"This is not a 4 or 5 rated hotel."
I enjoyed the views hwhile walking to the tram and Palomino Island. I was very disappointed with the pools that have a depth of 3' 6". The employees decided to clean during the day and asked guests to get up so they may clean and sweep stagnant water frim the rain. The rooms are outdated. The self-parking is mot paved and far from the hotel. The parking […] attendant is also the shuttle driver so if the gate to exit does not work, you have to wait for the parking attendant to return from his drive to the hotel. The restaurants are expensive and food is mediocre. Finally, if you are staying at Las Ollas or La Marina, you will walk alot. It can take 15 to 20 minutes to walk from the lobby to your room. Hotel was awesome!!! Only negative thing to say is that if your going to overcharge for drinks they should make it a good one!!! Being so precise on the amounts does not equal $15-$20!!! Give a little extra happiness!!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
We loved out stay but were sadly disappointed that my phone got stolen from the pool area. We mistakenly assumed that because it was such a nice hotel that we could trust the pool area to leave our bag unattended but were devastated to return and discover our phone stolen. Make the trip very difficult to mange after that because all of our information […] and pictures and info we needed for the remainder of the trip was on it. Anyway, other than that we loved the hotel and Palamino island was wonderful. Ladies bring flats...it's a huge facility so there's ALLOT ALLOT ALLOT of walking. "Could be so much more!"
We are a family of 4 and recently stayed at El Conquistador. The location is world class, the staff is amazing and very attentive...however, we kept having issues getting to the beach(which was also incredible) in their private Island. The facilities and the rooms are in need of an upgrade...definitely not to Waldorf Astoria standards. The Hotel didn't […] have many evening shows or activities. It is however a great destination for families. The waterpark and the pools were a plus and our kids loved them. Food was pretty good, we sampled most restaurants and though a bit pricey dining was a pretty good experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel on the mainland with a private island."
My experience was nice. Palomino Island is a treat, however a lifeguard should be provided. The pool areas are beautiful. Coqui water park is nice for the kids but needs more lifeguards. The food is okay but pricey. Needs better evening entertainment for families. It is a good place for getting away and relaxation during the day. The view is gorgeo […] us. "This was a nice hotel until now"
Arrival was a disaster, busy but no help at the counter check in takes an average 10-20 minutes per person. I even try Hilton Honor check in area and that was even worse. Valet parking employees not friendly at all, I try self-parking another disaster, to checkout of the parking area is process that you have to punch your parking ticket at counter every […] time you exit the hotel this could take 10-15 minutes or longer each time. Parking lot area needs a total reconstruction including reception area, too many potholes. For a Four/Five Start hotel this is a BIG disappointment. Again, nice location with so much to offer and do,, but so bad about poor management, conditions and attention to the infrastructure of the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Beautiful view of the lagoon and ocean from our room. Great accommodations. Palomino Island is amazing. Kids loved the hunt for the different colored bracelets in spots all over the hotel grounds, golf course and island.Genuine Expedia guest review
From the moment we arrived at the resort our experience was amazing! The beauty surrounding us was breathtaking. The room was trendy and comfortable. I was at the hotel with my husband and two adult children. There was something for all of us and we enjoyed our visit very much. The private island is nice but lines getting there and back were long. The hotel is large but other than the lines did not seem crowded.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Resort looks pretty, everything is overpriced- our room was dirty and the gym is disgusting not what pics describe!!! Will not go backGenuine Expedia guest review

We loved the stay at the hotel. Beautiful views, great location, nice and helpful staff, and clean room. Housekeeping was excellent. Everyone was friendly. We did however, have difficulty finding the hotel. Google maps and the GPS system were unable to pinpoint the location of the hotel. Best to ask for help or find it the old fashion way (a map).Genuine Expedia guest review
"Highly faceted hillside resort w/great ocean vista"
Extremely well appointed, & expansive, multi level hillside resort. A multitude of shops, resturants, pools, & a 1st class (small scale, but with huge features), water park. Food and parking very overpriced. Drinks expensive, breakfast for 2 ( 2 eggs, bacon, toast, potatoes, coffee) with tip $35.00. One drink in martini bar $12.00. One glass of house Wine (short pour) $10.00. "Resort Fee" $35.00 per day.......FOR WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!Genuine Expedia guest review

The resort is very grand and has a feel of exclusivity, but lacks modern amenities, customer service and options I would expect from a 4-start+ hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what it used to be"
I recently stayed there, after 7 years from my last visit. I was not impressed with the conditions of the hotel this time. The service at the bars is horrible. The employees were fighting with each other and were not courteous. The chairs in Palomino island and by the pools were dirty and not at the level of an Astoria Hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Plenty of things to do."
