"Lovely B&B experience"
The Old Wheeler Hotel is an excellent B&B. We loved our one-night stay on our way down the 101 and loved the quiet and quaint town of Wheeler. The staff at Old Wheeler Hotel was excellent, friendly, and accomodating. The building is on the older side; however, the room was very clean and the bathroom impressive in size and furnishings. If you're looking for a quaint B&B, and don't need a massive sized room, than I think you'll be pleased with the Old Wheeler Hotel.

"Historic and Hospitable"
We stayed at Old Wheeler Hotel for two nights recently (June 2015). It is just like the picture in the ad. The flowers across the front were amazing. I loved the turn of the century decor. The owner and her daughter were great hosts. Having an amazing quilt shop downstairs was a real bonus for me.

"Perfect Week end gettaway"
The owner/manager was on it. She call to verify and inquire about what time she could expect us. She greeted us and made every effort to make us feel at home. She gave us a tour and personal review of the rules if there were any. The room was more than expected. Very comfortable setting quiet and peaceful. Healthy breakfast in the morning and everything you need to make the stay an enjoyable one. Great view and spectacular sunsets.

"Quaint Hotel Right on Nehalem Bay"
My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. We found the town to be a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The dock is a great place to watch for wildlife, especially on a clear day. The park and train station are charming and the residents are welcoming. If you enjoy sweets, the bakeries/cafes have excellent pastries. :-)

Our host was very accommodating and very nice. We arrived right at 8 o'clock, the limit for check-in, but we still got a nice tour and he made sure we had ice for the evening. Our room was very charming and comfortable. We will definitely stay again, and reccomend it highly.

"Nice relaxing little place to stay."
Nice little place to stay. We stayed in Rm 6 and was told by hotel no bathroom in room when we made reservation. There was a bathroom (just for Rm 6) down the hall. Saved a bit of money on this room because of this. Would stay here again.

First, I love this place and would recommend it. I love all of the old style and original antique everything about the place. The only downfall is that antique things don't always work like new things. Nothing bad just a couple of things like the AC in the room and the front door lock, how to use them. Otherwise I absolutely love this place.

"Comfortable stay in an historic gem"
It was quite nice. Cozy. Nice folks running it. I really like the communal dining area. It created an almost bed-and-breakfast atmosphere. There was a lot more to do in the town of Wheeler than we realized. Good restaurants nearby (check out the Tsunami Bar & Grill)

"Old Character in a Small Town"
Most people might pass through Wheeler and entirely miss this wonderful little spot. It's really only about 20-25 minutes away from Cannon Beach and a quiet, little hotel that maintains the feel of an old hotel. The rooms are all unique and have character, and the furniture has the feel of being antiques. It has a lot of character and our hostesses were charming and accomodating. The views from the bay side are gorgeous. It's well worth a stay here.

"Really nice old fashioned hotel"
The owner and staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. Common dining area has real dishes instead of foam and plastic wear. Breakfast is a cut above the usual hotel "continental".. fresh yogurt, eggs, fruit, granola, etc. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Location is on the main 101, not noisy though. There are good views of the bay from the room or common area. The entire hotel is on the second floor, so you have to climb some stairs. First floor consists of antique shops and a cafe. The hotel provides free DVD's for rainy days and evenings. This is a very friendly place to stay.

We loved the Old Wheeler Hotel. We were celabrating our 40th anniversary. Beautiful river views from some rooms. Also bathroom is down the hall for some rooms but is not shared. It was our first visit to Oregon and wonderful. The breakfast was continental style but nicer than the chain hotel offerings.

"Perfect hotel for romantic holiday"
A very charming, reasonably priced art deco hotel in a great location away from the more touristy parts of the coast: a great base for day trips. The staff were friendly and helpful. Being old and near the water, the room had a bit of a musty odor, but using the ac helped. Room 6 has a private bath down the hall, not very inconvenient. In all, a great place to stay.

"A Little Gem"
It was a delightful and unique experience staying at this Hotel which is tastefully furnished, befitting it`s Historical Era. Each individual bedroom is slightly different ,with beautiful linens and attention to detail, some with a view over the bay. With it`s lovely sitting room and separate breakfast room, It was like taking a step back in time. The manager was friendly and very helpful. The community had an air of pride, and the small restaurant where we had supper was simple, clean and first class food.We would definitely stay again, and recommend it to friends.

"Charming antique bed and breakfast"
Absolutely loved the charm and exquisitely furnished old hotel. The owner, Katie, was lovely and more than attentive to all our needs. There were so many beautiful pieces of antique furniture in the room and in the whole hotel. No complaints at all with anything. In our room was a journal that people had written in while they stayed which I really enjoyed reading. Wheeler is no more than a stop on the coastal highway but the Old Wheeler Hotel makes the town memorable.

"geweldig"
Een hotel geheel in engelse sfeer. Ontzettend aardig personeel.

