we live in california and were coming back to see family. My grandmother lived in Oceangrove 45 years ago.I wanted to show the town to my spouse. It was GRAND!The hotel PERFECT!A spectacular memory. We walked on the boardwalk the night we got there. We had a good nights sleep on the comfy bed.Got up the next morning to a delicious breakfast. Really have nothing bad to say. I guess breakfast could be better if you are expecting made-to-order, but I thought it was fine. Other than that, I liked the room, the management, the location. Great stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A lovely fall stay"
The proprietor greeted us warmly and we felt right at home immediately. Being just a few steps from the beach and from lovely shops and restaurants was fantastic! Breakfast was very enjoyable.Genuine Expedia guest review
Such a cute place. Makes you feel cozy immediately even before you walk in the door. The host was incredibly helpful and sweet, showed us the best places on a town map and offered complete assistance if we were to need anything at all. We stayed in one of the newer modern rooms so the decor was updated and contemporary. The room was small but it's all […] you need. Verrrry comfortable pillows and comforter. Walking distance to the beach and to many shops and restaurants in town. I would definitely stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Renew yourself at the Majestic"
This hotel is beautiful and quiet. It is in the perfect spot to experience the quaintness of Ocean Grove. It is like stepping back in time to simpler times. I highly recommend this hotel. It has balconies where you can sit and watch the ocean. It renews you.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I was looking for something different and found it"
I travel every week and I really wanted to find something different. Having never spent any time on the shore, this was the perfect spot. 1/2 block from the beach in an amazing victorian neighborhood with clean accommodations fit just right. Although I had no issues at all, if you are looking for stellar wifi, a generous parking lot, or state of the […] art tv, do everyone a favor and look/stay/complain elsewhere. The night of engagement here. It was a perfect staying experience. Definitely, we will rebook in the near future. The room was featured with old fashioned European style design and surprisingly orange-flavor shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and moisturizer. The hotel is close to the beach and it is just 1 min walking there. Enjoy the peaceful and beautiful […] nights here. Recommend Room 2. You can see the beach directly from the window and it is opened to the balcony. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice hotel-one block from the beach. Nice balcony.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great location, very nice rooms, great common space to spread out and enjoy -- 2nd floor balcony porch, 4th floor enclosed sitting room and outdoor tables, etc. Window unit AC is not the best but certainly better than nothing. Restaurant on site was very good.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Clean Hotel"
Just loved it will definitely be back the end of August for 2 nights. Very comfortable for a family of 4. My two sons were so happy that they had gotten to stay at a B&B in Ocean Grove. We usually stay at the Marriott, but we were so lucky they had availability. The common front porch area was great and the views were just awesome.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Biggest rooms in OG"
Perfect! Nice sized rooms--loved it! Everything was great. It wasn't pristine, but it was clean. I was really happy with the room. I've stayed everywhere in OG and this room was big in comparison!Genuine Expedia guest review
Great hotel! Close to the beach and perfect for a romantic getaway!Genuine Expedia guest review
I would recommend this place to someone who is looking for a place to stay that is close to the beach/boardwalk. They have a restaurant downstairs that had excellent seafood (a little pricey) but was very good. Later on in the evening I went to the restaurant and ordered 2 desserts (delicious) and they had them sent to the room. The room itself was […] not very big (room 6) but if it is only you and your significant other it should be plenty. The bed was comfortable and it opened out to a small balcony where you had a side view of the ocean. Pros: Very friendly and informative staff, had a very "homely" feel to it, very comfortable bed, affordable rates, close to the beach/boardwalk. Cons: Small television, could hear footsteps above room, it was hard to find a parking spot during the day. If I happen to come to this area again, majestic will be first on the list. Not yet recovered from Sandy. But, many in-room issues that should be noticed by housekeeping and reported/fixed. Staff did not ask for suggestions, observations or feedback.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Pleasant one night stay"
Overall, a great experience for a night away. Because it was mid-week and off-season, it was extremely affordable. Ocean Grove is a cute town with many quaint shops. The updated room we stayed in did not advertise an ocean view and yet still had a small balcony where the ocean was visible.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, friendly staff, but an old hotel"
I stayed here for just one night after Easter and would recommend it with some caveats. Ocean Grove obviously is a beach town, and I stayed on a Monday night. Many stores and restaurants are closed on Monday and/or Tuesday, so I didn't get to see everything I would have liked. I love walking the beach but do not care to see people in bathing suits, […] so I went in April. It was perfect for me, and I would return in the Fall. The hotel is old, but in good condition. You won't find some of the fine details that are in more modern facilities, and some of the fixtures and appliances are old, but everything is in good working order. For the continental breakfast, you fill out your order the night before, and designate the time you'd like it. In the morning you go down to the dining area and the owner brings you your breakfast. So there's a personal touch, and the hotel doesn't waste money providing a lot of food that might go to waste. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"This is the place to stay!!"
