The hotel is approx 30 minutes from London Liverpool Street station. A nice hotel. Add costs of train tickets (16 pounds round trip) + taxis (8 pounds each way + tips). There is no restaurants near the hotel. Friendly staff, clean rooms, nice campus.

Beautiful location & historic house. There's a need for it to be refurnished, looking tired and dated. The most shocking thing is that my wife opened a side draw and there was used condoms left there!!. No doubt and oversight by the cleaner and the management were apologetic and helpful with the matter. But not what you expect. Overall stay was good. Evening meal of pie and seasonal vegetable was good quality although portions were small, however, served on a wooden board? Why? Not good for peas or gravy. Local M25 road works affected access/travel time to local train station.

Can't really fault the venue other than in the morning, I could hear doors being banged and what seemed to be heavy equipment being moved. That said, I was above the Gym. Apart from that, a very nice venue in very nice surroundings and I would stay again.

I generally spend 2/3 nights per week in hotels and have done for over 25 years and this was the very worst experienceI have ever had. The marketing for the hotel shows a beautiful old building, however, the majority of the rooms are in an extension but the room I was allocated was a good five minute walk further away. On the surface a fantastic hotel. Lovely converted and extended manor house, lovely quiet grounds, friendly staff, good choice of restaurant and bar menu, well presented, tasty and reasonably priced. However under the surface it could be better, the decoration is tired and nothing some paint and polyfilla wont fix, the beds saggy and uncomfortable. […] i was in the new section and could hear every noise in the next room including turning on the lights so didnt make for a good nights sleep. wifi albeit free was slower than 3G. Initial thoughts when I booked the room for £39 that it was a real bargain for a De Vere hotel. The room was clean and comfortable but I was surprised that the LCD TV was so small. The bar prices are a bit steep; I used to paying OTT for drinks in a hotel but £4.30 for a pint of orange juice and lemonade did seem a bit excessive. Breakfast selection […] was good as it was buffet style with choice of cooked items or continental. Whilst I was unsure about this hotel due to the "corporate" reviews we were very happy - My partner was on crutches and we request a down stairs room which they couldn't do but put us on the first floor near a lift so we were very pleased - we didn't eat in the restaurant but we did take advantage of the late check out - would certainly use again

Stayed in the Mansion house - no lifts, stayed on second floor and had to struggle with suitcase, suit and laptop bag up stairs and across hall ways with lots of doors and more steps! The carpets etc of the Mansion Building need updating or a good deep-clean, but overall good service and the presence of lots of coffee corners is an excellent feature. However, they should not be charging for credit card payments or at least inform clients about this before the payment is progressed.

The Hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The room we had was nice and big, the bathroom was basic and for a 4 star, there were no little extra's you would excpet to see. The Hotel feels like a wedding factory with all the brides and parties going on.

Room received was in top floor, attic floor. extremely hot rooms, no airconditioning, only a small fan provided. windows dont open completely, there's a security chain lock that impedes a better air intake -might be handy for winter, but it's unbearable for summer. When asked staff to switch rooms, they were not helpful at all. Promised to remove lock […] and bring another fan, but it wasn't done. Also, the walls are made of paper, can hear everything from your neighboring rooms (and vice versa, so you can't enjoy your stay properly with your partner without being knocked on door at midnight by stupid bored neighbors). The building is beautiful, in the middle of an amazing park, close to the M25 and A10 to go into London, and close enough to get to Stansted airport in only 20 mins, Cambridge 1hr away on A10, etc. Overall a good hotel for the price, if it wasn't for those minor inconveniences it would be perfect. booked a last minute room for a wedding, nice hotel, very clean and comfy room. Job to find the room as so many corridors its like a maze! Reception had no record of the booking and were a bit snooty but have had a lot worse. Lovely setting but you can hear the motorway noise.Would stay again.

We used this hotel as a base for a visit to Alexander Palace. Crews Hill station is 3 miles away from the hotel, and the journey to Alexander Palace took only 15 minutes. Good location for travel into London on the A10 and along the M25. Staff at the hotel were very helpful. A typical mid level corporate hotel. Overall rather shabby however the restaurant was surprisingly good. Free coffee bar, together with little snacks at different times of the day, was an added bonus.

For the rate, this hotel was reasonably good. My room was in the old mansion house which had character but was a bit cold on a winter's night. TV quality wasn't great and the bathroom was rather tired. The bath/shower mixer had broken and it took some ingenuity to get it working. Staff friendly. Room good. Two major drawbacks.... Room right next to a corridor with a fire door that was in constant use and banged shut. Very little sleep. Check out was 10.30 which is very early but you could pay an extra £10 to stay until 1.00!!!!!

very nice hotel. friendly staff. hotel is in 3 parts. old part has biggest rooms. new part is ok. stable block out the back is very nice if weather is good as it has own courtyard. bar food is so-so and expensive. complimentary coffee, biccies & fruit available in the bar. i frequently use when special offers are on. very good value.

Really nice location for this renovated country house and the grounds form a great feature. The hotel is pretty extensive - there was a wedding in the main house when we stayed, but we didn't hear it from our room in the other wing. We had a seperate restaurant and bar facility, and we got a free fireworks display from them! Worst feature: Small-ish […] bed, more of a large single than a good double. Decent size room though, but it looks like it is optimised for individual business stays rather than couples. Can't comment for the rooms in the other wing though (main house). Best feature: Dinner was very good - much superior to hotel 'chain-standard' food. A chef had obviously invested some care. Overall, we'd stay here again. Read more
