angela S Keller, Texas
Telluride is spectacular in the Fall! The Franz Klammer is a beautiful owner property located in Mountain Village. It's conveniently located near several restaurants, shops and both free gondolas. One gondola takes you to downtown Telluride and the other takes you to the grocery store. Both run from 7a-12 midnight. Although they will close for maintenance during off season starting around 10/18 until just before Thanksgiving. We were told most restaurants will close also during this time. We flew into Durango and drove the San Juan Skyway - an absolutely stunning drive to see during the Fall season. During ski season, it would be extremely convenient staying here with kids in ski school. Also during ski season, you can fly directly into Montrose and no car is necessary here with airport transportation provided and the free gondola access. The staff at Franz Klammer are exceptional! Every employee we came in contact with from the valets, Concierge, spa personnel, maintenance, etc. were extremely professional, courteous and helpful. Our unit was equipped with a steam shower that stopped working several days into our stay. It was conveniently scheduled for repair the next day while we were out on a long hike. Also, I casually mentioned to a staff member that there were no light switches outside of the master bedroom in our unit, and within 5 minutes a night light was delivered that solved the problem! Exceptional service!! The Concierge staff were great with booking dinner reservations, giving us important Telluride information and helpful tips on hiking trails. We couldn't have celebrated our 25th Anniversary in a more magical place! We would highly recommend the Fairmont Heritage Place - Franz Klammer to everyone! Best place to view sunset is on either Floor 4 or 5 on hot tub decks!
"Great all year round 5 star destination"
10/13/14 Yanks11 New York City, New York
We have been going to the Fairmont/Franz Klammer for 20 years and it is a jewel. At 9400 sq feet, you are at the base of the incomparable Telluride Ski resort and San Juan Mountains. In 20+ years, we have never waited more than 7 minutes for a lift, and usually ski right on. And we go on holiday weeks when it is the most crowded. In winter, ski on and off with a ski valet 30 feet from the lift and walk across the mountain village square with crepes, and hot dogs and real dogs, a bungee trampoline, a fire pit right into the Fairmont where you are greeted by a roaring fire, hot coffee or a nip and a smile from the incredible staff. Later, go to the spa or 4 outdoor hot tubs and enjoy the breathtaking views of the snow capped peaks. Have dinner in your full, modern kitchen and dining room with a fire burning in your room or take the free gondola for an incredible view into downtown Telluride with western charm, neat stores and myriad gourmet restaurants. If you come in the summer, substitute horseback riding, hiking, golf, and fly fishing for skiing. It is a magic place and resort.
"Fall weekend in Telluride"
10/09/14 sisqo knoxville, tn
Telluride is breathtaking! The massive mountain range surrounds the town. We stayed in Mountain Village which is above the town of Telluride. The Fairmont is located in the quaint village along with other boutique hotels. We never had to use our car because of the free public gondola that takes you into town. It was so easy to get anywhere from 7:00am to 12:00pm. We hiked the gorgeous, strenuous trails, golfed, shopped and soaked in the most beautiful place on earth!! The Fairmont is fabulous! It is a condo property and has a no tipping policy, with still, the happiest, most helpful employees. The units are gorgeous with top of the line appliances, granite, luxurious furnishings, steam shower, soaking tubs, each bedroom has its own huge bathroom and washer and dryers. There is no air conditioning which would be my only complaint. The living area has a fireplace and there is a patio. The pool is really nice too. The club is really nice with coffee and tea all day long. There are comfy couches and chairs with a huge fireplace. The concierge are very helpful too. We had the best massages and would recommend the spa. You need to stay three days or more because you really never want to leave the luxurious resort. The Mountain Village has a great grocery/wine store. You can walk, take the gondola or drive two minutes to the store. I can not explain the beauty of the San Juan mountains. Telluride is very pet friendly with dog bowls outside of stores, restaurants, etc. the Fairmont is pet friendly too. The 4 restaurants we ate at were fabulous!! Eat at Allred's at the top of the mountain-the views, ambience, staff, food-wow! A five minute gondola up the mountain-stay on- and a10 minute down ride to the shops in a Telluride. A lot of hikes start from downtown which was fun to hike and then eat lunch. The Mountain Village has a huge stone courtyard are with tables, couches and firepits. We are summer outdoor activity people, but Telluride is supposedly the hidden gem for skiing. There are so many ski in and out from the Village area. They have opened some more trails this year for backcountry skiers. Getting to Telluride, you will fly to Denver (5 hours away), or Montrose (1 hour away) We were told shuttles run to airports in winter. Then you never need a car again -due to gondola. Lastly, like most mountain villages in Colorado, their offseason is October 20-November 20. This means employees take their vacations, restaurants close, gondola closes, stores close, so maybe plan around that time. Please visit Telluride and the Fairmont - you will not be disappointed. We almost never left!!
"A Great Resort Destination for any Pet(Dog) owner."
