We loved this hotel! It is in the heart of the city and within walking distance to great restaurants, pubs and shops. Very updated and upscale hotel. Don't let the proximity to the airport deter you from staying here, the planes do not fly overhead between 9pm - 8am. Great hotel!!

You can't complain about the Center Hotel Plaza. Located close to all the main attractions, this well maintained hotel is a steal. The rooms are typical of European hotel rooms with everything that you need to be comfortable. The shower was a little tight, but it did what you needed it to do. An extra towel or two might have been nice, but they were […] changed daily. The front desk staff was more than helpful and willing to stow a bag upon pre check in time and to make any arrangements necessary for excursions. Breakfast was fantastic and would be hard to top. I arrived at the hotel at 6 AM and for an extra €25 they allowed me to do early check in. Well worth the money to be able to take a nice hot shower and have breakfast included. They arranged tours for us, called and asked questions of tour companies and offered excellent recommendations for local restaurants. Everything was within walking distance of the hotel so it was very convenient. The hotel was very good. I had decided on that particular facility as there was a promotional fare. However, when I got there I was a bit disappointed with the room. It was small and in the attic. I had to carry my suitcase as there was no elevator reaching that floor. The room was not comfortable. I kept hitting the ceiling with my head, the same in […] the bathroom. The Plaza is right in the middle of town, within convenient walking distance to tours, restaurants and shopping. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The wear and tear on the hotel was evident. The TV in my room didn't work, everything was very cramped, and although the breakfast was included, it was greasy and cold every day i was there. Also, it was advertised as a great centralized location to all city sights, it was centrally located to the location to the city tour office where you buy tickets […] and get the tour busses. There were very few things in walking distance that would ensure efficient use of time when touring the city. Only saving grace was that the night staff tried to help. Other staff were useless. Wonderful central location. Great breakfast. Our room was clean and comfortable but very minimal. It was large but could have rated higher without 4 huge skylights in the ceiling which prevented the room from ever becoming dark for better sleep. The hotel is located in the Centre City part of Rekjavik, which is exactly where you want to stay while visiting this city. The hotel seems to be a particular favorite for middle aged American travelers. The morning buffet is terrific, best in the city. The hotel is very conveniently located, and the common areas are well-kept. The rooms are very small, not carpeted, and the walls are VERY thin. Not a hotel for light sleepers. My room smelled like body odor, and doors around me seemed to constantly slam, especially early in the morning. The included breakfast was plentiful, but not high quality.

The only annoyance was the constant sounds of kids skateboarding right outside. But hotel several couple blocks from the bars and clubs so the late-night crowd is far enough away. Great location, rather shopworn. Our room was very inconvenient to get to (up to floor three, across a bridge, down a slow handicap elevator to floor one). No A/C so opened the windows. Extremely loud passersby - woke us up at 4 am! Also, could hear loud music from disco. Very small shower. Were told we'd have one room and then were switched to another. […] Was not able to check in until 2 pm even though we arrived at 9 am. The 2 only good things about this hotel were the size of our room and the location.I booked for 2 adults and a child (even called in advance to be sure we would have 2 beds), the receptionist made us pay a fee for the child bed and when we came in the room we had only one. Very happy with our stay. Staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great, with wide variety of foods. Location could not be better- close to shopping, boat tours in the old harbor, restaurants, the pond. Also easy location to catch local buses from, for travel to Kringlan or Perlan etc.

Perfect location within walking distance of all city sites (2mins from the harbour for whale watching for example). The hotel room was small which is why I rated it 4 but was perfectly adequate for a solo traveller. It was clean and had a small fridge/mini bar. One of a series of fairly blandly named hotels in Reykjavik, I was particularly impressed by the front desk staff at this place. They worked long hours from what I could tell, but it didn't show in their demeanor, and, as expected in Iceland, their English was flawless. For example, the first night, I was in a room where the toilet didn't flush--they […] had no difficulties in relocating me from that point on. The included breakfast wasn't a huge variety but it was tasty enough. And the location really couldn't be better--right off of the main drag of Reykjavik, and tons of restaurants within less than a five minute walk. Frankly, I'm surprised it didn't get noisy because there's a main lively main square right there in front of CenterHotel. Unfortunately, the rooms are quite drab in terms of decor--hospitals often have better decoration. And the layout of the upper floors is quite confusing, with ramps and a weird lift to get to some out-of-the-way rooms. But these shouldn't affect or bother most people--I'd go here again without hesitation. Read more

The hotel has a check-in-early option for 30 Euros. It is well worth the money to sleep off jet-lag. Great location in the old part of town, and our room had a fantastic view of the plaza. The complimentary breakfast was very good and offered lots of choices. Best of all was the front desk staff, who were super helpful if we needed anything. We were very comfortable here and would recommend it.
