"Friendly place and great breakfast"
This old Victorian house is beautifully restored and situated in the center of historic Vicksburg. The history of the house and the town is part of the atmosphere that makes this a most interesting stay. The proprietors are friendly and attentive. The breakfast is wonderful and there is a nice restaurant within easy walking distance for having dinner. […] The old neighborhood where this B&B is located is a bit mixed as in any old Southern town which still survives despite having seen 'better' days. We enjoyed the 'social hour' which provides for a welcome unwinding after a long drive. We wish we had more time to spend in this historic town and house but had to continue on to New Orleans. We hope to be back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My wife and I stayed at the Baer House Inn this weekend and absolutely loved it. Doug was very helpful and courteous and pleasant to converse with. We had an awesome time here and recommend it for anyone staying in Vicksburg.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"An historic stop in an historic town"
Lovely bed and breakfast in charming large home, the rooms are spacious and well decorated. The hosts are outstanding, helpful and excellent cooks. The Baer is centrally located, they have breakfasts and a five o'clock wine offering. If you want fresh towels daily, you need to say something (or hang up your towels to dry) as there is no room attention […] after you move in - a very minor thing in a very enjoyable stay. This location is infinitely preferable to the casino hotels in the area. Call if rooms appear filled; a space frequently opens up. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Bed & breakfast Baer House Inn"
Excellent stay, Very clean staff freindly and personal. Would recomend for anyone to stay while visting Vicksburg MSGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A great stay"

My husband and I found our way to this B&B at the last minute, and we were so glad we did. We liked everything about the Baer House Inn. It was a treat to stay in a house built in 1871 -- lovely woodwork, furniture and decorative touches -- and learn about its history from the owner (Doug). Our room was charming and comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious. In the evening prior to dinner, we enjoyed relaxed conversations over a glass of wine with Doug and the other guests. Doug was helpful and provided good advice about restaurants and attractions in the area. We would definitely stay here again.

It's always difficult to write a review when you haven't enjoyed a place nearly as much as everyone else seems to have done. It has to be acknowledged that the guy who owns the house tries really hard and obviously loves both his house and the town of Vicksburg. If you are interested in the American Civil War then Doug's your man. My husband is not able to eat gluten and Doug went to a lot of trouble to make him some special breakfast buns. Our problem was that we just didn't like the house. It is very big without being very attractive. We were extremely disappointed by the Leona room. It just felt ramshackle. The furniture is billed as antique but it was just old and not in very good condition. The room felt like it had been converted from an outhouse and the view from the window was onto a side passage in which bikes, kayaks and bits and pieces were stored. There was an odd electric fire in the room. I wouldn't have minded so much if the room hasn't been so expensive. I hate having to give poor reviews but I really wouldn't recommend this place.
"Gorgeous accommodations and friendly, accommodating staff"

Visited with a cousin, and our suite included two beautiful large bedrooms, antiques, a huge bath, and wonderfully comfortable beds. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The owner, Chris, is a font of information, a fabulous cook, and one of the nicest people we met on our trip. Definitely good for adults in Vicksburg for any reasons. Too many beautiful antiques to bring children.
"Beautiful B&B with Great Staff"

We stayed at the Baer House for a couple of nights while cycling the Nachez trace and visiting local civil war monuments. Our room (the Bonnie Blue Room) is at the front on the second floor at the front of the house and was really wonderful. Lots of charm, light and plenty of space (including a huge bay window area). There were several breakfast options each day with per-ordering the day before. All the breakfast options were very good and there was enough selection to keep everyone happy.

I met a girlfriend for a three night stay at the Baer House Inn and it couldn't have been more enjoyable! Excellent location in Vicksburg. Delightful breakfast each morning to begin our day of exploring Vicksburg. Owner/Inn keepers were very knowledgeable about the area and offered a wonderful resource notebook of suggested dining experiences. I stayed in the Tara room and my friend was in the Rhett room. Both were very comfortable and had full baths. Our reservations and accommodations were as promised. Absolutely NO hesitation to stay there again!

"Wonderful building, top quality hotel! "

This house is amazing and Doug is an excellent host! It's very good value for money for what you get: the rooms are lovely and well kept, the house itself is interesting, the breakfast was fantastic and Doug is an incredibly interesting person to talk to. Vicksburg itself is good to see, and worth stopping off at if you're travelling nearby.

This is a nice, lovely B&B. The owners are very helpful--know all the best places to eat and visit while you're in town, and are extremely informed about the Civil War. Great place for a history buff to stay!

The Baer House Inn is a beautiful house in Vicksburg. The rooms are very spacious and lovely decorated. We stayed in the Pineapple and the Rhett Room. Both very nice. Breakfast made by Arlita was very tasty and Arlita is a wonderful hostess who's interested and makes you feel at home. This is the place to stay in Vicksburg!
