"Poor overall value for the money"
This hotel is way overpriced. The pictures on the Hotels.com website are not consistent with what you actually get. Our room for 3 showed 3 separate beds on the website. We ended up with 2 beds and a couch that was too short for our 17 year old boy. The website upcharged substantially for this but when we got there we were told that the third bed upgrade […] was another substantial fee. The room was very small. I have nothing to compare this hotel to in Tiberias but the room size we received for the rate we paid is exorbitant compared to hotels we have stayed in throughout Europe and the Middle East. Also, if you are interested in actually getting into the Sea of Galilee, they have no beachfront access. The breakfast buffet was top notch. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best in Tiberias"
Scots is a real treat. There are many hotels in Tiberias, but this is certainly worth paying a little extra. The hotel itself is very nice, but the service is top-shelf, the location is ideal, and the breakfast is AMAZING!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Bar closes early. Close to the promenade which is very nice. Spectacular views. Adjacent spa very average but has nice artwork. Bought a painting. For those room rates (some of the most expensive in Tiberias). internet access should be included without a ridiculous complicated user name/password that must be hand delivered to your room. The extra charge […] for that service is insulting and should be deleted. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful gardens and great food"
Despite a somewhat non-friendly welcome by the young and not very professional receptionists, we enjoyed our stay at SCott's Hotel. The garden is beautiful, and we tried the evening buffet, which was excellent. Also, great pool and spa area. With a bette service attitude, this could be a very good place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely hotel but little things spoil it"
The hotel is very well finished, ideal for a quiet break in peaceful Galilee. Food is excellent but service was poor for the money we paid ($450 per night for standard (unique) room). Most waiting staff spoke very little English (didn't know spoon, tap water etc) which made things tricky! $70 each for evening buffet meal but coffee was then extra! Not […] quite what we expected for the money. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Definently a nice experience."
After a week with 4 different hotels, this was amazing. Right from the receival in the reception during check-in to the attentive waiter in the restaurant. The service was amazing, the food was high quality with an eye for details and the surroundings was beautiful and comfortable. We will definitely recommend this hotel for the future. The price of […] our stay matched the level of the hotel, especially when compared with other hotels. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel interessante com comida péssima"
O hotel é bonito, bem localizado, mas o buffet do jantar além de ser caríssimo, a qualidade da comida é abaixo da critica.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"beautiful old style hotel"
Beautiful hotel, very comfortable, great service, great food. I had a suite in the old "Doctors House" which was very nice. I can very much suggest to tahe the buffet dinner there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Historische plek in Tiberias"
"Nice room; great buffet"
03/03/14 JamesHTexas Texas
Our pilgrimage group was extended a warm welcome upon arrival and we were quickly given all necessary information for our three night stay. Our room was large, spotless, and quiet; not fancy, but quite comfortable. The bathroom and dressing area were also of good size and clean. The real star at Scots Hotel is the food. Huge selections for breakfast featured various breads, fruit, meats, yogurts, omelets made to order, fresh squeezed orange juice, and coffee drinks made to order. In the evening, at least three entree selections such as lamb, fish, and prime rib with numerous sides and dessert selections were offered. Only the wine selection could use some improvement. It was easy to see why the Scots Hotel receives the #1 ranking in Tiberias. I hope they keep up the good work.

A nice hotel with a great tradition. Staff is very attentive. A Lakeview Room is a neccessity. Food is excellent. The rooms are adequate - internet is a cost. Pretty sure this is the top hotel in Tiberias.
"Indulge yourself with a stay!"

This place sits right on the Sea of Galilee and has incredible views! The rooms are very well appointed with comforts better than your home! There are several buildings on the property and the one we were in had a common area and very large balcony looking out to the sea! The rooms are large with beautiful sitting areas and lots of windows to enjoy the views. The bathrooms are marble with the best toiletries and comfy robes and slippers. The breakfast is the best in Israel with eggs to order and just about every other breakfast food imaginable. I only wish we had stayed longer! One night was not nearly enough! Make this your home base to see the areas of the north, so that you can take a bit of time to enjoy the property as well.
"A little Scoland in Israel"
02/10/14 lieblingster Roma, Australia
The hotel is modern but small ,built by the local black stone of the area and has an interesting story since buildings were buit more than 100 years ago mainly by the Scottish Church. Find more about the Hotel History once you come . Warm welcome, good food and quiet . Located 100 meters from the sea of Galliee the hotel known also as St.Andrew's Galliee is well worth a visit .
"My favorite hotel ever!"

