"Nice Place- Great Owners"
Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Nov 17, 2009
My wife and I were on a trip to VT and wanted to find a good value place to stay in Williamstown. The Williams Inn was always a favorite but it's too expensive now. The 1896 was a great value. The owners are friendly and accomodating. Dinner down the road at the Mill on the Floss is worth the trip.

We were visiting Williams College, and found the 1896 House to be beautiful for a motel. It has the Pub, with a really nice outdoor patio, very good food and great service. Would easily stay here again.

This motel was perfectly fine for a one night visit. It was clean and comfortable. Only two complaints: plugs were not the standard three pronged, grounded variety needed to plug in my laptop. One outlet had an adapter but it was across the room. Also, breakfast began at 8:00 which was too late for me to take advantage of and still make a morning meeting. But these were annoyances and not serious drawbacks.

Very quaint, comfortable, country style rooms with pond running alongside, which we did not get to enjoy due to the cold weather. Walk across a foot bridge and your at the 1896 House and Pub -- great food and wonderful atmosphere.

a charming little motel, with some nice amenities, like a buffet breakfast in old farmhouse, and nice walkway along a babbling brook.

The owners have done a nice job turning a 1950s style motel into a very comfortable motel. We were impressed with the homey quilts on the bed, the real bed frames, the nice furniture, the free Wi-Fi, and a fantastic breakfast. And you can beat the location... the backyard is wooded, and the front area has a stream. And the owner was very nice. She takes a lot of pride in the place.

I was pleased with this hotel the rooms were a good size and very comfortable. What stood out most was the location, we stayed in the Brookside section of the hotel complex. It is in a beautiful location. And just a short drive to Williamstown. Also there is a nice restaurant and pub in a neighboring building. The staff were friendly and helpful as well. I would stay there again and would recommend this hotel!

Rooms were in very good condition and quite clean. Chekin/out fast and efficient with no problems. WIFI indicated low signal, but there were no connectivity issues. Convenient location to Williamstown area and easy parking. Restaurant on premises has good bar, slightly under average food.

This hotel was good for our intended purpose, a clean motel for a one night overnight stop. The onsite Pub was ok for a drink and basic fare to save driving elsewhere.