Welcoming, comfortable, clean, and charming....this and more. I used to live in the area before moving to SoCal so I knew of this B&B. When I planned to come to the area recently....I knew I would like to stay here. I have to say this beautiful place exceeded my expectations. The service was excellent. ...the owner is a sweetheart. ....what more can […] I say...except.......stay here when you visit. I am sure you will be exceedingly pleased. The hotel itself is beautiful but I would not go back. When we arrived the heat had not been turned in the room and it was freezing. The bathroom floor tile was even colder and stepping out of the shower onto the floor was not fun. I hope the AC works better in the summer. Perhaps they should not stay open in the winter.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I really loved this hotel. I enjoyed how personal the whole experience was; I was able to walk down the steps and speak with friendly staff at any time during the day. The only reason I didn't give it all 5's is because it is an old house and therefore has old house issues such as a squeaky sink and finicky shower. This is not a stereotypical hotel, […] but if you enjoy unique, you'll love it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A trip back in time...in a good way"
The Majestic is...well...a majestic old Victorian with a view of the Atlantic on a street of beautifully restored old houses. If this is your sort of thing, the Majestic is the perfect place for you (as it was for me). With any restored B&B, you need to be realistic...this won't be ideal for the traveler who needs everything new and fast -- The water […] never really got hot enough, but that is to be expected in an old hotel. Embrace the past - this place is fantastic. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Majestic is a wonderful and friendly bed and breakfast. Jim was very attentive to our needs and we felt right at home. The house is gorgeous with many different views of the ocean, even though it's about a half a block inland. There is a beautiful sitting room at the top of the house as well as two porches you can sit on: one is located on the first […] level and another on the second level. The lobby is very welcoming and a nice place to eat your continental breakfast and read a newspaper. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A Wonderful short visit"
We recently spent 2nights at the Majestic Hotel. Absolutely no complaints, very close to the ocean and shopping, a very comfortable and spacious room, and a bonus...an onsite restaurant where we had a delicious dinner on the veranda. I would strongly recommend having at least one meal here during your stay. The staff was very helpful and pleasant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A weekend to remember."
