Capri by the Sea - San Diego

Wonderful all around stay for my family. Our room had kitchen/dining room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a living room area. All rooms open on to small balconies that overlook the ocean. Our room was very clean and well maintained. We wanted to see the sights around San Diego, otherwise we would have never needed to go farther than walking distance […] from our room. You do have to pay for extra towels and room cleanings depending on the length of your stay, but my family never needed anything during our weekend stay. Desk staff was friendly and helpful. Easy access to the beach, and a private parking space for your entire stay. There is a pier near by that you can rent fishing equipment by the hour, and Konos Surf Club Cafe is excellent for breakfast. A great place to go and great value for your money. Read more

Capri by the Sea is located right on Pacific Beach. It doesn't get much better from a view stand point. I was disappointed by the condo. The unit was not well maintained. When we brought it to the property managent's attention they offered to move us the next day. We loved it! Since the condos are privately owned, we heard that some of the units had furniture that was quite outdated. Ours was old, but well maintained. It would not have bothered me it the furniture was outdated, the ocean view and the proximity of the property to restaurants and bars, beach, boardwalk, etc... made up for it.

As a family of four we were looking for more room than the average hotel. The Capri was perfect for out needs with two large bedrooms, living area and kitchen. And, an outstanding view of Pacific Beach and the ocean beyond. We will definitely come back for another visit.

Pros: 1) That ocean view and smell was wonderful! Cant beat the view for the price anywhere else in Pacific Beach. 2) The space was really nice. We had a two bedroom and it had ample space and beds for six. 3) Security was good which was nice since the doors and locks are so old and each of the units themselves are not all that secure. Cons: 1) Outdated […] EVERYTHING. The carpet was nasty, the showers leaked terribly, the furniture was low end, the bedding had stains and tears and was all faded, etc. 2) The mattresses were AWFUL. They were so hard and old-very uncomfortable. We ended up sleeping mostly on the FLOOR with the bedding. If we stayed again, we'd bring blow up mattresses which would be more comfortable. 3) Heat and A/C didnt work. Read more

The corner unit ocean views from the 11th floor were awesome. Liked the secuirty system for the garage/elevator/entry points. Located in the heart of PB for walking, biking, shopping and eating. Wish the carpeting and bedcoverings were updated - some units have been updated, ask for those but don't sacrifice 'corner' views.

We stayed in a 2-bedroom condo in Capri by the Sea and loved it. The location is excellent -- close enough to needed grocery and drug stores, but off the main strip for peace and quiet. Walkable distance to main street tourist rentals, shopping, clubs and restaurants. The front staff was very helpful and friendly. We felt like pampered guests. The security […] is tight. We loved falling asleep and waking up to the ocean. Each condo faces the sea and comes with floor to ceiling windows to take advantage of that incredible scene. Walk out balcony is great if you want to step outside for a moment of fresh sea breezes -- standing room only though. The cleanliness of the place was top rate; no concerns there. The full kitchen was a bonus in order to save a few pennies on breakfasts and lunches or late night snacks. The beach is less than 50 yards from the main lobby. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. We stayed over the holiday Thanksgiving weekend and never heard a peep from another room. It was absolutely PERFECT. Read more

It's an odd arrangement. Location is superb-- 70 yards off the Pacific Beach surf, and all the rooms overlook the ocean. But it is run much more as a condo spot than a hotel-- no daily maid service for example (though you can schedule such for an extra charge). You can't beat the views that all units have, overlooking the ocean. The location is great since it is at the end of the boardwalk away from the busiest sections. I highly recommend this condo/hotel. The view of the ocean is awesome. The beach is a short walk down a flight of stairs. You're within walking distance of everything you might need. The furniture comfortable and pleasing. Nice big kitchen. Beds comfortable. The only negative thing I have to say is the sheets were not fitted. So they kept pulling out […] and the bed was filled with wrinkles which makes it difficult to sleep. I mentioned it to the staff and they changed the sheets to king size for the queen sized bed. That definitely helped. The sheets were very high quality soft cotton but the lack of fit was a bummer. However, as mentioned, this was the only negative thing I had to say about my experience. We had a problem with our reservations and had to move three times in a week - but the best thing was the hotel staff who fixed maintenance issues, helped us move - and were just all around great. Lady housekeeper with long brown hair was exceptional - kudos. The building could use an updating.
