"Comfortable stay in an historic gem"
It was quite nice. Cozy. Nice folks running it. I really like the communal dining area. It created an almost bed-and-breakfast atmosphere. There was a lot more to do in the town of Wheeler than we realized. Good restaurants nearby (check out the Tsunami Bar & Grill)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old Character in a Small Town"
Most people might pass through Wheeler and entirely miss this wonderful little spot. It's really only about 20-25 minutes away from Cannon Beach and a quiet, little hotel that maintains the feel of an old hotel. The rooms are all unique and have character, and the furniture has the feel of being antiques. It has a lot of character and our hostesses were […] charming and accomodating. The views from the bay side are gorgeous. It's well worth a stay here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Really nice old fashioned hotel"
The owner and staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. Common dining area has real dishes instead of foam and plastic wear. Breakfast is a cut above the usual hotel "continental".. fresh yogurt, eggs, fruit, granola, etc. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Location is on the main 101, not noisy though. There are good views of the bay from the […] room or common area. The entire hotel is on the second floor, so you have to climb some stairs. First floor consists of antique shops and a cafe. The hotel provides free DVD's for rainy days and evenings. This is a very friendly place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"bed and breakfast experience"
We loved the Old Wheeler Hotel. We were celabrating our 40th anniversary. Beautiful river views from some rooms. Also bathroom is down the hall for some rooms but is not shared. It was our first visit to Oregon and wonderful. The breakfast was continental style but nicer than the chain hotel offerings.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Quaint, charming immaculate inn with friendly, efficient management.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

A delightful hotel for a relaxing getaway. The hotel was beautifully appointed and comfortable, the staff was superb in welcoming guests and treating them well, and the other guests were friendly and nice. We are thinking about returning in January for a winter coast getaway.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Loved this Bed and Breakfast"
We felt very lucky to find the Old Wheeler Hotel. We had a family gathering at Cannon Beach and this was an easy drive to that location. Beautiful room and accommodations. "Perfect hotel for romantic holiday"
A very charming, reasonably priced art deco hotel in a great location away from the more touristy parts of the coast: a great base for day trips. The staff were friendly and helpful. Being old and near the water, the room had a bit of a musty odor, but using the ac helped. Room 6 has a private bath down the hall, not very inconvenient. In all, a great […] place to stay. "Charm and Class"
If you like old Hotels this place is great. we would not only put this on our top listings, but will suggest the place to our travelling friends.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This little gem is charming. Attention to detail is unlike any I've experienced from the decor, period elevator, on down to the welcome cards by your room door. My only complaint is that I didn't have a bathroom in my room. My bathroom was private, but down the hall, and the XL bathrobe was nice to use during te night. Whoever owns/operates this property […] truly loves what they do. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"An imperfect hotel for an imperfect world"
While I understand that a small operation cannot necessarily have my room ready early, there are many things that a hotel can do to help a traveler who wants to check in early (stow their bags, invite them to hang out in the common room until their room is ready, things like that) and we were just cheerfully refused. Bad start, tough to recover. The […] bed was absurdly soft and it took much of the next day before my back stopped aching. As for the location - it's not on the water, exactly, but a good 100 yards away. And the water isn't the ocean, or anything like the ocean. It's a pretty setting, but there is no sound of surf or anything. The Nehalem Bay is really more a river. Not that it's all negative - the hotel is cute, it's kitschy, it has antiques everywhere, and it has good showers. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Quaint hotel in tiny town"
B & B like hotel, only 8 rooms, very quaint and friendly. Very clean and comfortable. Our room, #3 did not have a private bathroom attached to the room, rather our private bathroom was down the hall. Not that much of an inconvenience for us, as we are not shy, but if you need to use the rest room often in the middle of the night, it could be a problem. […] Look at the rooms available, it will tell you descriptions of each. Loved the atmosphere and amenities with this place. I would recommend it over any of the big chains. The town is tiny, but very friendly and we had fun antique shopping. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old Wheeler hotel"
Except for checkin and 10pm curfew, this was the best. Everything was picture perfect. The location ( we looked out over the bay) was outstanding, there was a quilt shop next door BONUS, and the decor was very antique and charming. When I made the reservations there was no mention of the bathroom being down the hall, but it worked out fine. We did not […] haveto share it and were provided robes for trips on the night. I liked the location and the friendliness of the staff. The breakfast was average. I didn't like the fact we had to go across the hall for our bathroom, though robes were supplied. View from our room was fabulous though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

It was a delightful and unique experience staying at this Hotel which is tastefully furnished, befitting it`s Historical Era. Absolutely loved the charm and exquisitely furnished old hotel. The owner, Katie, was lovely and more than attentive to all our needs. "Quiet reflection in a comfortable setting"
04/15/14 Lorri D Wheeler, Oregon
Do not miss a stay at the Old Wheeler Hotel if you want quiet reflection in a comfortable setting. It is a step back in time. With the comforts of the times such as wifi. And the views from the bay view rooms are incredible. They look out over Nehalem River and the bay. You can watch the boats on the river, go kayaking, fishing, crabbing...or just watch. They have an incredible continental breakfast with fresh fruit, eggs, cheese, and yogurts. Other things too, but too much to mention. Hotel staff will treat you with personal service unlike other hotels. It isn't just a stay at a hotel. It is an experience.