Our 3-night stay at the Majestic Hotel was very enjoyable with the personal qualities of a quaint Inn only steps away from the ocean and a about a 10-15 minute walk to Asbury Park. We enjoyed morning walks to the Barberic Bean coffee shop and boutique shopping only a block away. Although, continental breakfast at the hotel was delicious with many choices. The […] Innkeeper, Gavin was very courteous, friendly, professional and accommodating. We were fortunate to have stayed in the Penthouse Suite for 2 nights (pricey but beautiful) which was very comfortable, spacious, and contemporary. For our last night we moved to a smaller but lovely bright room with access to a large balcony. Both rooms had a jacuzzi, refrigerator, and microwave and were perfectly clean with quality bedding and linens. We would consider visiting.this property again without hesitation. "Pleasant hotel not far from the waterfront"
Neat and well-appointed room, quiet handy location, helpful staff. No problem getting an extra (inflatable) bed. Breakfast was better than we had had in other hotels. Only problem was that the reception was not always manned.Genuine Expedia guest review
Friendly and helpful staff. Hotel facade and lobby nicer than the room. Room was uncomfortably hot - AC at full blast didn't make much impact.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Can't fault it"
We had an excellent one night stay in a good looking and comfortable room with balcony. Staff were very friendly and told us about the local area. The hotel is close to the Main Street and beach, and a short walk from the restaurants in Asbury Park. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel, and thought it was good value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location in a beautiful Victorian style hote"
Room was clean and the amenities good. The owner was very friendly and helpful and we shared our travel experiences which was a nice way to get to know each other. Would love to come back in summer and see what it is like walking along the boardwalk.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Älteres Hotel in Strandnähe"
Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice overnight getaway"
02/03/15 jsrmck New York, NY
Just got back from an overnight stay at the Majestic. We had never been to Ocean Grove in the off season, so did not know what to expect. It was actually quite lovely. There had been 2 recent snow storms and we were greeted by the owner, snow shovel in hand. We had a small room on the third floor, with a comfortable bed and a well renovated and well stocked bathroom. it was fine for one night, but if we had been there longer, we would have asked for a bigger room. As it was off season, there was painting and repairing going on. Did not bother us, as we could see it was part of the necessary upkeep. There was continental breakfast, which was more than adequate. Even in the winter, a walk on the boardwalk was a nice activity. We would definitely return.
"Great birthday weekend"
11/19/14 ElefantePete New York City
Earlier this summer, I was looking for a long weekend escape to celebrate my wife's birthday with our kids. My main criteria was to find a place near the beach, not too far of a drive from Manhattan, nice and charming and of course, since my wife is a foodie, that it offered good dining options. During my search I came across the Majestic in Ocean Grove and decided to stay there. We had a wonderful stay, starting with the room they gave us located on the second floor. It was big, clean, nicely decorated AND it faced the deck with an ocean view. We could open our windows and feel the ocean breeze or sit by the deck, while looking into our room. The room also had more than enough space to accommodate a mattress for our two girls and a small kitchen with a fridge where we could keep our goodies. It really felt like we were in our own Summer house! A typical day for us was very simple: breakfast, beach, snack/lunch, beach, dinner. The continental breakfast was excellent. It offered plenty of options including cereal, yoghurt, pastries, eggs, coffee and juice. The access to the beach is very easy, you can get a day pass and it's about a 3 minute walk away. The Majestic also has a nice restaurant that offers lunch and dinner options. If you crave a break from the beach, and burning all those calories sitting in the sun makes you hungry, you can just walk back and have lunch at the Majestic sitting on the porch (we did on arrival day). Or you can get a lunch box. We also had dinner at the Majestic restaurant one evening and it was excellent. Just remember, Ocean Grove is a dry town, so make sure to bring your own wine. For the kids, there is a fantastic ice cream place a couple of blocks away, with gigantic, homemade ice cream. As far as other dinner options, there are plenty. One evening we walked along the boardwalk to Asbury Park to one of the restaurants. They have multiple options and most looked quite busy. Our choice was good and we did not leave hungry. And for my wife's birthday dinner we also walked to Pascal & Sabine's in Asbury Park and the food there was delicious. Asbury Park has plenty of choices for the foodie in you. The staff at the Majestic were really friendly and warm and nothing was too much trouble for them. All in all, we had a great time and will definitely be going back there again.

The Majestic was terrific. It was clean. Very pleasant friendly but not over powering service. Great location, near beach. We had a view. A very comfortable bed. All that we needed. Would definitely go back and recommend the place whole heartedly.

