I did not get the sea view room I booked and paid for online, as the hotel had overbooked itself. The room's hotel safe, hair dryer and shower head were all broken beyond repair (although lots of tape was used to try). Some of the staff were very nice and helpful, but a rarety among the majority working there.

The lobby, pool area and bar/restaurant were lovely. The room was dark and shabby and the air conditioner erratic. However, the bathroom was very clean and large. Reception staff seemed unresponsive and unhelpful to our complaints.

Apparently they don't clean the rooms everyday, so when we came back from the pool and beach and found out we can't take a shower because there are no clean towels, we called and asked for some. Only after 10 more phone calls and refusing to hang up, did the towels finally arrive 3 hours later with a very unfriendly service guy. The reception clerk […] was completely indifferent to our requests and complaints that we've been waiting to take a shower for over 3 hours... The room was badly maintained and we couldn't flush the toilet. After six hours that it wasn't fixed and more phone calls, someone finally arrived without any tools, and ended up patching it so that it worked for one flush and then broke again. We repeated this process a few more times and it wasn't fixed by the time we left. The location is very remote and no hotel beach. The city shuttle operates once every hour at most and not past 8pm. They wouldn't let us board the shuttle from the airport to the hotel, saying we didn't check in yet... At night a local beggar haunts the shuttle station which is not in eyesight of the hotel lobby. Scary, don't go alone. The rooms themselves are very nice but don't really stop the light from entering, so I ended up waking up with sunrise at 6am. The pool area is nice and organized, breakfast is pretty good, and the tuk-tuk staff are readily available and very friendly. I wouldn't come back to this place, there are better alternatives in Eilat even for cabin-styled stays. Read more

We stayed for just 2 nights and found the location great for us as we wanted to go snorkling and could bike to the beach and rent equipment. It is a ways from downtown Eilat, so a car is necessary if you are going to want to go into the city for meals, shopping and other entertainment. The resort is on a steep hill and the hotel has golf carts to ferry […] you up and down whenever you call. Breakfast was plentiful and the food was good. Usual Israeli salads, pickled fish, watered down juice, etc. But also made to order omelettes, fruit, sweets. We were a bit disappointed that you could only use the pool between 8-5 when the life guard is on duty (even though he didn't seem to be paying a lot of attention to the pool when he was there). Gorgeous grounds and view. Quiet. Brunch nice but a bit crowded at time. Not a typical Hotel as rooms scttered up the hill but it was easy to walk down and up even without the transport carts. Staff was very nice.

The Orchid Eilat is a very unique hotel. Our room was near the upper part of the property and required the use of staff driven tuk-tuks (golf carts) to get to and from the main area of the hotel. We never had to wait more than a couple of minutes to be driven from our room. The longest we waited to go up to the room was about 5 minutes, but, most of […] the time it was very quick. The lobby and pool area was beautiful and modern. There was always plenty of places to sit. There were even a few large mattresses around the pool for lounging. From the pool area, there are great views of the Red Sea, just across the street. The Orchid is south of the main town of Eilat. It was perfect because we didn't want to be in the city. If you don't have a car and want to explore more, maybe you wouldn't want to be so far from the city. Even though we did have a car, we only used it once to drive into town. We were so spoiled by the hotel and beach, that we left the city within a 1/2 hour to get back. Directly across from the hotel is the aquarium. It is a nice aquarium with an underwater viewing area of the Red Sea. It also has a submarine tour that takes you along the reef for about 20 minutes. Our favorite part of our experience here was the beach. The Orchid uses Migdal Or Beach (about a 1/4 mile walk). For hotel guests, access to the beach and snorkel equipment is free (Don't forget to bring something of collateral for your snorkel equipment...id or credit card). You'll want to bring money or credit card to enjoy the beach side food and beverage services. Their food was outstanding...so much so that we picked one day to stay all day and had lunch and dinner there. There are alcohol and non-alcohol drinks as well. The beach is equipped with umbrellas, chairs and tables (no cost...lounge chairs extra). For those of you that have never been to Eilat, I suggest bringing some sort of water shoe or strap sandal. The service at the hotel was horrible. It's not that people were rude. It's just that nobody seemed to care (you should never tell a guest "I don't know.") When the golf cart dropped us off at our room, both of our keys didn't work. The driver used his master key to let us in and said he'd be back with our new keys. He never came back. The keys stopped […] working again during our stay of only 2 nights. Turns out that they are aware of the problem, but they won't fix it. They just expect you to come back to get new keys. Since the dinner buffet was expensive (over 35 USD for not great food) and the on-property restaurant was closed (doorman didn't know if it was open or not), we asked the person at reception for recommendations. She said she couldn't recommend any!!! The location (5/10 min drive out of town) is not a problem if you have a car. If you plan on staying at the hotel all the time, dinner will get expensive as mentioned above. We didn't have a problem with the music at the pool being too loud like other people mentioned here. The pool didn't close at 5PM either. It stayed open past 8PM. We will never go back to this hotel. Read more

