Good but not great hotel. Very pretty old buildings but only fair rooms. Rooms on smaller side but clean and overall comfortable. Nice breakfast buffet and staff helpful. Probably the best choice to stay in Tiberius .Genuine Expedia guest review
"Poor overall value for the money"
This hotel is way overpriced. The pictures on the Hotels.com website are not consistent with what you actually get. Our room for 3 showed 3 separate beds on the website. We ended up with 2 beds and a couch that was too short for our 17 year old boy. The website upcharged substantially for this but when we got there we were told that the third bed upgrade […] was another substantial fee. The room was very small. I have nothing to compare this hotel to in Tiberias but the room size we received for the rate we paid is exorbitant compared to hotels we have stayed in throughout Europe and the Middle East. Also, if you are interested in actually getting into the Sea of Galilee, they have no beachfront access. The breakfast buffet was top notch. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Lovely historic hotel and grounds are beautiful. Staff we found were mostly unhelpful, even bordering on rudeness in a couple of instances. They certainly did not put themselves out to help. Dinner and breakfast were self service....no one offered us wine or drinks. Usually hotels serve coffee etc at breakfast and offer a wine list at dinner! A nice […] pool but opening hours are kept secret. We watched from the gardens as many hopeful swimmers were turned back as the pool had closed. So mainly surly staff but nice gardens. A 5 star hotel run as if it was a hostel is how we would describe it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is truly lovely with delightful well kept gardens and a fabulous pool area. Great breakfast and best fresh mint and lemonade drink we have ever had. Upgrade to Antique rooms if you can. They have character rather than the generic bland rooms in the new building. Tiberius is very tired but the surrounding countryside is beautifulGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Bar closes early. Close to the promenade which is very nice. Spectacular views. Adjacent spa very average but has nice artwork. Bought a painting. For those room rates (some of the most expensive in Tiberias). internet access should be included without a ridiculous complicated user name/password that must be hand delivered to your room. The extra charge […] for that service is insulting and should be deleted. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful gardens and great food"
Despite a somewhat non-friendly welcome by the young and not very professional receptionists, we enjoyed our stay at SCott's Hotel. The garden is beautiful, and we tried the evening buffet, which was excellent. Also, great pool and spa area. With a bette service attitude, this could be a very good place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely hotel but little things spoil it"
The hotel is very well finished, ideal for a quiet break in peaceful Galilee. Food is excellent but service was poor for the money we paid ($450 per night for standard (unique) room). Most waiting staff spoke very little English (didn't know spoon, tap water etc) which made things tricky! $70 each for evening buffet meal but coffee was then extra! Not […] quite what we expected for the money. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Definently a nice experience."
After a week with 4 different hotels, this was amazing. Right from the receival in the reception during check-in to the attentive waiter in the restaurant. The service was amazing, the food was high quality with an eye for details and the surroundings was beautiful and comfortable. We will definitely recommend this hotel for the future. The price of […] our stay matched the level of the hotel, especially when compared with other hotels. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel interessante com comida péssima"
O hotel é bonito, bem localizado, mas o buffet do jantar além de ser caríssimo, a qualidade da comida é abaixo da critica.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"beautiful old style hotel"
Beautiful hotel, very comfortable, great service, great food. I had a suite in the old "Doctors House" which was very nice. I can very much suggest to tahe the buffet dinner there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Historische plek in Tiberias"
"A Good Experience"
08/21/14 Amit B Tel Aviv, Israel
The hotel is a renovated hospital, about 100 years old. The architecture and feel of the black basalt stone, open arches and tall ceilings is magnificent. The grounds are well designed, beautifully lit at night and offer a great view of the Sea of Galillee. Although on the main road, the hotel is elevated from street level and makes for good noise reduction. The restaurant is not Kosher, which is rare in Israel and allows for meals that are not found in other hotels. The staff is very forthcoming, the rooms are elegant and comfortable. We were surprised by the large number of children, we had expected the place to be more oriented to high-end travellers. It was a bit crowded and noisy (but that's August ...). There's not much to do around the hotel and in Tiberias itself. All in all it was a good experience, we had a great time.
"Great boutique hotel"

