"A bit of Scotland in Israel"
Great location and friendly staff. They arranged the BEST tour guide for us. Morris was his name. The only negative for us was it was not handicap friendly. Otherwise loved it.

"Not good, very disappointed."
We all were very disappointed, we had read very positive comments about this hotel only to discover the rooms were not updated, not clean, no blankets, so we slept with our coats on, for the most expensive hotel we stayed at, this was not what we expected. Also, the restaurant was closed for dinner so they offered to put place mats on the round tables in the bar to eat. The room had no TV changer, when I called the maintenance person came and got on his stomach and searched under the bed. The grounds were nice, they even opened the workout facility early which was nice, but for their reputation, they clearly have their eye off the ball, a update is needed. The American Colony in Jerusalem and the Norman in Tel Aviv were head and shoulders better.

"Friendly, unique hotel with a few rough spots"
Arrival was a little confusing, since it is not clear where to park. (You have to pull up to the gate and buzz reception.) Parking can be very tight, but the staff will assist in squeezing you into a space. The front desk's clerk could not have been more friendly, and he spoke perfect English. He gave us all the details about the hotel from memory -- opening times and locations for the restaurant, spa, etc. The room, though acceptable, was showing signs of age. Indeed, the room's hotel services directory heralded the upcoming arrival of their new spa...coming in 2008! Needless to say, these pages were not in good condition, and it's high time this book was updated. Wifi in the room was awful, and was so slow (or even nonexistent at times), such that I found it usable. Bar prices were knock-your-socks-off expensive. The hotel boasts a wide selection of different types of scotch, but we didn't think it was worth the money. There are plenty of more reasonably priced bars in proximity. Breakfast was the best we had in Israel. The buffet offered fresh-brewed coffee, an egg station, and a wide selection of pastries, breads, and meats. Tiberias was packed. And yet, despite all the noise, gridlock, and general hustle and bustle, the hotel provided a peaceful sanctuary while still being within easy walking distance of all the action. I would return.

"Scots hotel"
Good but not great hotel. Very pretty old buildings but only fair rooms. Rooms on smaller side but clean and overall comfortable. Nice breakfast buffet and staff helpful. Probably the best choice to stay in Tiberius .

"Say it isn't so"
Disappointing stay at the Scot's Hotel. Expedia charged us $525.00 for an exclusive room for 3 people. This is a joke. 3 Adults cannot fit in this room. Bugs in the room. The front desk was rude and condescending. Will never stay there again.

"Poor overall value for the money"
This hotel is way overpriced. The pictures on the Hotels.com website are not consistent with what you actually get. Our room for 3 showed 3 separate beds on the website. We ended up with 2 beds and a couch that was too short for our 17 year old boy. The website upcharged substantially for this but when we got there we were told that the third bed upgrade was another substantial fee. The room was very small. I have nothing to compare this hotel to in Tiberias but the room size we received for the rate we paid is exorbitant compared to hotels we have stayed in throughout Europe and the Middle East. Also, if you are interested in actually getting into the Sea of Galilee, they have no beachfront access. The breakfast buffet was top notch.

"Strangely run"
Lovely historic hotel and grounds are beautiful. Staff we found were mostly unhelpful, even bordering on rudeness in a couple of instances. They certainly did not put themselves out to help. Dinner and breakfast were self service....no one offered us wine or drinks. Usually hotels serve coffee etc at breakfast and offer a wine list at dinner! A nice pool but opening hours are kept secret. We watched from the gardens as many hopeful swimmers were turned back as the pool had closed. So mainly surly staff but nice gardens. A 5 star hotel run as if it was a hostel is how we would describe it.

"Scots Tiberius"
The hotel is truly lovely with delightful well kept gardens and a fabulous pool area. Great breakfast and best fresh mint and lemonade drink we have ever had. Upgrade to Antique rooms if you can. They have character rather than the generic bland rooms in the new building. Tiberius is very tired but the surrounding countryside is beautiful

Bar closes early. Close to the promenade which is very nice. Spectacular views. Adjacent spa very average but has nice artwork. Bought a painting. For those room rates (some of the most expensive in Tiberias). internet access should be included without a ridiculous complicated user name/password that must be hand delivered to your room. The extra charge for that service is insulting and should be deleted.

"Very Nice stay in Tiberias"
04/25/16 Vardit D Kfar Saba, Israel
This is a very nice "boutique" hotel on the beach of the Sea of Galilee. We had a simple room in the modern building. It was nice and comfortable but nor worth the money we paid for it.Dinner was great and so was breakfast with a large selection of tasty and fresh courses. Service was good although they were very busy. Food is not kosher. Internet connection was very poor. Overall it was a bit pricey for what you get.

"Excellent vacation in Tiberia"

We stayed in the hotel for three nights. The staff is friendly and doing their best to help you. The room was clean and comfortable. We had half board. The food was excellent. There are a lot of options during breakfast and dinner. I recommend eating in the hotel even if you go traveling out of the hotel. There are no good restaurants in Tiberia. The pool and SPA are great! We are sure we will come back! Thank you Peter For the hospitality!!!