Me and my boyfriend went to stay at the old wheeler hotel for a weekend. It was pure heaven. The bed was so nice and comfy And the staff were nice and very knowledgeable about the area. I diffidently recommend staying here with your loved one or by yourself. The only down part i found was i wished my bathroom was in my room instead of down the hall.
"Old World Charm Meets 21st Century"

If you're looking for a quiet, unique place to get away from it all....then The Old Wheeler Hotel is the destination you've been dreaming of. Located in the small town of Wheeler, OR you will find an upscale, quaint piece of history nestled between the sandy beaches of the Oregon coast and Manzanita. You can kick back and relax, take in the breathtaking views, shop to your hearts content, dine at wonderful restaurants or take a walk on the numerous beaches close by. The hotel offers updated amenities such as Television, DVD players, gas fireplaces and jacuzzi baths to name a few, all the while feeling like you've stepped back in time to the good 'ol days when simplicity was at it's best. Price very moderately, they offer a great continental breakfast each morning and all the extras you may need for your stay; community fridge, wine glasses, popcorn just to name a few. It's like your home away from home!!! Enjoy!
"The Old Wheeler is Wonderful!"
04/12/14 Brandi K Portland, Oregon
This place is small, cozy, quiet, and beautiful. The people were friendly and the breakfast tasty. I especially enjoyed the jetted tub in our room. We definitely plan on going back and staying again. I have been telling everyone about this hidden gem.
"Everything you could want!"
04/11/14 Cathie S Portland, Oregon, United States
I love the Old Wheeler Hotel. There are so many positive things to say, let's start with the hotel itself. All the rooms are comfortable, and have everything you need. Not the normal coastal "cutesie" with polyester and bedding and seagull themed rooms. NO no no. Cotton, and comfort. Tastefully, and personally done by the owners. There is a shared space with a guest refrigerator, toaster, microwave, books, games, and hot water, etc. with a selection of necessities (wine opener...). Nothing fancy, yet I feel very well taken care of here, and want for nothing. Homey, clean, artistic, and sweet. AND the beautiful bay view! Close to Manzanita with everything else a person might want. Wheeler, great local stores, with the largest antique mall on the Oregon Coast. Trillium, a beautiful artisan shop that is ever changing with wonderfully hand made works of art for your home or your person. AND the beautiful bay, that you can rent canoes or kayaks for the day. I love this place and almost hate to tell others about it! But it deserves a second look as you whiz by on your way to someplace else. This is where it's at!
"Without a doubt, worth the drive!"
04/11/14 Aaron B Black Diamond, Washington
Charming, well-maintained hotel. Right from the first moment when you walk in and are presented with a turn of the century lobby and an old bellhops uniform you will know that you picked the proper place for your weekend getaway. The hotel rooms are above cute little shops on the first floor. Each room is unique with its own layout and decor. Several dozen movies and books are available to pick up and take back to your room in the upstairs common area. The host knows great places to eat and visit in the area; all the recommendations were excellent. It was a wonderful trip, looking forward to doing it again!
"Charming stay in Wheeler"
04/11/14 KathleenCC Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States
We loved the Old Wheeler House. The staf was welcoming and helpful and our room charming, clean and comfortable. The one disappointment was the breakfast. It is continental and convenient, particularly in the off season, but not a particularly healthy offering to start the day.
"One of the undiscovered treasures of the Oregon Coast."
04/11/14 DJR1911 Pasco, Washington
My wife and I get to the Oregon Coast only once or twice each year and when we do it usually includes a stay at the Wheeler. We always come away relaxed and rejuvenated. This last time we climbed nearby Neahkanie Mountain which has been on our to do list for years. The staff at the Wheeler are the best. David & Myra
"Old Wheeler Hotel GETAWAY"
04/10/14 Carol H Rochester, Washington
We went looking for a relaxing weekend getaway and we certainly found just that at the Old Wheeler Hotel. The owner and her staff were so friendly and helpful, but still behind the scenes so as not to be intrusive. The decor is vintage, with antiques and furnishings we grew up with and still enjoy. We were able to walk to two large antique malls for shopping, get a latte at the corner coffee shop, and dine both in town and in nearby cities along Hwy 101. The weather varied from blue skies on Friday to 70 mph winds and a downpour Saturday night, all quiet enjoyable. The Common Room enticed us with it's great continental breakfast, fabulous views of Nephalum Bay and ocean, comfy seating for reading, playing cards, and completing a jigsaw puzzle. Our weekend special through Amazon also included a great wine tasting at a local winery. It was the best stay we have ever had, and we definitely plan to return in the future.
"Romantic and relaxing"

My husband and I spent our second two day stay at the Old Wheeler Hotel at the end of March. We loved being welcomed with our own sign outside the door! The continental breakfast is wonderful, the rooms are lovely, clean and charming and everyone there is so welcoming! We'll be back soon! Lovely, relaxing and romantic! A priceless find...
