The room was great. Huge bathroom vanity for the 2 of us. Location excellent for sightseeing. Carpet, however, def needed to be cleaned. It is on a busy street so a bit noisy not bad. The parking is not very good. I had to park my brand new car in the very small underground parking where overnight leaking pipes dripped on it all night. The room was dusty. The microwave and refrigerator had something splashed all over the front. Good thing I brought my own lysol spray and antibacterial wipes! The AC didn't cool the room either it […] was very humid and hot. All these things aren't even the worst of it. The shower had a condom wrapped around the shower head. A reasonable, clean, retro hotel very convenient to pretty much everything on the western side of LA and an easy cruise downtown. Nice staff, clean rooms, funky 50s-ish architecture, hip clientele. The pluses: Location is great. Hot water and water pressure in shower is great. The front desk was great (we had even left one of our bags outside our car and they found it and held it for us!). The minuses: room could be cleaner -- just a general feeling of "could be cleaner" - bathroom was dusty, found hairs on sheets and toilet #assume it is from […] the cleaning staff :#. We rented 2 rooms here. Ours was in tough shape - the table between beds was on sort of a stick at an angle. Countertop in bathroom was on a big slant. We left an expensive special dr recommended pillow in our room at check out. We realized it was missing a couple hours later, called the hotel and they said they had it at the front desk. When we returned to the hotel it was not our pillow. The manager verified no one but the maid service had access to the room yet and allowed me to go and check the […] room myself. Couldn't find the pillow so the manager took my number and said he would call me the next day. The hotel owner then called me and was VERY rude and unwilling to make me, the customer, happy. We had a delightful stay over Thanksgiving. The hotel is well located --walk to Farmers' Market, many upscale furniture stores. The decor is retro and charming. Unpretentious but clean and well managed with free parking. Hope to stay again when we visit LA.
