A delightful hotel for a relaxing getaway. The hotel was beautifully appointed and comfortable, the staff was superb in welcoming guests and treating them well, and the other guests were friendly and nice. We are thinking about returning in January for a winter coast getaway.

We felt very lucky to find the Old Wheeler Hotel. We had a family gathering at Cannon Beach and this was an easy drive to that location. Beautiful room and accommodations. The staff made us feel so welcome. Loved all the personal touches. We would definitely stay there again.

While I understand that a small operation cannot necessarily have my room ready early, there are many things that a hotel can do to help a traveler who wants to check in early (stow their bags, invite them to hang out in the common room until their room is ready, things like that) and we were just cheerfully refused. Bad start, tough to recover. The […] bed was absurdly soft and it took much of the next day before my back stopped aching. As for the location - it's not on the water, exactly, but a good 100 yards away. And the water isn't the ocean, or anything like the ocean. It's a pretty setting, but there is no sound of surf or anything. The Nehalem Bay is really more a river. Not that it's all negative - the hotel is cute, it's kitschy, it has antiques everywhere, and it has good showers. Read more

B & B like hotel, only 8 rooms, very quaint and friendly. Very clean and comfortable. Our room, #3 did not have a private bathroom attached to the room, rather our private bathroom was down the hall. Not that much of an inconvenience for us, as we are not shy, but if you need to use the rest room often in the middle of the night, it could be a problem. […] Look at the rooms available, it will tell you descriptions of each. The inn keepers were warm, friendly and helpful. They took the time to focus on our needs and responded to the challenges we gave them. The little town was a marvelous retreat from the day to day urban existence we have at home. The water activities were right across the street. The room was bright, clean and charming.

This is a fun relaxing place to stay. The hotel has a homey feel decorated with many interesting antique pieces. We had a beautiful bay view and private bath across the hall. That was OK, a lot like being at home. We wished we'd planned another night.

Absolutely loved the charm and exquisitely furnished old hotel. The owner, Katie, was lovely and more than attentive to all our needs.