"Only place to stay"

Ok I'll start this review by mentioning I'm really picky and the Scots hotel bumped us from the room we booked 4 months ago for a group of very wealthy Catholic tourist. They did compensate us with two nights of dinner, which was kind but I'm not so happy This town is filled with budget hotel and if you want a nice place to stay this is the only place to stay. They know it! The place is filled with very wealthy Catholic tourist as this hotel is owned by the Scottish church. It is on a beautiful spot over looking the sea. The staff may be burned out by the clientele. Every request seems like a burden to them. I wanted a bottle of water in my room and it was an ordeal getting it. You are forced to eat here and the buffet is extensive. The salads and desert were great, very European. They were shocked when I asked for pita bread. The main courses on the buffet were terrible. The breakfast buffet is extensive. The spa is very small the pool disappointing and the breach closed. The rooms are nice in the older portion of the hotel. We were bumped out of the lake view room which would be best. Ask for 606 or 607. There is a more modern tower with rooms I did not see. Go, be nice to the staff and be forewarned about the food!

"A MUST when traveling to Israel!"

This hotel was a pleasure from start to finish. We did not want to leave. We traveled with a group and when we arrived they greeted us with smiles and they were so helpful. Checking in was so easy! The rooms are very comfortable with all of the necessities. I think one of my favorite things would be the food. Incredible! They have a really nice bar, and places outside to just sit and talk. Great experience!

"Nice hotel overlooking the Sea of Galilee"
03/20/16 Robert B Overland Park, Kansas
The staff was very helpful. The meals were excellent. The only hiccup was the housekeeping staff forgot to leave bath towels when they cleaned the room. This was quickly rectified when the staff was notified. The hotel is a renovated hospital from the 1880s. The hotel rooms are in different buildings that have been repurposed. We stayed in the one that the priest lived in and were very pleased ... there was also one where the doctor lived. Overall a nice place to stay.

"Lovely hotel from staff to room to meals to grounds"
03/17/16 michelle D Tel Aviv
I just got back from the scots hotel, read some reviews and I can't believe they are about the same hotel - even if the rooms differ a little. I Liked everything - the atmosphere the service (outstanding) - all the staff, the room & bathroom - very clean, nice toiletry , I don't remember getting such thick towels, nice furniture, tea and coffee making facility . The stone buildings, the grounds and their decor, the statues and paintings, The view - our room faced lake Kinneret . The food - dinner and breakfast self service - many dishes to choose from, Many deserts, Juice made on the spot from fresh oranges tables arranged very nicely, attention to design. We also used the spa and the service was very professional. There was even free tea - many kinds , wonderful cookies, Sparkling wine The only thing I would ask to improve is the lightning in the room but that is minor to what we received during our stay

"The Good, Bad, Ugly"

Beautiful location. Our room had a gorgeous view with a lovely terrace. However the rooms were dirty, stained rugs and dirty couch. Unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. Also although we had a terrific view our room was quite far away and somewhat uphill. Difficult if you have any physical issues. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Restaurant upstairs was below average. My wife could not eat her dinner. Mine was marginal. I would think twice before returning.

"A study in contrasts"
03/03/16 JAMBrooklyn New York City, New York
So to be clear, I really enjoyed my stay here and slept very well. The hotel is located in several buildings. One of our rooms was in the first building where the rooms were modern, if simple--very hotel like. My room was in the Doctor's House and it was another animal. The bathroom was modern, but the room itself was classic "old grande dame"---kind of ornate, kind of old and yet likable. You can't go there thinking it will be a chic, modern experience. The included dinner was a decent buffet (if a little loud as there was a large group staying there), but the small upstairs bar was a little sad. If you had a big group, you could really have fun there, but we were the only ones who seemed to use it our entire stay. Although we were there in February, we couldn't help but notice that the pool across the bridge by the Sea looked really nice. I would definitely have used it if the weather would have allowed. The grounds of the hotel are quite lovely as were our views. Again, I really enjoyed my stay and I think you will too, as long as you understand what you are in for.

"Took 10 rooms for a film crew and they loved it"
02/27/16 orenrosenfeld Jerusalem, Israel
I booked 10 rooms at this beautiful Hotel that even makes Tiberias look and feel beautiful despite being a dirty run down city long past its days of glory and now showing signs of change but not enough. So enough about Tiberias this Hotel enabled us to step directly into comfort and beauty, the breakfast was amazing and staff extremely friendly. Had a a few minor issue but lack of attention to detail in Israel has always been a unsolved enigma. First they had no rain covers for the luggage wagon that they left in the pouring rain soaking our gear, also the they left us alone to bring it all up to our rooms they all disappeared suddenly never to be seen again. Hope that's next time these two minor issue will be resolved rain covers for those golf carts can't be hard to come by as well as efficient bell boys.

"Great location, but the rooms are motel-like..."
02/24/16 Global_Photographer Chicago, Illinois
The hotel is well located along the water. The staff are quite helpful. The rooms are very dated. They were dimly lit and the furnishing seemed more appropriate for an institution, rather than an otherwise upscale hotel. We enjoyed the restaurant. The breakfast buffet was generally good, but not always refreshed as frequently as one would like.
