"Nice relaxing little place to stay."
Nice little place to stay. We stayed in Rm 6 and was told by hotel no bathroom in room when we made reservation. There was a bathroom (just for Rm 6) down the hall. Saved a bit of money on this room because of this. Would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Get Away and Get Romantic!"
Love the town of Wheeler. The hotel is quaint and love the atmosphere! Very romantic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This surpassed our expectations. We're too far away or would make this a frequent destination!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quiet, Low Key Hotel"
This is a great hotel to get away from it all. Comfortable bed, nice view, charming breakfast area, good DVD selections, and very friendly staff. My cell and no reception in Wheeler, so having Wi-Fi available was very helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel owner did a nice job furnishing it with antiques. Hang out in the lounge with some fascinating fellow travelers and bring some wine and tillamock cheese to share!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
First, I love this place and would recommend it. I love all of the old style and original antique everything about the place. The only downfall is that antique things don't always work like new things. Nothing bad just a couple of things like the AC in the room and the front door lock, how to use them. Otherwise I absolutely love this place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Just wonderful. Very nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room we had number 6 was so small and the worst the bathroom is down the hall!!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable stay in an historic gem"
It was quite nice. Cozy. Nice folks running it. I really like the communal dining area. It created an almost bed-and-breakfast atmosphere. There was a lot more to do in the town of Wheeler than we realized. Good restaurants nearby (check out the Tsunami Bar & Grill)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old Character in a Small Town"
Most people might pass through Wheeler and entirely miss this wonderful little spot. It's really only about 20-25 minutes away from Cannon Beach and a quiet, little hotel that maintains the feel of an old hotel. The rooms are all unique and have character, and the furniture has the feel of being antiques. It has a lot of character and our hostesses were […] charming and accomodating. The views from the bay side are gorgeous. It's well worth a stay here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Really nice old fashioned hotel"
The owner and staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. Common dining area has real dishes instead of foam and plastic wear. Breakfast is a cut above the usual hotel "continental".. fresh yogurt, eggs, fruit, granola, etc. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Location is on the main 101, not noisy though. There are good views of the bay from the […] room or common area. The entire hotel is on the second floor, so you have to climb some stairs. First floor consists of antique shops and a cafe. The hotel provides free DVD's for rainy days and evenings. This is a very friendly place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"bed and breakfast experience"
We loved the Old Wheeler Hotel. We were celabrating our 40th anniversary. Beautiful river views from some rooms. Also bathroom is down the hall for some rooms but is not shared. It was our first visit to Oregon and wonderful. The breakfast was continental style but nicer than the chain hotel offerings.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Quaint, charming immaculate inn with friendly, efficient management.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the proprietor pays attention to the smallest of details - she was fabulous! our experience was as wonderful as some of the hotels we have stayed in overseas at a fraction of the cost.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

A delightful hotel for a relaxing getaway. The hotel was beautifully appointed and comfortable, the staff was superb in welcoming guests and treating them well, and the other guests were friendly and nice. "Loved this Bed and Breakfast"
We felt very lucky to find the Old Wheeler Hotel. We had a family gathering at Cannon Beach and this was an easy drive to that location. Beautiful room and accommodations. "Perfect hotel for romantic holiday"
A very charming, reasonably priced art deco hotel in a great location away from the more touristy parts of the coast: a great base for day trips. The staff were friendly and helpful. Being old and near the water, the room had a bit of a musty odor, but using the ac helped. Room 6 has a private bath down the hall, not very inconvenient. In all, a great […] place to stay. "Charm and Class"
