This is a wonderful hotel in a nice residential neighborhood. The room was clean and lovely. The bed was very comfortable. It was peaceful and quiet. But above all the front desk staff were kind and helpful. I informed the night man I was going to run a marathon in Naragansett the next day. He moved the breakfast time up so I could eat prior to leaving […] the hotel. He gave us an extended check out time so I could return to the hotel and shower. Delightful well maintained room. Spaceous room with continental breakfast that was well stocked with nice variety. Hotel was on Newport town line close to tmansions and other tourist attractions. Comfortable beds. Our room had two queen size beds. Front desk manager recommended "Benjamins" restaurant in Newport and the food there was reasonably priced […] and nicely prepared. We were there to see the UCONN women BB team beat Kentucky-Go Huskies! URI Kingston is a half hour drive away. Definitely would recommend staying here. Read more

Checked in on a Saturday evening and checked out on Sunday. My room was large and comfortable with a refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom was also quite large with all the necessities. The breakfast was very good and the service was excellent. Thanks Harry and staff!

The Carriage House Inn was a delightful small hotel just outside of town. The front desk personnel were very helpful and friendly. The room was simple, but very clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel , and will be back myself when in the area.

This Inn was very convenient to Newport -- above the town in Middletown but only about 1.5 miles from Thames St. The staff was very accommodating, and helpful in planning our evening. Continental breakfast was good (coffee was excellent!). Recommended.

We stayed here for one night for a wedding. The hotel is located in what seems like the middle of a neighborhood so you have to drive to get to downtown Newport. But the staff was very friendly, the room was clean, and the free breakfast was great! I would stay here again.

What a fabulous find! The location was excellent - just a 5 minute drive from downtown Newport. It doesn't look fancy on the exterior, but our room was huge (2 queen beds) and it was all spotlessly clean. The beds were extremely comfortable. The reception staff were mostly retired age, which was great, but they weren't overly friendly (except one man […] who was super). The breakfast (included) was better than average. We stayed at the Carrage House for a night on the way to Cape Cod on Sunday 8/14. It'a a nice bed and breakfast sort of place, an old house made in to an inn. Our room was upstairs, they do have an elevator, but it's in back and a long walk around from the front desk. Room was clean as was the bathroom. In the morning, after being out for a few hours […] and getting ready for check out we noticed the bed was soaking wet. The sprinkler fitting above the bed was leaking! Not sure if it was all the rain causing it or the plunbing. Glad it didn't happen overnight while we were sleeping.. Breakfast was good, lots things to choose from. Read more

This was such a last minute overnight stay on the way to beach. My daughter chose it and we were so pleasantly surprised by the quaintness of the inn. It was exactly 7 min from Newport. Here is a quick summary of issues... - Hair dryer not working (minor) - Caulking of the tub was filled with black mold - Door to the bathroom stuck at 2/3 open - Mattresses were too soft and sunk way down - Not enough chairs in the breakfast area. We stayed at the Inn for a family get-together, taking three rooms. The rooms were spacious and clean, with very comfortable beds. Front-desk service was friendly and helpful. Warm cider in the afternoon. Very pleasant experience.

This hotel is just a couple minutes from downtown Newport. The room looks just like the pictures-it is fairly small, but very nice. The staff was very helpful. There was a decent complimentary breakfast. This is a great place, especially for the value- much cheaper than staying downtown.

Had a very nice stay. The room had nice high ceilings and was very spacious with a micro and fridge. We were just staying the night on the way to Block Island, RI (about a 35 min drive to ferry). Be cautious when they recommends the Atlantic Beach Club as a "family friendly restaurant"...we went there under his recommendation with a 1 year old (additionally, […] they apparently own the restaurant) and it was NOT family friendly....more like Spring Break outside and piano lounge inside...we started out outside and had to move inside, where we were by far the only ones with a kid. This hotel was in a great location. close to all the main attractions of Newport and was in a nice quiet location. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Continental breakfast included and free wifi. I would definately stay here again.

This Hotel was OK . A bit out of date and the morning breakfast room could have used a sprucing up. The tablecloths were cheap and not well maintained. A little TLC would go along way. The 3rd day of our stay we discoved the lock on our door was not working.(not sure for how long) The lady at the front desk was very helpful and moved us to another room […] as there was no one on hand to fix the lock at that time. The second room we moved to had a hole in the closet door and the bathroom sink was very slow the drain. When booking out the next morning the genleman at the desk who we believe was the manager did not even mention our previous days problem and seemed quite uninterested when we mentioned it to him. We did not expect any thing for this but he could have at least apoligized for the inconvience of having to pack up our things and move at 4.30pm on a Friday afternoon. This is a charming inn and is located in a safe area. Service was good. The continental breakfast had a lot of variety - cereals, boiled eggs, egg&sausage muffins, fruit etc. The service was good.The room was large 1 king +1 sleeper/sofa + fridge, +microwave. The TV was placed at an awkward angle that wasn't easy to watch from the bed. The elevator […] is towards the back of the hotel and requires pressing the required floor at each level. While the room was clean, the carpet on the stairs leading up to the room was quite dirty. The bed was comfortable, however the sheets and comforter were stiff. Sofa and chair upholstery is made from very durable fabric (but is't as comfortable). The star rating of this hotel is a 2.5. Overall good value for money. Read more

This hotel is well located, just outside Newport, RI, but only a 5-10 minute drive away from Newport centre, in a quiet residential area. The receptionists we dealt with were all very polite, friendly and helpful, and the room was comfortable, clean and large enough without being huge. The only thing that let the place down was the unusual breakfast […] arrangement. At check-in we were given a slip of paper and asked to mark our breakfast preferences on it and drop it back to reception and the breakfast would be delivered to the room in the morning. The choice is very limited. Drinks are either apple juice or orange juice (there are facilities to make tea or coffee in the room though). To eat we could choose from either a breakfast roll, or a yogurt and a muffin, or a piece of coffee cake. My husband chose the breakfast roll the first morning but found it inedible. The second day we went for one yogurt+muffin and one coffee cake, but only got one yogurt and one coffee cake. Either way, we ended up going out for proper breakfast afterwards. It appears the hotel used to offer a buffet breakfast in the past. If that can't be reinstated, personally we'd have preferred a slightly cheaper rate and a room-only basis. Read more