A lovely quiet hotel, a distance from the center but the free city bus service from the hotel to the Center and back required us to pack-in the day with activity and catch the last bus at 7:30 p.m. before calling it a day. Returning to the hotel at 7:30 p.m. enabled us to swim/jacuzzi until 9:00 p.m.and then relaxing at the pool with cocktails and watching […] the sunset was beautiful and breathtaking. Since the hotel is removed from the Center strip it is quiet and relaxing. The hotel decor is Thai and with the Tuk Tuk service and the palm trees in the landscape you forget where you are - every room has a terrace with a splendid view . The 24 hour Tuk Tuk service is quick and efficient - a ride enjoyed by all. The hotel offers an incredible breakfast buffet to write home about. The hotel is across the street from the zoo and a short distance from scuba diving with the dolphins - a remarkable experience. We went to the Center to parasail and took a pedicure in a fish pool - the latest method promoted by the Japanese. It took a lot of courage to dip our feet into the fish pool but once you overcome the apprehension you find that the fish do a remarkable job. Our visit was on June 10. It was hot and continuously bought drinks to keep us cool. Drinking was absolutley necessary. We had a lovely time and would highly recommend the Orchid Hotel. It' was a memorable experience. I had a very relaxing stay while at the Orchid Hotel in Eilat. The hotel is about 5 minutes south of the central part of the city, thus very quiet. It's a 2 minute walk to the beach access point where there was plenty of room, chairs, sand, water, cold beer, food and coral. The room was very clean and the bed was quite comfy. I had a view of the pool […] and ocean. I didn't expect so many kids, but a quick walk to the beach fixed that. Breakfast was noisy and slammed with kids...go eat early. I dont' know why, but my room didn't have a fridge in it. Being in the desert, I was hoping to put some drinks in the fridge to keep them cold, but no fridge in my room. If I go back there to vacation again, I think I'd spend some more money to get one of the bigger bungalos...those looked sweet!! Over all I was very happy my stay...just what the Dr. ordered!! We enjoyed the resort. Grounds were beautiful and we had a porch that was great for sitting with a lovely view. The massage was wonderful! The buffet was crowded, busy and the food was mediocre. We ate our dinners at other hotels most of the time.

Hours later i asked again; she gave me a room with rusty hot water and a broken sliding door with a sticker on it reminding me to lock it. They managed to "fix" the door and she said she would fix the hot water, of course she could not, but I did […] not want to continue to argue with her, so I went back to my room and took a rusty shower; hope I don't get tetanus! The hotel is in a beautiful, private location, with a nice breakfast & beautiful view of the beach. However, the only good service came from the Tuk Tuk driver - which others have complained about. Ordered room service the first night as we were tired: it took several calls to get them to respond. We had a great experience at the Orchid Resort, January 2011. The place was relatively empty and quiet, which was exactly what we wanted for a mid-week getaway. We used the bus to get into the city of Eilat at night, and called the front desk of the hotel to make sure we could get back. They were wrong about the last departing bus (it was 7:30 and they […] told us 8:00) so we ended up taking a cab. The English of the staff isn't very good. Even if they speak, they don't always understand exactly what you are asking....and like many Israelis in the service industry, they are rude. (they talk over you, or are insistent about their information) But the room was great, the pool was nice, the hot tub was nice (not hot enough) and the breakfast was outstanding. The lobby is great and the atmosphere of the place is very conducive to a relaxing vacation. Computers in the lobby, right across from the bar, very relaxing lobby with comfy couches and tables. We ordered a pizza and bought a bottle of wine and ate on the pool terrace one night...so much fun. The hotel has a very nice buffet dinner, too, and we were expecting them to be nasty about us eating non-hotel food, but nobody said a word. It is a great place, with a real vacation atmosphere. Beautiful view from our balcony, too. We are coming back. At the end of our stay, we were given a voucher for 3 nights at a good price for our next stay. Very smart. Read more