If you like old Hotels this place is great. we would not only put this on our top listings, but will suggest the place to our travelling friends.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This little gem is charming. Attention to detail is unlike any I've experienced from the decor, period elevator, on down to the welcome cards by your room door. My only complaint is that I didn't have a bathroom in my room. My bathroom was private, but down the hall, and the XL bathrobe was nice to use during te night. "An imperfect hotel for an imperfect world"
While I understand that a small operation cannot necessarily have my room ready early, there are many things that a hotel can do to help a traveler who wants to check in early (stow their bags, invite them to hang out in the common room until their room is ready, things like that) and we were just cheerfully refused. Bad start, tough to recover. The […] bed was absurdly soft and it took much of the next day before my back stopped aching. As for the location - it's not on the water, exactly, but a good 100 yards away. And the water isn't the ocean, or anything like the ocean. It's a pretty setting, but there is no sound of surf or anything. The Nehalem Bay is really more a river. Not that it's all negative - the hotel is cute, it's kitschy, it has antiques everywhere, and it has good showers. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I loved this place! So charming and elegant. Definitely a breath of fresh air away from the city and hustle and bustle. Will definitely be back again!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I liked the location and the friendliness of the staff. The breakfast was average. I didn't like the fact we had to go across the hall for our bathroom, though robes were supplied. View from our room was fabulous though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Absolutely loved the charm and exquisitely furnished old hotel. The owner, Katie, was lovely and more than attentive to all our needs. Een hotel geheel in engelse sfeer. Ontzettend aardig personeel. "Best hotel we've ever stayed at!!"
11/20/14 Rachelmariecordas Oregon Coast, Oregon
When I click 5 out of 5 on this review I don't take it lightly. This hotel felt like my life was a movie when I stayed here because of the top notch quality of the hotel experience from start to finish. Charming, ornately beautiful and quaintly accommodated the Old Wheeler Hotel was the perfect overall stay. Mid November meant a quiet town but having the place to ourselves was a delightful surprise. Friendly conversation with the front desk attendant, the great view and of course the jacuzzi bath tub in the room was exactly what we needed. Thanks O.W.H.!

Booked today for a stay today. Arrived early and the room was not yet ready which I expected. The man pointed to our room then down the hall to the bathroom in the hall. We were expecting a private bathroom. He offered us a private room/bath only if we would pay the upgrade fee which was more than $50. We already paid $120 for the b&b room so the upgrade fee seemed unreasonable. If you are considering staying here do not book with Expedia/direct until you see the room first to make sure it is what you expect it to be. While others may be happy here, we were not. We left without staying and received no refund as it was nonrefundable.
"Simply The Best!"
11/02/14 sueschubert Portland, Oregon
From the moment that my husband and I attempted to make a reservation (they were all booked up when we called) to the time that the owner remember to, and did, call us to say she had a one-night opening on a weekend, we felt we had won the lottery! The Old Wheeler is traditional, well-preserved, welcoming, spic and span clean, and "dressed" appropriately in antiques. The host the day we arrived was, and is, just wonderful. He explained the routine to us and we were off on our trip's purpose, a birthday party. The next morning, breakfast was simple, adequate, well-presented and delicious. We never ask for more, but seldom do we receive so much. Thank you, Old Wheeler Hotel.
"Wonderful small hotel"
10/25/14 Fran T Grants Pass, Oregon
We stayed at the Old Wheeler Hotel the night that we rode the Oregon Scenic Coast Railroad on their dinner train. The hotel was comfortable and quiet, and our room had a terrific view of Nehalem Bay, with the sea beyond. This hotel has all modern conveniences packaged in an old-fashioned small elegant hotel. Although our room overlooked the street below, there was no noise; nor did we hear any noise from within the hotel. Since my husband is partially disabled, the elevator came in handy. Wheeler itself is a cool little town and I hope we can go back to explore it some more, and stay again in the Old Wheeler Hotel.
