"Fine for a short break"
07/08/14 Caddy1 Oswestry, Shropshire, SY11
Taking advantage of a cheap Brittany Ferries short break deal to Roscoff, we needed a similarly reasonably priced hotel in the area: the Campanile fitted the bill. As others have said, it provides cheap, comfortable motel-style accommodation with friendly staff. We asked for a quiet room and were provided with exactly that: one in the middle of the ground floor at the back of the block and we heard nothing of the traffic on the main road beyond the hotel grounds. The beds were very comfortable and there was no shortage of hot water or of storage space. If you looked closely, there were signs of wear and tear in the room and stains on the walls, but otherwise everywhere was very clean. We had breakfast both mornings, which was self service with a wide selection from which to choose, and that set us up until well past lunchtime. The location of the place, within a commercial zone, is scarcely scenic and the nearby road junction is very busy at certain times of day, but at least after closing time for the commercial units in the zone the surroundings are very quiet. For a cheap and comfortable base on a short break, the Campanile is fine. Ideally, I would rate it at three and a half as "Average" seems too dismissive, but "Very Good" is too generous.
"Needs a facelift"

Have stayed at many Campaniles previously but this one definitely needs updating. No air-conditioning, front door mechanism broken and difficult to use, toilet cracked, bath panel also cracked, bathroom door had a hole, not very clean. On the plus side, we slept well in a comfy bed despite the heat. TV and WiFi were appreciated. The restaurant was fully booked when we arrived at approx 18:00. As we didn't fancy venturing out for a meal after a tiring day, we were grateful the local hypermarche was open so we could buy a picnic to take back to our room.
"Comfortable no frills motel"

This motel was fine for one night, it was cheap, clean and the beds were new and comfortable. The bathroom had a great power shower and although it was basic it was very clean also. The manager was extremely helpful and accommodating, we enjoyed our stay. We didn't eat in the restaurant but did have a drink later in the evening and we would return again if we were in the area.

Stayed here for one night before catching the early-morning ferry from nearby Roscoff. The hotel is perfectly adequate for a brief one-night stop-over but any longer would cause concern! The hotel stands right beside a major road, so is easy to find but quite noisy in the night. The accommodation block is basic but clean however there were no plugs in the room spare to charge phones etc. Nearby (2-minute drive or 5-minute walk) is a very good Buffalo Grill that serves decent steaks and burgers, but there's nothing else nearby. The staff were very friendly and if you want a cheap room before a ferry then this is acceptable.

We use Campanile as the onsite restaurant is of reasonable quality. We arrived after 8 hours driving on a sunday, o be told, without explanation or apology that the restaurant was closed and the nearest was half a mile away. Our room was extremely cold, and took 4 hours to come to a comfortable temperature. Despite few guests, our room was up two flights of external stairs and on the side of the hotel nearest the road. Not a good experience, and we may well not use Campanile again.
"Ideal stop-off en route to ferry."
09/03/13 Lianne S Plymouth, United Kingdom
Just what we expected - clean, well-decorated, decent-sized comfortable bedroom. Clean, crisp bedlinen and immaculately clean and spacious bathroom. Ideal for the ferry port at Roscoff when you have an early morning crossing (cheaper than a cabin on an overnight ferry!). There isn't much to see or do near this hotel and you definitely need to have a car. We were disappointed that the restaurant on site was only open on Mon-Thurs evenings. Found it very difficult to get in to any local restaurants within close driving distance as they were all so busy on a Saturday night. However, at 39 euros a night, we have no real complaints for our 1 night stop-off. Excellent value for money.
"Handy for Roscoff"

Stayed here overnight before early ferry to Plymouth. Basic accommodation but clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and tried their best to make you welcome. The restaurant is OK for a basic meal - but it was freshly cooked and was hot and tasty. They were happy to put ice packs in the freezer to keep cheese purchased in Casino Géant over the road in peak condition! At special rate of €40 a bargain.
"Just what you need for an overnight stop"

We stayed here having arrived on the evening Plymouth Roscoff ferry. We were driving down to Charente Maritime the next day and the Campanile was an ideal place to stay outside of Roscoff. I had booked online directly with Campanile as they had the best price. Then cancelled and rebooked straight away when they put the prices down. We arrived about 9:30pm and received a friendly welcome and given the keys to our rooms. Noticed there was a Buffalo Grill nearby, which I wish I had known about beforehand. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and functional which, for just an overnight stay is just what we wanted. The room had tea and coffee facilities, TV and free wifi and the beds provided a good nights sleep. We had breakfast at the Campanile before continuing our journey, which was fine. We would happliy stay here again. It is what it is, fairly basic but low cost.
"Cheap and cheerful"
09/01/12 CriticsView London, United Kingdom
Well maybe not cheerful but it's not bad value for money if you just want somewhere to sleep. Check in and pay with a card in a machine. Rooms are basic but clean. Campanile restaurant just opposite is best left alone.
"Overnight to meet the ferry"
06/29/12 Lynette9 Adelaide, Australia
We enjoyed the one night we stayed here. It was very comfortable and had good facilities. The location is perfect to meet the ferry and there are good shops within walking distance though you really need a car to stay here. We walked to the Buffalo Grill and ate a very tasty "American" style dinner. We would definitely stay there again and we were very pleasantly surprised as I had read some bad reports. I have stayed in worse places and paid a lot more.