The Hotel just needs to be updated. The view is beautiful and the island is really clean. Food is just ok, but for the amount they charge it could have been better. When I got my bill there was a $41.97 additional resort fee added to each day I was there and they just said it was taxes because I booked it thru expedia??? Puerto Rico is a beautiful island […] and no one should be afraid to got there. Everyone outside the resort was friendly and the rain forest and ziplining were fantastic trips. The elevator was hot and slow so we took the stairs everyday. We had a great ocean view, but the bathroom was just dirty. Needs to be retiled. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not a waldorf Astoria class ."
Great grounds but not Waldorf Astoria class. It is really a glorified Gray Wolf Lodge. People check in to facility as two people but as iI have witnessed more the 4 addults and up to four children in one room. Some people have special rates of $99 a night and enjoy the same facility as others paying 4 times as much. "Stayed for 3 days in June"
The hotel is very big. From the parking you wait for a shuttle to take you to the lobby. Considering that the hotel doesn't have it's own beach it got frustrated that check in starts at 4pm and last ferry leaving to the island where the beach is is 5.30p. By the time we got ready to the beach and got out and made it all the way to the ferry- found out […] that it was 5.40p and couldn't try the beach at all the first day. However during the check out we were charged about 40$/day for the ferry to the beach and around $20/day for the parking which was really strange since we didn't use any valley. The hotel has a lot of restaurants on site, very fancy and pricy. I would say it's nice when you come with a family and plan to spend a lot of time in the hotel but if you are young and going to leave in the morning for activities and come back at night,- it's not worth the money. "OK, not great"
The hotel was ok, but did not have any good night events like dancing or adult activity events.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It is deserved for your trip definitely. It is nestled on the top of a hill with a large area for golf and a matchless ocean view at both sides, the more fantastic is it has its personal deck and island, the guests can board on and play in the island totally free, meantime it has complete facilities for guests. To be honest we were very regretable for […] only one-day stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Doesn't meet our expectations"
Overall I should say the Hotel didnt meet our expectations. It is bit expensive hotel compared to others and you expect to get the money experience you have paid for this. I should appreciate the hospitality of the staff as they are very nice and I never saw such a Friendly staff in any other resorts. But coming to the room, the ocean view room sucks […] as it was facing the ship dock yard with oil spills. Moreover there was water leaking from the AC and the coffee cups were broken. I liked the thing you can have any charge to your room just showing the access card that you get during your check-in. The problem is all during the check-out as you will not get your car out because you have not shown your check out receipt. Overall i Should as good are the staff it should also amend the same for the facilities on resort. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Staff should be more polite and professional"
Overall, El Conquistador is a good resort. A lot of the facilities and buildings look a bit dated, all of which could be overlooked had the staff been a bit friendlier. There are no vending machines and no stores stay open until late. After checking in the hotel after 1:00 AM, it was impossible to find any drinking water, especially since there weren't […] any stocked up in our fridge. To my dismay, I had to walk all the way back over to the front desk to ask for water. (My was right by the ocean so it took me a good 10-15 minutes to get back to lobby of the hotel). Fine dining restaurants were overpriced but the service was great. I remember Jose from Chops Steakhouse being an excellent host on our last night. Other venues had questionable service; particularly the hostesses at bar twenty one? I don't recall the name of the bar, but they were quite rude and unprofessional. If you're not someone that's too picky about the aesthetics and don't mind paying a premium for food during your stay, this is a good resort for you. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We had a great time at this place. The food is pricy and "not" typical Puerto Rican food. I grew up in PR. I only get back every 2 or 3 years so I want lots of local food. "Not at all what I expected"
