For the price, this was not a bad choice. The furniture was a bit dated and the TV on the small side, but the location was great, the breakfast was quite good too. Overall we were fairly satisfied with the room, especially considering the price we paid.

The Brittania is not as pictured in the photos. This is a very tired hotel. Our room was very small and the bathroom was moldy and awful. When we asked for a different room, the showed us to another that had a slept in, unmade bed and the upholstery on the furniture was torn and ripped. We decided to stay somewhere else and didn't even stay one night […] (we were supposed to be there four nights). The manager wouldn't refund our money. The hotel is very convenient to all attractions Bournemouth has to offer. You can park your car at the hotel and then forget about it - eliminating parking fees. The staff are friendly. Stayed here just for a weekend and used by Hotels.com free night stay. I guess because I wasn't really paying for the room they decided to put me in the dungeon. My room was on the ground floor and had no window to the outside world. It was awful. Plus when I booked, on the hotels.com website it said breakfast was included however when I arrived it […] wasn't. Hotels.com should sort this out as another guest also had this happen to him. The bathroom looked brand new. It was gorgeous. The room and rest of the hotel needed some updating. It was old, and the carpets are pretty warn. The wifi was non-existent except in the lobby. Breakfast brilliant and loads of it (buffet) - the room was very small for a double (more like a staff room) with a shower but it was very clean. We wouldnt stay for longer than one night as the bed was so hard and we had a sleepless night but for tje Bargain price of under £30 for the two of us including breakfast you cant do any better anywhere else […] for a quick stopover. We would look for the same again though for one night. Very close to the cliff top for a walk with a lift to the beach, not too far for the shops.. Friendly service. The staff are reasonably friendly, iv stayed here bfore so I knew the lay of the land which was a good thing as the staff didn't appear to give much direction at breakfast time. The best thing about this hotel is the location. Breakfast was ok. Couldn't believe that we were asked to pay £4 each to use the pool (every time you use it, not a one off charge for the duration of your stay), which is housed in a separate building. I'd describe the bedroom and bathroom as compact. The view from our bedroom window was the side of a huge white van parked immediately outside the window a few inches away for the whole weekend. The hotel is in a good position for the beach and town centre (about 15 minutes on foot). The building is showing signs of wear. I'll start on the easy bits - the plus points. Its a great location and was relatively cheap. Now the negatives. The car park was full - it is far too small but I found parking nearby. This would be much harder to do in peak season. Don't take a large case, it won't fit in the lift. The lift will take 1 medium case plus 1 person. Now to the room - The […] double bed was fine but the single bed was on its last legs. The sink didn't drain. I reported it to reception & was told that the maintenance man would call in later. He didn't. The same happened the next day. When we left on the third day the sink was still blocked. If you wish to read then pack a torch. There is no main room light and two of the four other lights didn't work and one of the two that worked was so dim that a match would have been brighter. The manager said that, due to health and safety rules, the electrician had locked all the spare light bulbs away so that even the manager was not allowed to change a light bulb. After much persistence, the manager did turn up wit some lightbulbs. One light fitting still didn't work so he said he would get the electrician to it the following day. You can guess - we saw a much of him as we did of the plumber! Oh, and finally, a positive - the bathroom window opened quite wide (but safely) so less hot than some of these hotels with stupid overly restricted window openings. Enjoy your stay! Read more

Britania Hotels appear to cater for coach tours. Consequently, the feel of the hotel was more like a holiday camp than a hotel. Although the experience was 'ok' it is not what I'm looking for in a hotel stay. I was very unhappy with my stay here. The lift was too small to get my pushchair in (it is only a little stroller) so I had to carry my daughter up and leave my pushchair in the car. Our room was clean, fresh and comfortable. The food was very good. The reception and bar staff were friendly and efficient. The pool looked inviting and the garden was very pleasant under the trees on a hot day. We will definitely stay there again. Excellent value for money!

Terrible Hotel. Its cheap and budget for younger people partying in bournemouth, but still not worth the money. Hotel rooms are horrible, we didnt get the room we requested then had to pay more. Room was cramped, smelly and falling apart. Dripping noises all night with the lift keeping you up creeking up and and down. have stayed here on regular basis stayed in different room to last of couple of times and was much better as regards to bathroom facilities , always clean and staff always helpful with requests for any additionhs for room required(could do with sorting out heating system -not working properly but did provide radiator for room but was a little heavy […] to move about (not suitable for elderly people who would have problems with this )- restaurant facilities not so good - supply of food was slow when running out many people here dis-satisfied with this - toasting machine very slow and having to put bread in 2-3 times before browning (the bread they brought out was frozen also )-not many staff on duty to deal with customer requests and were abit sharp in their tone when speaking to customers and staff)-need training regarding cross-contamination(mixed up fruit juices in containers (apple and grapefruit)not good if someone has allergies to such items - (could cause allergice reaction and make them ill) was restricted with seating as part of dining area out of use due to leaking roof but hopefully will be restored soon - other concer if we had difficulty in parking here we used to be able to use faclities at roundhouse down the road but was informed they are now charging customers to park here (feel this is unfair and in brochure in room still states free parking -need this sorting) Read more

You get what you pay for. Basic room a little on the small side, view from window was of the roof and rooms opposite. The room did have tea and coffee making fascilities, no centre light in the room,so light was from 2 bedside lights and an upright floor standing lamp, so not overly well lit. The room had a tv and en suite bathroom. Lifts were very […] small - could only fit 2 people and their cases in them. The buffet breakfast was good, self service and have as much as you like style. The location was ideal for us, it was near to home, far enough away for a romantic break, we could walk to the beach, and while we were there we attended a function in one of the neighbouring hotels. Just a 20 minute stroll along the beach into the centre of Bournemouth. Free parking at the hotel was good, which we were able to use until 1pm on the day of departure, enabling some shopping to be done, with no parking fees. We did not use the swimming pool, which incurred a few pounds additional charge, the pool looked nice but you had to walk outside to access it, and the building looked a but tired, and glass roof in need of a good clean. Overall it was value for money,with basic rooms,although in need of some modernising and decorating. Read more
