Nice little hotel in downtown. Rooms are a bit small but clean and comfy. Recommended.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cute room, but wouldnt stay there again."
The showers had no door, which allowed water to splash all over the bathroom floor. Room overall was well kept. Mattress was worn down.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Sofia Hotel"
The Sofia Hotel was a great place to stay. A fairly easy walk to the convention center, gas lamp district, and other hotels. It has a nice gym including a yoga room. The complimentary bottles of water and coffee in the room were a nice change from most hotels' $4 water!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best Hotel Gym"
I stay at the Sofia Hotel 5 to 6 times a year when I'm in town on business. It's a great hotel. The staff is extremely welcoming and nice. The Sofia has the best hotel gym in the area. (I've stayed in 3 or 4 other hotels near by). The rooms are on the small side, but are extremely comfortable and cozy. You get 2 free bottles of water, coffee, and Wifi […] in the rooms. The Wifi is spotty the higher up you go in the hotel. Overall, it's a great value and would highly recommend. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Who could have asked for more!!!"
My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at this luxurious hotel. I only wish it had an indoor pool. The hotel is surrounded by everything you could possibly need and want, so there is no need for a rental. And to top everything off, this hotel gives you free bike rentals with your stay! "Sofia hotel - I give it a Thumbs Up!"
hotel was nice and in perfect location to the Horton Mall, restaurants, several blocks from Gaslamp and the opposite way several blocks to waterfront! there were a lot of homeless people in and around the hotel but i never felt unsafe. the walls were a little thin and I was close to the elevator so I heard people coming down the hall all night. the […] staff was very pleasant and the concierge was very helpful! they also provide a FREE walking tour which was awesome as well as FREE yoga. plus the restaurant attached was AMAZING!!! "Cute but NEEDS Free Parking"
The parking was VERY pricey either at a lot next door OR at the Hotel valet. The hotel room I was in was VERY dusty!!! The neighborhood was beautiful with lots of things to do! It is a very cute hotel but the rooms were SO small. Maybe good for one person comfortably. The staff was very helpful and smiled all the time! i love people that love their job! "Wonderful boutique hotel in DT San Diego"
Very nice boutique and historic hotel right in Downtown San Diego; the area can be a little sketchy at night (with homeless around) - but it's very close to the Horton Plaza shopping districtGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Amazing Boutique Hotel/Surprising Luxury"
Fabulous boutique hôtel in downtown San Diego just steps from Horton Plaza as well as Gas Lamp. Rooms are compact but amazingly and thoughtfully designed to be both super functional as well as luxurious. Honestly, the luxury level is higher than some chain high end brands. Rates are often very low (depending on what's happening in downtown SD) and probably […] because it's a boutique (and not part of an awards program) ….. what a treasure! "5 days in SD"
I stayed for 5 days. While the room is small, hey it's San Diego and you shouldn't be in your room much. Saw posts on elevator; while they're also small, didn't have a problem with them. Only reason I didn't give a "5" on Service and cleanliness is the maids forgot to clean my room on the last day.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice hotel in a great location just wish the rooms were bigger.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming and pet friendly"
Perfect location amd very pet friendly. Staff was really professional and for an older building it has been kept well maintained. Make sure to read the "what you need to know" and "fee" sections. Hope to stay here again soon.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Outrageous Parking Fees and Small Rooms!"
No room service for starters. Outrageous parking fees that could equal to another night stay at another hotel.(three day stay for parking equals $80) No alternative parking...rooms are small too. I asked for a bigger room...got down graded.when to the business center to print something...their copier was broken. The ice machines were not located on every […] floor as well and vending machines too. I was told afterI was in my PJs they were just on odd floors of the hotel. In short I will never stay here again.I don't know who gave them all those awards for excellence but they were wrong in my book. Came to stay for the weekend for my boyfriends birthday. Everything went great but on the side of the bed that I was sleeping on, the floor smelt of vomit from a previous guest. Other than that everything was perfect!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bang for your buck!"
Great room for the price! If you are driving down, parking can be pricey at $34/night but at least it's a convenient valet service. Nice historical building. Don't expect A spacey room unless you paid for it. Highly recommend opting for a city view room for a nice view.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent Hotel! Parking was a little expensive but other than that no complaints.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good basic hotel."