"Enjoyed Our Stay"
09/10/14 Joe H Ontario, Canada
We were booked into The Majestic through Travel Rewards. We simply asked for something close to Asbury Park. We'd spent a few days in Manhattan, and were looking for somewhere quiet to decompress after the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. The Majestic was a great choice, but there are a few improvements that can be made. Reserved parking for guests would be nice. We arrived mid-afternoon on a Sunday, and the nearest parking spot we found was nearly a mile away. We opted to do a little shopping to allow time for the beach-going crowd to dissipate. By the time we returned, there was ample parking. The room was, for the most part, clean. The bathroom wasn't "dirty" but it could have used a cleaning. Perhaps a new shower liner, and a more thorough cleaning of the tile in the bathtub. The Majestic is very close to the beach, literally a stone's throw. My fiancé and I enjoyed an evening stroll along the boardwalk, then ventured up to Asbury Park after a good night's rest. Continental breakfast was as good as expected, although the apples were a little mushy, with the least mushy of them being somewhat badly bruised. As for the staff, we only dealt with Bob, who answered when we asked about parking when we first arrived, then greeted us at the front desk. He was quite helpful, even offering to assist with the heavier of our bags, which was appreciated. Bob was quite friendly, and knowledgeable of the area, helping advise us about the beach and surrounding area.
"Dissappointed with lack of details..."
It was apparent upon arrival that this place was not detail oriented.dated and dusty decor.although it's a beach side b&b there was sand every where but the beach! Moldy shower curtain, torn bathrobes and noisey airconditioner.the continental breakfast was ok but the downstairs bathrooms diddn't even have soap!beds were comfortable but the staff was not warm and friendly.also the decor was confusing.the price was comparable but the owners should put a little money into updating the place.did i mention housekeeping wearing a budlight t shirt and they never came to make our beds when we stepped out for the day.they are missing the little details that make it extra special.we would not return.

We just returned from a long weekend at The Majestic. There are two good things about this hotel; one is the location a half block to the beach and the other is their restaurant "Bia". Other than that, not much else is positive. The hotel is very dated, and in need of serious refurbishments. Upon arrival, we were barely greeted(not even a "welcome to the Majestic") by the manager and given our key - the room was not at all like the photo on their website and the one window looked out at the house next door. The beds were terrible and although it had a kitchenette, there was one plate and no carafe for the coffee maker. We had dinner at Bia's on Friday night. The food is very good but the "dining room" is small and drab and lacks any atmosphere and, we weren't told that that there was a rehearsal dinner in the dining room the same night so while we were trying to enjoy our dinner, in came the rehearsal group of 20+ loud and noisy. The rehearsal dinner continued late into the evening and we had to complain about the noise since the dining room was right under our room. A continental breakfast was included which was just ok. When we checked out, the woman at the front desk didn't ask about our stay or even say 'thank you" for coming. The hotel staff seems to be in state of chaos and totally disorganized and not focused on their guests. Not an Inn we'll revisit!

The Majestic is a home away from home, very cozy and comfortable, our room was spotless with a beautiful view!!!!Had Dinner at Bia restaurant and it was perfect, everyone’s dish was unbelievable so happy we made the choice to eat there, the server was so friendly and made us feel so Welcome. Great Job to ALL!!!!!!
"Just what I needed"
Stopped here to rest after working overseas and it was just what I needed. Being off-season, I essentially had the place to myself and enjoyed the quiet and the VIP treatment. The hotel is 1/2 block from the beach and though it was rainy, I still was able to take a much longed for walk on the empty beach. The staff was very kind. I also found some fun retail therapy a couple of blocks in the other direction.

I grew up going to Ocean Grove during the summer. A few family members own homes they rent out so we've always rented from them. I was excited for a new experience & this was great! Complimentary breakfast was a nice surprise. We stayed in room #9 & loved it! Great view from the room and balcony. We enjoyed the jacuzzi tub and the huge bed! Very comfortable. It's right on Main Ave so very close to restaurants and shops. A great place in an amazing town! -The Newlands