"A step down memory lane"
10/13/14 Deborah P Damascus, Oregon
We have made several return trips to the Old Wheeler Hotel since discovering it several years ago. The hotel is filled with nostalgia. Each room is exquisitly decorated in its own distinct style. You can tour the hotel and see all available rooms, making the hotel a delight to explore. We admire the antiques that fill the hotel, some of which are quite nostalgic and others curiosities. The hotel has a cozy sitting room with piano and fireplace which has hosted small weddings. A wonderful breakfast bar is provided. Beautiful china and glassware make it a pleasure to dine while enjoying the view. The day room/breakfast room has large windows for viewing wildlife at nearby Nehalem Bay State Park. Binoculars are provided. A sizeable herd of elk frequent the area. Across the street, situated in a small park is the Wheeler train depot. The excursion train runs several miles along Nehalem Bay south to Garibldi, with plenty to see. Behind the depot is the boat dock and boat rentals. Look out across the bay and enjoy the view! Plenty to see from the second floor windows and very quiet. And old fashioned elevator will take you upstairs to the hotel or take the stairs. Arriving on second floor is a step back in time. We like to visit for a good rest and some pampering. Always a pleasure!
"loved the view of Salmon leaping from the window"
10/11/14 hantshawk Winchester, United Kingdom
We stayed two nights on our way south from Seattle. The welcome and information given was excellent and friendly, there is also a small lift which is very helpful especially when you first open the door to be greeted by a large set of stairs. Our room was nicely decorated and the double glazing worked well ,no noise even though we were right on the 101.The view across the river is lovely and we enjoyed watching the salmon leaping and the fisher men trying to catch them. I think a more proactive view on making up the room is better than --we respect your privacy and if you want your room made up please ask---i think it should be carried out automatically .I know some people will have different views but that's mine,Breakfast was fine as was the ability to make tea or coffee at any time. All in all a pleasant place to stay.
"Elegant and comfortable"
10/05/14 RoseCityfriend Portland OR
This hotel is a lovely place with hardwood floors and antiques. Pretty river views from the breakfast/living room and from many of the bedrooms. Very helpful, friendly manager! You definitely feel welcome. Comfortable beds. It's a little pricey, but we've stayed for special occasions (e.g. birthday weekend) and found it worth it. Very original, unique decor -- nothing cookie-cutter about this place! The website is very accurate. The breakfast/living room has puzzles and games and big comfy chairs to read in, and binoculars to look out the window at the river with. The self-serve breakfast is simple but fine (e.g. coffee & tea, hard boiled eggs, bread, instant oatmeal, fruit, yogurt). I enjoy eating on the pretty china at the antique wood tables. We usually eat something early to take the edge off our appetite and later head downstairs for lattes and scones at the little cafe in the corner of the building. For Sunday brunch or a delicious dinner, we head walk down the block to the Rising Star Cafe (simply excellent food!). Wheeler is a small town with gorgeous nature views and fun antique stores to wander through. Manzanita is a short drive away with a long scenic beach. We love to come to this area to relax, and the Old Wheeler Hotel is definitely a relaxing yet elegant hotel that makes the trip seem special.

Was a little worried about noise but the windows are double panel and it was very quiet... The owner is very friendly and helpful and the hotel is adorable! There is even a comfort room with a piano... We had a great view of the river from our room and we're very pleased with our stay.
"Just like visiting Grandma's house"
09/08/14 littlelulu70 Ridgefield, Washington
Last minute plans to "get away" and spend a night on the coast turned out to be perfect. The Old Wheeler Hotel was recommended by friends who frequent the hotel and we were really pleased. The staff extends a welcome tour of the facility to guests and were extremely kind and helpful. We stayed in number 2, had a beautiful view of the bay and the evening sunset. Room was very comfortable and clean. Will definitely be returning.
"Amazing answer to prayer"
09/04/14 Trish P Kaukauna, Wisconsin
My daughter and I were touring the coast of Oregon. It was late and we were tired after traveling in the pitch black on 101. We prayed for a safe haven for the night . We called The old wheeler and Kate was delighted to welcome us in. The inn is charming, the rooms spotless, and the view spectacular. She is a devoted hostess who loves to share her beautifully restored inn with guests. I highly recommend the old wheeler if you need a place to stay along the Oregon coast!