09/23/14 wicky2014 Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
From the moment we arrived we felt we are at the right place to be for the next 6 days. We had our Labradors with us and the Resort is well equipped to welcome pet owners. The entire staff was very accommodating, out going and very willing to please. The Concierge staff was always able to assist us with any type of information about the areas hiking trails etc. The entire team signed a Birthday Card for me. The Housekeeping staff was very good in keeping our Residence in very good shape the entire time. This is definitely a Resort to recommend to all our friends and for us to go back and visit. Well done, and keep up the good work.
"Incredible Hotel in a Nice Ski Village"
09/16/14 Todd H Los Angeles, California
We visited Telluride with two of our friends we usually travel with. I got an amazing deal on a three bedroom suite, but too bad we only had two couples with us so one room sat empty. Telluride's elevation is very high, one of our friends was getting altitude sickness on the drive from the airport and luckily they have an oxygen bar at the hotel. Our suite was so nice and spacious, way larger than our condo back home. We've always had great stays at any of the Fairmont properties, this was no exception. The location is great too, right in the village, walking distance to many restaurants and shops. We were close to the gondola and were able to see a lot of the town easily. We even met Ralph Lauren in town walking his dog. We also took a jeep tour which took us way up the mountain to see some incredible views, I highly recommend doing a tour if weather permits. I just wish we stayed longer, a few nights was not enough.

This is the most amazing place we have ever stayed - and we have stayed in a lot of fine hotels around the globe. Telluride is gorgeous and the Franz Klammer is spectacular in every way. The condos are really nice and comfortable with kitchens (Sub Zero throughout) and great mountain views. Service is all you could ask for. We are returning ASAP.
"First Trip to Telluride Film Festival - GREAT SPOT"
09/07/14 c3hoosier Northern California
For our first trip to Telluride, and our much anticipated attendance at the Telluride Film Festival, this location is just fabulous. It's proximity to the Chuck Jones theater is ideal, as well as numerous places to shop, dine, and relax. Depending on your room placement, there are some spectacular views to enjoy. I will say that it was a bit warm in the rooms in the afternoon and evening, which made it difficult for sleeping at times. The staff was great, the service top-notch, and while the rooms were clean and spacious, the property is in need of some upgrading on the decor side. We'd stay there again because of the location, but would consider other property's as well.
"Franz Klammer for Telluride Film Festival"
09/04/14 Nicola F
Location is perfect with Telluride Film Festival ACME Pass for quick access to Chuck Jones venue for cinema overdose. Our accommodation at Franz Klammer has two king bedrooms with private bath, kitchen, living room, patio and all expected amenities. Only downside of this beautiful property in spectacular Telluride is there was construction just outside our window and not much view. That was mitigated by jumping on the nearby gondola and enjoying the scenery (with supplemental oxygen of course).
"Excellent Timeshare Experience in Telluride"
08/19/14 LuxNomadTraveler Silicon Valley
I was very pleasantly surprised with the Franz Klammer. The view from the room was stunning (you want to ensure you have a room on the 4th or 5th floor looking down the valley (away from the village)). There was a hot tub deck at the end of the hall with a BBQ area and a fair number of people just picked up steaks did a quick grill and headed back to their room. There is a pool but its quite small. The service was terrific throughout the hotel. The room was well appointed with a Wolf range and a Subzero fridge as well as a host of pans and basic seasonings. In advance of your stay, Fairmont will do all your grocery shopping or the local store is only a gondola ride away (fun way to shop). Both bedrooms were master suites with great spa tubs (both had views as well). There was a small patio as well. There is a small spa with excellent services that were very reasonably priced (lower than resort spa prices because they said they operate as a service for the owners, not as a profit center). The nightly price is steep but its perfect for 2 couples or a family. The price also includes transportation to/from Montrose Airport which is about 90 minutes away. We will definitely return for a longer stay.
"No AC = Bad for hot months"
07/07/14 TLCoker0312 Dallas, Texas
The staff is great! They tried to make things work for us but if you don't have AC and it's 90 outside there isn't a lot that can be done. I wish I had a read a review that said something about this. The summer months should be fairly mild in Colorado, but this past week was not mild. We had fans in front of doors and windows to try and circulate some air but when you have all the windows open you encounter bad allergens coming in and of course smoke from smokers passing by. If you do stay here in the summer months DO NOT STAY ON THE 1ST FLOOR! The higher up the better for a chance at the breeze. Honestly, even when it was cool outside we woke up with sore throats because the air temp can't be regulated. I guess my point is we didn't stay at a high end hotel to feel like we were camping!!!!!!!!!! This is not a normal hotel where you have your towels changed, trash taken out, beds made. You truly are on your own unless you call and ask someone to come in and do it but be specific. We asked for more towels and they left all the dirty ones and just set piles of clean ones on the bench in the foyer. The location is great for access to the gondola which you have to get on in order to get to town to see the fireworks on July 4th. Be aware that the line becomes about an hour long and you cannot see any fireworks from Mountain Village. I am sure this is a nice place to stay during the winter but for the Summer Months I do not recommend the hotel. I would recommend Hotel Madeline. My grandmother stayed there and it's second to none. Great restaurant, air conditioning, a real hotel. VERY NICE!