This was our second visit at the hotel and as then as now: the hotel is very clean, Courtesy and service of the staff is Excellent and remarkable. Spacious and clean room, very comfortable bed. Meals in the dining room is very varied and very tasty food.
"great mix of old and new"
08/09/14 guzikevitch Tel Aviv, Israel
19th century buildings, but very well kept. clean, excellent service. Antique rooms are preferable: very roomy ~35 sq mr + nice bathroom and all high end facilities. Not much to see from windows though (no balcony), so the "lake side" doesn't really worth the extra charge. lower floor rooms are nicer since they have high arched ceiling. food is very good, not as much selection as customary in israeli 5 star hotels. have a pool and private lake beach, very stony though. not recommended for children. notice that during 2 weeks in august and in january there is no guest entertainment.
"A gem in the middle of nowhere"

The Scots Hotel at St Andrew's Galilee was a pleasant surprise and not what you would expect to see in this region. Its' history dates back to 1885 when a 23 yr old surgeon, by the name of David Watt Torrance fro Airdrie, Scotland, arrive to set up the Scottish "Mission of the Jews". The area needed a hospital and so a medical mission was established. The hotel is made up of 4 main areas, the David Building, which is the reception and restaurant and bar, the herbert, Doctor's House and the Old Manse which forms the accommodation. There is an archaeological garden as well as herb gardens which you can stroll through. From here you can cross the bridge to the Lakeview Wellness centre and spa and the swimming pool. The grounds are beautiful with artwork displayed throughout the property. I was only there one night, but my time there was excellent. Staff were attentive, room was well appointed and the Torrance Restaurant was fantastic. (Check out my separate review for this). Above the restaurant is a great bar, lounge and library area. It was a great find - well worth the visit.

We arrived early so we can enjoy a peaceful time by the pool, when a group of over 40 people arrived and started playing volley ball at the pool, they were loud noisy and inconsiderate, Absolutely not a 5 star hotel, for those who expect a peaceful surrounding you may want to look for another place. The management should not ignore the written rules of the hotel, which they did in this case. The management should do more to accommodate their guests, we didn't stay and left disappointed.
"Beautiful Hotel and Views"

What a gorgeous hotel. The views from the hotel are amazing and its location is great. We walked to all the restaurants and sites. The boardwalk is a few blocks away and the hotel is on the water. There is no access to the Kinneret from the Hotel, but there are several great beaches nearby. The staff is very professional and helpful. We got a guide and toured the Golan Heights and Tiberias in less than a day. The food is good, but the hotel is not Kosher so be aware of this if you are Kosher. Great breakfast buffet each morning. The pool is very good also. We had our 3 and 6 year old girls with us and they loved it. This is the most beautiful hotel we have stayed at in Israel and we love the North.
"Ok but not great"
07/10/14 Spencemarc Berkhamsted, United Kingdom
Excellent reviews but in my opinion it was just ok. Nice rooms, reasonable breakfast and decent service but over priced! Small things like the free bottle of water in my room wasn't replaced! The bar closed at 11pm even though they were advertising the word cup. That said they have a fantastic selection of whisky.

Scots Hotel is definitely one of the best hotels in Israel. It has an interesting historical heritage and is situated next to the beautiful sea of Galilee. Excellent food, very good service, nice tranquil pool, gardens and places to sit, and very comfortable large rooms.. Highly recommended.

Definitely a good choice for Tiberias. There isn't a lot of decent selection here. The Scots is definitely at a 4-1/2 star level no doubt. The service was excellent and the rooms were clean and well equipped. Breakfast was excellent as well with a large, fresh selection of food. There is one note of improvement though, the free WiFi has a poor and varied connection and strength. I was in the hallway on the floor trying to get a signal because I couldn't connect in my room (509) not that I wanted to surf the net but simply to check my email. Overall I would stay here again.
"Food and bartender great rooms poor"
07/07/14 cchriscap new jersey
Hotel was a hospital . Nice location but poor service and the rooms are not worth the price very small. Mark the bartender was great!!!! Lot of up and down to get to room from front desk. Bathroom towels need to be used for rags!
