At the last minute, we decided to add a couple of days to our B.C. trip by going to Victoria. We went to Trip Advisor and found The Oswego Hotel. We chose by price, availability and neighborhood, but had no idea that we were about to stay in our new favorite hotel! The room - they only had a Junior Suite at the last minute - was very nicely furnished, […] very calming (walls were a light sage/celery with dark wood furniture), and had amenities that I really appreciated (being a foodie who likes to cook). Each room basically has a full kitchen - small 4-burner stove-top, mini dishwasher, microwave - and all the utensils, pots, pans and cutlery one might need. We entered to room to music playing on the personal sound system and, although not our style of music, it was a nice touch. Each room came with a discount coupon for meals in the restaurant, and parking underneath was very reasonable. The staff was outstanding and friendly, and saw to our every need. The only minor - and I mean minor - glitch was we thought there was an express checkout where we could leave the keys and flee to the airport. In the end, we had to get our receipt printed. If only life was always this hard! All in all, we give this hotel an A+++ and are considering a week-long stay there in the future. Read more

Excellent location right at inner harbor and old town. We had a studio suite facing Oswego street. The room was equipped witha nice kitchenette and included all the equipment needed. Excellent hotel. Met all our requirements. No surprises. The kitchenette was very helpful for us - we could get food from the market on Yates street and enjoy. I liked the inviting touch of having a red and white wine in the room on check-in. Quiet and being a block away from the harbor was good - 5 min walk to the ferry (M/V Coho).

Beautiful hotel, conveniently located. Unfortunately we were there during a record heat wave and it is NOT air-conditioned. And sleeping with the doors and windows open meant being awakened by before the crack of dawn all the noisy seagulls.

We booked this hotel after booking a 3 day Victoria Clipper excursion from Seattle. It was within walking distance from the docks (2 blocks). We found it to be in close proximity to everything we needed. The hotel was clean, very friendly staff and relaxing. I would recommend dinner at the Bistro if you want a quiet and relaxing atmosphere but the Bistro is a bit pricier than I would expect for what was served. We traveled to Victoria, British Columbia, for the first time during the summer of 2012. We couldn't be more pleased with the Oswego Hotel. There are many reasons for saying that, including cost, room comfort, helpfulness and pleasantness of the staff, etc. But for us, the hotel's location was perfect and the main reason we will stay there again. The […] Oswego is just a short walk (two blocks) from one of the main attractions of Victoria ... the Inner Harbor and all that's located along its perimeter. But it's just enough off the beaten path to render a quiet change from the Inner Harbor's activity and noise, which can last well into the night. Returning to the Oswego after touring the area, we always felt we were "coming back to a neighborhood" at the end of the day. The hotel is also just a block and a half from the Clipper Ferry to Seattle. The Oswego isn't a large hotel, but it's still large enough to have its own bar, lounge and restaurant. And just down the block are two more favorite Victoria eateries: the Santiago and the Harbor Restaurant (where we dined two nights in a row!). All in all, the Oswego and its staff made our brief stay in Victoria all that more enjoyable. Read more

I have stayed in hotel rooms all around the world and can easily recommend the Oswego in Victoria for its ambience, location, cleanliness, and overall value. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room, quality finishings and incredible views of the Parliament building from our private balcony. I wish every hotel stay was this nice.

Great hotel for tourists and business alike. The 1bedroom was a spacious suite for our family of 4. Adequate bath and kitchen and affordable parking immediately under the hotel. Had we not received a complimentary upgrade I would have felt the room was overpriced. The carpet and furniture seemed a little worn, tattered with some stains and damage. No A/C which I suppose is normal for the area given the heat is rarely as high as it was the weekend we stayed there. I was surprised the coffee I ordered from room service came in […] a small paper cup. I expected a carafe of coffee with real cream, sugar and a coffee cup. If you are visiting Victoria and centering your activities around the Inner Harbor, this is your resting place! Couldn't be more convenient. Two blocks off the harbor in a quiet neighborhood with terrific restaurants in every direction. Too bad we didn't realize that there is a lovely walking path along the waterfront opposite the Inner Harbor. That […] too is easily accessible and such a nice break from the more touristy areas. As for the quality of the accomodation, it was quite wonderful. We had a number of little inconveniences, such as not enough towels, a non-working hot pot, and a light that was out, but the staff was johnny-on-the-spot and absolutely gracious. It was a beautiful room, nicely appointed, and we enjoyed more than one evening out on our balcony. I recommend it to anyone and would be very happy to stay there again. Read more