This place was not at all what I'd expected. Its nice enough just not worth the money spent in my opinion. Get ready to pay extra for EVERYTHING! A bottle of water runs you $4.00! The food was mediocre, the staff was hit or miss, the self-parking shuttle comes when it pleases, my list goes on and on. The hotel was not kept top notch yet they wish to […] charge top notch prices. I was looking forward to staying at las casitas in the near future but am not wasting my time or energy, I'll go to Mexico or Punta Cana. My review for you searching for a hotel: don't bother there are plenty of other hotels in Puerto Rico not only cheaper but more hospitable and less sneaky with the side charges. "probably won't return"
Staff was wonderful and so very very kind but service was incredibly slow. We requested a room change on morning after arrival (las brisas section of hotel was what I imagine a bad cruise ship experience to be like) and the woman who helped us at 7:30am was incredibly helpful, wonderful and accommodating and said the room would be ready by 8:30/9am […] as no one was in it. I could not have been more grateful, but we checked in hourly from 8:30am-on however room was not ready until 4:30pm (!!) so we burned an entire day milling about with our packed luggage by the pool and lobby. New room in Las Vistas was absolutely wonderful but our room keys had to be reprogrammed every afternoon as they would just stop working (10+ min walk to the lobby from all rooms). Toilet ran uncontrollably and spurting water and extremely loud (woke us up at 6am and prob neighbors): 3 phone calls, the use of the word "emergency", and an hour later maintenance showed up and prob was fixed. Beach (private island) was absolutely gorgeous and extremely memorable but a pain to get to. Long walk behind slow crowds with kids, a few elevators, stairs, a tram and a boat ride take about 45 mins room-to-beach. Thankfully we were there during a very quiet week otherwise the whole resort would have been unbearable and slow beyond imagination. While the villas and las vistas area and spa/gym are incredibly luxurious, the rest of the resort lacks sophistication. Do not expect luxury unless you stick to the spa, gym and your hotel room. Las Vistas had a lovely outdoor vibe with tree frogs at night and nice lighted path. We enjoyed this area very much. Don't forget they charge for parking. Worth it to get a car to go off-site though for more colorful dining experiences. "Farjado, Puerto Rico - AMAZING!"
We stayed at El Conquistador for 7 nights beginning April 18, 2014. We read many mixed reviews about the place so were weren't sure what to expect. This is definitely a hotel for families. Singles or couples without kids should not expect to enjoy this vacation especially during school holidays and high season. The King room we stayed in had a great […] ocean view. It was in need of a facelift but was comfortable enough for us. Housekeeping was quick to open the sleeper sofa and set up linens for us. The room, sheets, towels and the entire hotel were VERY CLEAN. There were a lot of restaurants to choose from although healthy choices were hard to find and everything is NYC prices. The private beach island (Palomino) is absolutely amazing! Breathtaking!! Plenty of choices for sun or shade and the water is spectacular. Other reviewers complained of having to ferry to the beach but we didn't mind the 7 minute ride that was avail to and from the beach every half hour. The water park located on property is small but was fabulous for our 10 year old. Annoying that hotel guests have to pay $20 pp for all day entrance 10-530P. At least one day should be included with room.Note that you pay $5 to enter from 4-530. The hotel pools and Jacuzzis are very nice and well kept. Service at the beach, water park and pools is slow-waiters not proactive about taking orders for drinks and foods. Restaurant service for dinners was pretty good. Our favorite restaurant was Stingray Café. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