When you find a place that perfectly fits your sensibilities, you resolve to come back. That's the test -- not that you could go there again or you might choose it but that you Must come back. That's The Scots Hotel in Tiberias, for me. This is where I want to spend winters. Scots is a beautifully re-designed hospital and maternity ward (you dine in the former operating room) converted to a luxury hotel above the Galilee, replete with pool, garden, various buildings, art, one small shop, and a great cook. The wine cellar was a genuine cellar, well done, though the list was being rebuilt when I attended. That it's thoughtfully located in the midst of Christian holy sites all about is a bonus. We came as a group of pilgrims but ancient pilgrimages were nothing like this. To say we pilgrims were astonished is an understatement. I don't know what it cost (So I can't speak of value.) our tour operator but thank you, thank you, thank you! Nor is the hotel old-fashioned. It sports a sophisticated and fast wireless system; full HVAC; a warm, efficient staff; and actual art (as opposed to modernist pretense). Tubs are big enough for my 6' 3" 250# frame to loll in comfortably and I fit under the showers. There are few signs of wear anywhere that I noticed. It does lack a printing and scanning station, so business can't really be conducted here, but that's the only missing item I could detect. Then again, this is a place away from home and business, isn't it? I can recommend this to anyone. Go and enjoy.
"Scots Hotel is wonderful"
01/31/14 Rod C Miramar Beach
We spent 4 nights at this hotel. It is unique and beautiful. The building is not a typical hotel building. It is a beautiful old building and yet is modern as far as the facilities are concerned. The staff is very attentive and really care about meeting your needs. The food is excellent and there is a variety to please every taste. There are 2 beautiful courtyards. There is a multilevel garden that faces east overlooking the Sea of Galilee, so the sunrises are spectacular! It is only a short walk to the shore where there are many shops, restaurants, etc. I highly recommend the Scots Hotel.
"LOVED this hotel"
01/23/14 DrSallyB San Jose, California
Warm welcome, stunning views of the Sea of Galilee, beautiful grounds, fabulous breakfasts. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I've ever experienced - truly loved their fresh orange juice. It's also one of the few places in Israel where you can have bacon at breakfast. We loved our four nights here. My only negative comment is that their selection of wines by the glass is very limited, although I found this to be true at almost all hotels in Israel. I wish they would showcase their wines more. I can't wait to return for another wonderful visit!
"Would have liked to stay more than 1 night"
01/16/14 St-Bruno123 Montreal. Qc., Canada
We arrived at the hotel after a long traveling day. Its architecture is unusual for Israel and is a reminder of its scottish builder. We were warmly greeted at the reception and our room was lovely, well decorated, clean and very quiet. Being tired we did not take adavantage of the buffet dinner and were served a light lunch in the Bar area. The choice is limited but well prepared. The breakfast is exceptional but for coffee service. Our young waitress was recuperating from a rough night and was not really interested to serve coffee when needed. The upkeep of the building, its groung and the swimming pool is first class. Definitely a place where you can enjoy a stay for more than one day.
"Grand hotel, smaller scale service."
01/11/14 NiceNYer New York, NY
I agree with other reviewers that there are gaps in service and value in this otherwise lovely hotel, perched atop a hill overlooking Lake Tiberias. We stayed, as a couple, in the highest end, “antique” room, number 607, facing the sea (aka the Kineret or Sea of Galilee). The room itself, high ceilinged and ample with warm, wintertime breezes blowing through it and with a huge, comfortable bed and marble bath, was the high point of our two-night stay, which included New Year’s Eve. Consistent with the prior reviewer, we were not warned in advance, either by email or on arrival, that the rate would be higher on Dec 31 presumably to accommodate the truly lavish dinner that accompanied the celebration. The rate was almost double that of our first night. And while the food was excellent, it was also over the top—far too much of it!—and did not compensate for the brusque service in other areas of the hotel, e.g., a tight-lipped bartender named Mark, or the nonchalant greeting on arrival. For example, when we asked if there were parking spaces beyond the few in front of the hotel, we were given no specifics and told, “don’t worry, you will always find parking in Scots Hotel.” Returning from a day trip we found all the spaces taken, encountered confusion about just where we could indeed park, during which time a space happened to open up in front. The mostly young staff could use better and more uniform training. High points include the breakfast buffet, which is on par with the best in Israel, a huge pool open in warmer months, an on-site herb garden and a spa, which we did not visit. (We recommend half board, which includes an excellent dinner buffet.) This is the best hotel in town, with a decidedly grand, non-commercial feel to it, perfect as a luxurious jumping-off point for hikes or religious tours around the north of Israel. But it falls prey to what seems to be typical of this otherwise friendly country, a tourist-industry wide brusqueness bordering on indifference to the client.
"Delightful Boutique Scots Hotel in Galilee"
01/09/14 AlexM618 Aberdeen
Delightful Scots Hotel at St. Andrew's in Galilee is bliss. The Scots hotel ranks one of the best hotels in Israel. The unassuming doors of the hotel, lead you to be greeted by a very warm reception room. It was Christmas time and the lobby, courtyard, and eating areas were lavishly decorated. As you leave the reception area, the doors open onto an outdoor court yard. The flavour of the 19th century converted hospital was preserved for us as the guests of passed years would have seen it. However, the lovely dining area overlooking the sea of Galilee, and the beautifully appointed rooms were modern with all the accruements that accompany a five star hotel. For all seasons, you will not be disappointed with your stay at the Scots.