My wife and I had a suite on the third floor at the Oswego and loved it. The furniture was very comfortable. There was a great balcony. The kitchen appliances--oven, stove, sink, microwave, dishwasher--all worked well. The bathroom had a separate shower and bath tub, which was nice. The hotel was lovely, relaxing, and clean. The staff was great and exceptionallly helpful wirh travel information for us. We had the Murphy bed suite so the bed was not the best ever... but not bad. We loved the modern and tasteful decor of the hotel rooms and lobby and the calming music when you enter. All in all we really enjoyed this hotel. Good first impression diminished as the stay progressed. The location is great, especially if you're arriving in Victoria from the U.S. via ferry, as it is just a couple of blocks up the street from the ferry terminals in a quiet residential neighborhood. The staff is very friendly and efficient, and the rooms are very well-appointed. I thought the […] bed was exceptionally comfortable (I find most hotel beds not to be supportive enough). However... almost immediately after getting into the room I discovered the toilet wouldn't flush. An attendant patched up what was already an improvised repair with a safety pin. The room air conditioner controls were worn out and worked erratically. The adjusting rod for the blinds in the room also had an improvised repair, which failed and had to be stuck back together. Finally, on the second day the room's door lock started to malfunction and the rest of the trip was spent repeatedly making room keys to see if any of them would work more than half of the time (they wouldn't). I can't remember a stay in a hotel of this class where more things went wrong, especially things the hotel should have been able to fix. On the other hand, the food in the bistro was very good for hotel food, and service outstanding. And the Internet connection (no extra charge) was fast and stable, which was very critical since I had to do a business videoconference while I was there. So a mixed bag but I might give them another chance next trip to Victoria. Read more

The Oswego is located in a quiet, private, and safe location. It was only a short walk to the major tourist attractions along the inner harbor. NO drinks after 10pm. TV channels were all down in my room and they wouldn’t move my room. Lipstick on the glasses in my room. Iron was broke and stained my $80 shirt. Room and hotel could have been so much better. Nice location quite. All rooms have QUEEN beds I like a KING and not sure who would want a queen these days. Delivery at 6am out my window […] was not the wakeup call I wanted. I like CLEAN modern and a little more attention on what your guests want not what will make you jobs easier. A big letdown. The Oswego Hotel is close to everything. We were in a two bedroom suite which was spacious and lovely furnished. We also enjoyed the beautiful view on the 9th floor. The staff were very helpful, and the parking is underground and secure. We would definitely return to this hotel again!

We had a two-couple suite which was well appointed, clean, and comfortable. The style was modern and attractive; the website photos are accurate. The location is a short walk to most Inner Harbor activities and the marine ferry docks. Service was impeccable at the front desk and the on-site eatery. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Decor is ok. Check in process was looooong. No Central Air conditioning...room was awful hot (in 3rd weekend in May) Bed: hard as a rock and pillow was overstuffed and totally not comfortable. Not staying here again!

The Oswego Hotel is very convenient for visiting the Inner Harbour of Victoria, and particularly for Clipper travelers. It is a 2 block walk from the boat terminal and the hotel staff are happy to hold baggage after arrival and before check-in or after check-out and before departure. Walking to sites is very peaceful and easy along the water, and the […] hotel is in a more peaceful setting in the James Bay neighborhood than staying right in downtown. A grocery store is a short walk away for stocking the in-room kitchen and refrigerator. The only negative of the stay was that the shower did not drain properly the first morning.