I picked this hotel due to its proximity to my business meeting. The room was a little run down with a broken window shade, some trash left behind, hair in the shower. But I would generally call it clean and well appointed. The best was the most comfortable I've slept in in a long time. My breakfast in the morning was a joke - bad food (potatoes were […] airport quality; provided almond milk for my tea [I drink almond milk but weird!]), bad service (no condiments provided, took my plate before done). I would stay here again for convenience and great bed but will eat elsewhere. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Stay in San Diego at Sofia Hotel"
In general the courtesy and the help we got was great. However we asked for a wake-up call for 4:30AM and it never came in. The hair dryer was not working at all. The shower had no drainage cap, it was a big hole with no end in sight a 4 inches hole in the middle of the shower. THe concierge and receptionist were helpful and courteous. Bed was very confortable […] with plenty of amenities. Water and coffee was great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Amazing hotel; hidden gem"
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel. Very nice rooms, with all kinds of facilities, and even free yoga classes! The bed was very comfortable, and the hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. Amazing value for money compared to other hotels in the neighborhood. Would definitely stay there when I am San Diego next time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I won't go back to this hotel"
Some of the rooms, including mine, face another building only a few feet away. Can't have the curtain open freely. It's basically facing an alley way. Since it's an old historical building, the walls are not sound proof even though they've remodeled, and the I guess the furniture positioning have not been done well because I could hear next room's TV […] sound right behind our bed headboard. The rooms should have been furnished mirrored, not identically. Shower- The glass wall is covering only half of the shower booth with no door, and it's too close to the toilet, close enough to splash all water to the where your feet would be when you use the toilet. Bathroom floor gets all wet, you need to put towel there after. If it wasn't for the sale price and reward night, I would have never booked it. Pros- Good location to very nice bars around, nice crews Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Gaslamp Quarter and Horton Plaza"
My wife and I spent 2 nights. The hotel is within a short walk to the Horton Plaza and the Gaslamp Quarter. We visited The Balboa Park which is a 10 minutes' drive. The Park is a must-see. There is a 7-Eleven store half block away from the hotel. The room was comfortable except my wife complained about the pillow being too thick. The shower could use […] a little more pressure. We enjoyed our stay. It would be nice if there is coffee in the lobby. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was a quick overnight stop for us en route to Hawaii. We both highly enjoyed the hotel and enjoyed even more the location. I would definitely recommend this hotel to any and all.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Always a nice stay here. Friendly staff and attentive. Rooms are small, but cozy and workable. Only negative are tacked on fees for amenities and 34.00 nightly parking, which is close to other lot pricing. Also, you will hear sirens all night long, so drink a lot before bed, or take a strong sleep pill with a good loud noise static noise maker. It's […] the Gaslamp area, so hotels in this area will all experience this if you are right on the edge of the entertainment district. I knew this ahead of time and planned for it. I really love this nice and cute hotel! I will def recommended . And I loved that is very close from downtown ! Parking behind the hotel !!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great little hotel...good location, a little loud at times though with all of the riffraff of the city. My girlfriend and I just went for the weekend and wanted to explore gas lamp and surrounding areas. A lot of what we wanted to see was either a short walk or drive away. The only thing that I can truly gripe about is the parking situation. At 34 dollars […] a day, it gets a bit pricey...paying for a place for my car to sit unattended is my biggest pet peeve...I absolutely hate it. I didn't have the patience to go find something cheaper, but I'm sure its out there. Other than that, I would recommend this place to a friend looking for an affordable but fun little hotel. PS the burger from the hotel restaurant was pretty darn good. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location, walking distance from many popular places in the Gaslamp area. The hotel bathroom is a little smaller than we would have liked, but overall it the hotel room was very well kept. "Nice hotel downtown"
For staying downtown San Diego, I loved the location of this hotel. Easy to get to and walking dististance to everythig. Short walk to the train station. Room size was small/euriopean sized.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Parking arrangements caught me off guard - valet parking $34 a day.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Sofia/Christmas day Harbor cruise."
A very nice stay at the Sofia in San Diego. We sent to San Diego for Christmas and nice hotel. It is older but was renovated so the rooms are very nice but small. Took a harbor cruise and the hotel is within walking distance of the Harbor. We used Valet parking as the hotel has no free parking and very limited free parking in the area. The current Restaurant […] in the hotel is higher end and very good. Lots of homeless in the area but we were not bothered by them. Within walking distance of grocery/convenience store and felt safe walking it. Would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place for a couple"
It was a perfect getaway for my boyfriend and I. The room was small, but we didn't need it to be very big as we were out for most of the day. The bathroom was very nice with a rainfall shower head. The bed was big and comfortable. My boyfriend did accidentally leave his laptop on the desk, but housekeeping turned it in and he got it back quickly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Tiny room, hidden charges, nice location"
The staff wasn't too pleasant when we got there. They made check-in incredibly difficult because there is no where to park, so someone must wait in the car while someone checks in and we had to keep running back and forth between the car? When we got to the room it was VERY small. It had a nice book shelf and dresser that took up a ton of space. I am […] no interior designer, but NO place to walk in the room was more than a 1.5 foot wide corridor. Very small. The shower was fancy, bathroom was fancy, "City View" room means you get to look at a big office building. It was breath taking. So the price said i was getting the room for $109, but it was actually $130 after taxes and the hotel charges an additional $8.95, so we basically paid $140. I would have stayed somewhere else for that price. Hey the room came with 2 free bottles of water! ($2 value) I will say the location is great, gas lamp is at your finger tips, but parking was $35 valet at the hotel, i took my car down the block for $20 overnight parking. The room was beautiful and the location couldn't have been better. Parking options weren't the best but the valets certainly make the cost worth it. It was also beautifully decorated for Christmas. I would stay at The Sofia again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very good quality, great location, and friendly"
I am usually more thrifty with hotel rooms, but I paid a bit more for this room and was completely satisfied. The only foreseeable disadvantage to this room was it being a little small, but not absolutely cramped for 2 people with 2 queen beds. Oh, and don't purchase the wine provided in the room (seems logical, but we opened it anyway) and it was expectably […] terrible. Very good quality, great location, and friendly staff. FREE bicycles and helmets provided to explore the city too! First come, first serve basis. I also highly recommend a 5 block walk to Cafe 222 for breakfast. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
