"Free breakfast and airport shuttle"
We needed a place for just one night between flights and were looking for a clean, inexpensive place near the airport that had a free shuttle and breakfast. This fit the bill. Nothing more, nothing less. After arriving, we called the hotel to request shuttle pickup and were told by the manager that the driver was on lunch, so it would be at least 45 […] minutes before pickup. He said if we were willing to take a cab ($18), he would buy each of us (4 adults in our party) a drink at the bar. I think we got the short end of that straw as the drinks were rather weak, and not worth what we paid for our taxi. There must have been more to the shuttle story, as I was in the lobby a couple of hours later, and they were STILL asking people to take a taxi. We ordered sandwiches from the restaurant to enjoy by the pool. As there were no other restaurants nearby, we ordered pizza. The rooms were small, but clean. The beds were average. They served their purpose. In the morning, the shuttle driver was almost 15 minutes late, but when faced with rush-hour traffic, he took a "short-cut" through some neighborhoods, and got us to the airport on time. "Ok facilities, low class staff, very poor location"
We landed in ft lauderdale without reservations so we had to find a place after our plane landed. We called the Rodeway Inn based on price. Since we were staying two days in Lauderdale before our cruise I asked the person on the phone if they were near the good shopping centers since they were farther from the shore than other hotels on expedia. He […] told me they had a $5 shuttle service to the shopping centers. I found out, after we booked our room (of course) and were taken through the hood on the shuttle ride from the airport to the Rodeway Inn, that the $5 shuttle ride the guy told me was to a Winco shopping center. A trip to the shopping centers on the shore, the one tourists like me want to see, was $70!!!!! The guy obviously knew I wasn't asking about Winco when I called the Rodeway (how many tourists want to go to Winco on their vacation?!). He was purely dishonest to me on the phone. Also, I witnessed the manager at the front desk, who happened to be the guy who lied to me on the phone, being rude to other guests who were asking him simple questions and making small requests. He may be burned out on dealing with tourists but he needs to realize us tourists are why he has job. He is a bitter man. The restaurant at Rodeway is of poor quality. We recently stayed with the Rodeway Inn & Suites, Ft. Lauderdale Airport and Cruise Port for one night prior to an mid morning flight. We arrived late in the evening following a plane delay and not looking forward to waiting out the hotel shuttle. If you've ever been through FLL, you know that this can be a huge headache as most hotels don't seem to […] really care about the shuttle service. We called when we stepped into the terminal and upon arriving at the shuttle pick up location the driver was waiting for us with the van door open. We overhead other tourists discussing how jealous they were as they had been waiting over 45 minutes for the shuttle. We boarded and were immediately transported to the hotel. Check-in was fast, professional and friendly. Our room was clean, quiet and safe with appropriate amenities. We woke up, enjoyed a delicious continental breakfast, and received what I can only describe as "VIP" treatment in terms of the shuttle service, customer service, and overall demeanor of the entire hotel staff. The shuttle driver quickly delivered us to the terminal, assisted with a smile, and told us to enjoy our vacation. "Great PRICE-Now I know why!"
I was very excited about the deal that Expedia offered and how close in proximity the hotel was from the airport and expressways. However, the convenience was overshadowed by the filth of the floor in the room. I used to full size body towels to wet the floor and mop it as my socks quickly became dirty when I walked on the floor. I mopped your floors while on vacation with your towels and I am the one who caused the filth. The facilites were decent and the photographer really accentuated the decor as it was much different than what we entered into. I arrived early as my Expedia representative told me that the room may not be ready but we should check with the hotel. The lady at the front desk was curt in her response stating, "Well 11am is checkout there is no way a room will be ready." A simple, that will not be possible would have been suffice. We had to spend an additional night in FL. We decided to stay near the airport as we had a 9:45am flight. We booked through Expedia Mobile, quickly and easily, for a standard room with a king bed (my husband uses a CPAP and we need a king to avoid issues with the tubing). We arrived at the hotel around 8pm and after a wait in the chaotic lobby (looks […] like a truck stop) were given our room key. We were told to park on the side of the hotel as it is a fairly large place, but there were no spaces (they also offer park and fly/cruise packages so I am guessing this is where they park those cars). Ended up parked in front and walking back to our building/room. Got to the room to find 2 queens (tho I swear they were doubles). Back to the desk to be told they had no king rooms available. I showed them my confirmation for a king and was told there was nothing the could/would do and the room was non-refundable. I contacted Expedia, who contacted the hotel, and was told the same thing. We could take it or leave it, but they weren't refunding any of our money and they had no king rooms. I will not stay here again even though the room was clean and the location was convenient. "Good pre/post cruise motel"
We stayed here before and after our cruise. The airport shuttle picked us up about 10 minutes after we called and we were at the motel in another 10 minutes. The motel has a little gift shop were you can buy anything you have forgotten. They also sell beer and wine so you don't need to get a cab to go buy your wine to take aboard the cruise ship. The […] on site restaurant, The Reef, had great food and lots of football games on multiple tvs. The rooms are not fancy, but they are clean and the beds were comfortable. We just needed a place to stay before and after the cruise. They have the most organized cruise shuttle I have seen. Instead of signing up to leave at a certain time and then being in a shuttle van with others going to different cruise ships (which is what other places do), everyone comes to the lobby at the same time. You are then grouped by your cruise ship. Each shuttle carries passengers for only one cruise ship so they are able to go directly to your ship without having to stop at a number of other ships first. Last year it took us 1.5 hours to get to our ship because of all the stops. This year it took us less than 15 minutes. Pick up from our cruise was also very quick.