Quaint historic building with beautiful vintage decor and atmosphere. Very clean, quiet, and comfortable. Excellent staff with great attention to detail. Fresh seasonal fruits, cheese and pastries for breakfast. Just steps from excellent restaurants with local fare. Two large antique shops and numerous small decor and jewelry stores make this a great place to rest after a full day of shopping. Evening views of the sunsets over the bay are just fabulous. Definitely a place we will return to.this charming destination.

The rooms are beautiful, the whole hotel has ambiance. There are nearby restaurants, activities and the owner is wonderful! Highly recommended! We went kayaking, were mere minutes away from beautiful beaches and breathtaking views. Antiques and cafes in the same block, with a stop for the Tillamook railroad right outside the door. Jump on and see the scenic Oregon Coast from a beautiful train.

You can often tell when someone loves and believes in what they do by the results of their efforts, and this appears to be true with Katie and The Old Wheeler Hotel, who she lovingly refers to as "She". Total charm and comfort from coming in off the streets to saying goodbye, just so sweet. The breakfast/gathering room was a nice place to relax with a glass of wine and read or visit, and in the morning we watched elk as we ate fresh berries and had coffee. A plus for us was no children. Love your kiddos, but not in this setting, they would be happier in a place with room to frolic. This would be a great girlfriend getaway, or to celebrate sister's birthdays ( the reason for out trip). We took Katie's suggestion for dinner @ the Rising Tide next door, $10 pasta night (featured in Sunset). Absolutely wonderful and the staff made you feel as if they had waited all week to serve to serve you, very welcoming and friendly. The Tsunami bar and restaurant across the street is great! Nice to have a glass of craft beer or wine and some delicious Asian cuisine while watching a sporting event or the sunset. Nice break from benign beer and chicken gizzards. There are a couple of great antique shops with great staff. I would recommend going on a Wednesday and Thursday before the high season crowds come and stay at the Old Wheeler. Take your time to explore between Garibaldi and Manzanita. Just a very friendly community in a spectacular setting.

"Great Place to stay on the northern Oregon coast."
03/03/15 Rbaird_12 Wilsonville, Oregon, United States
Our group of three couples (old friends)stayed at the Old Wheeler Hotel recently and had a wonderful stay. This historic hotel is on great gem on the Nehalem Bay. The rooms are appointed in antique furniture, wonderful beds, great views, good bathrooms, bathrobes, flat screen TV's, with the feel of the early 1900's withy the exception of the tv). There are two parlor rooms for gathering and visitation, where we enjoyed our cocktail hour and breakfast. The place was very quiet all evening and we slept very well. I would recommend this hotel for a great experience and a step into the past. There is a lot of history going on in that hotel (and maybe a ghost or two). The staff is very helpful with eating places and things to see and available for help in finding things to see and do in the area.

"A Charming Retreat!"
02/19/15 Whiteflash7 Silverdale, WA
I had been searching for a quiet and comfortable place to stay for a writing retreat for some time and was so delighted that I chose the Old Wheeler Hotel! The time that I spent here was so productive and enjoyable that I cannot recommend it enough. The hotel can be characterized as charming, rich in the history and character that exceeded my expectations of an almost 100 year old establishment! The hotel is so well maintained and the owner and staff so hospitable that simply made me feel "at home" more than my own home does! I stayed in Room one during off-season. The king-sized bed was very comfortable and the room was so wonderfully quiet. That room also featured an amazing view and its own on-suite. If I were to say anything about the room that might need improvement it would be to have a larger TV. But since I didn't watch it I personally have no opinion or concern for its size. I simply adore this hotel and look forward to staying here again!

When I click 5 out of 5 on this review I don't take it lightly. This hotel felt like my life was a movie when I stayed here because of the top notch quality of the hotel experience from start to finish. Charming, ornately beautiful and quaintly accommodated the Old Wheeler Hotel was the perfect overall stay. Mid November meant a quiet town but having the place to ourselves was a delightful surprise. Friendly conversation with the front desk attendant, the great view and of course the jacuzzi bath tub in the room was exactly what we needed. Thanks O.W.H.!

Booked today for a stay today. Arrived early and the room was not yet ready which I expected. The man pointed to our room then down the hall to the bathroom in the hall. We were expecting a private bathroom. He offered us a private room/bath only if we would pay the upgrade fee which was more than $50. We already paid $120 for the b&b room so the upgrade fee seemed unreasonable. If you are considering staying here do not book with Expedia/direct until you see the room first to make sure it is what you expect it to be. While others may be happy here, we were not. We left without staying and received no refund as it was nonrefundable.

From the moment that my husband and I attempted to make a reservation (they were all booked up when we called) to the time that the owner remember to, and did, call us to say she had a one-night opening on a weekend, we felt we had won the lottery! The Old Wheeler is traditional, well-preserved, welcoming, spic and span clean, and "dressed" appropriately in antiques. The host the day we arrived was, and is, just wonderful. He explained the routine to us and we were off on our trip's purpose, a birthday party. The next morning, breakfast was simple, adequate, well-presented and delicious. We never ask for more, but seldom do we receive so much. Thank you, Old Wheeler Hotel.
