The location of the hotel was very convinient because it is very close to the Union Square and the Chinatown. The hotel itself is very small, the rooms are small too. However, it is clean and cozy. The hotel did not have a free parking, which this website does not notify anywhere before booking. Please pay attention to the availability of parking before booking. We had to pay big bucks for per day parking space, and one of the reasons is that the location of the hotel is in downtown. But if we wouldve known earlier we would not get that hotel because we ended up paying way much more than expected. Hotel has a business and a fitness center, no pool, slow wi-fi. Overall it is a good hotel if you are staying for couple of days, if longer Ide suggest getting something else. Thank You

I really liked this hotel. The bathroom was nice and roomy. The bed was very comfortable and the alarm clock was able to play from an iPOD which was really nice. The view was bad but that didn't detract from the really comfortable feel of the room and great service at the hotel. The hotel is 1/2 a block from the entrance to Chinatown, we walked to Pier 39 and it's a short drive to Monster Park, home of the 49ers. Great location, great service, great bed - don't need anything else.

We have stayed at the Orchard Garden twice, each time for just one night. It's a small property - maybe 80 rooms - but it is very modern, attractively decorated, reasonably priced and it's in a great location. The room that we've stayed in each time was small, but comfortable for two people and the bathroom was large. Large flat-screen television with DVD player, an alarm clock/iPod dock, free WiFi - all the amenities I look for in a good hotel room. Excellent bed, linens and towels. The San Francisco Chronicle is delivered each morning instead of the awful USA Today. Very friendly and accommodating staff and a nice bar and restaurant on the ground floor. Highly recommended!

The hotel was great, but the check in experience was not so great. I had made reservations for a room with a king size bed at the Orchard Garden Hotel. I phoned earlier the day of check-in to confirm that I had a reservation there and was assured I did. When I arrived at 8:30 that evening, the valet asked my name and then told me to wait in my car. He came back and told me the hotel had overbooked and I was to go to their sister hotel just 3 blocks UP the hill. I did not want to go to that hotel up the hill! After the manager tried to bribe me with a free breakfast, he finally admitted there were rooms with two double beds and I took it. I don't like the fact that I was switched to another hotel after I confirmed my reservation.

This hotel is about 7 steps from the Gate to Chinatown. Staff was friendly without being overly so. Room a bit small, but the bed was scarily comfortable. I heard no outside noises, and I am a very light sleeper. I would highly recommend staying here for business or pleasure. Took the San Francisco Movie Tour and will also be writing a rave review for them. Got to learn about SF as well as see movie clips as we drove around. Far East Cafe was within easy walking distance and a great sit-down dinner.

I usually keep my filters at price under $125 and user rating above 4 stars. Needless to say in SF on a Friday night, looking for somewhere to stay on the day of didnt net too many results. I had 4 options three of which were 2 star hotels, and then there was Orchard Garden... This place is everything the other reviewers stated, I did notice someone said their bed was a bit too firm, but both the beds in our room were super comfy! Next time I head to SF, I'll be checking this hotel first!

This hotel was something of a find. We booked on line after looking at the web site of the hotel itself and comparing it to others in the location. The hotel is not a super larger luxury five star place with huge parking facilities, pools, saunas, enormous neoclassical columns etc; if you want that kind of thing then the Westin St. Francis is going to be more your kind of place. However the hotel is modern, clean, has enough facilities for a city visitor, has a fantastic restaurant (best food I ate during my holiday in California) and is superbly located. The rooms themselves are clean, nicely decorated, have a mini bar and also have well appointed bathrooms with lovely toiletries. The beds are very large and comfortable and though compact the rooms don't feel small. There is a fitness room (with a very limited number of machines, but nevertheless it's there) and a free business centre (although someone needs to update the software on the PCs) and both of these are complementary. The highlights of the Orchard Garden are it's location, restaurant and overall feel. TIP: Eat in the Roots restaurant at least one evening during your stay.

Really did like staying at the Orchard Garden during our 4 night stay. Within walking distance to lots of San Francisco. Hotel staff was outstanding and we got a room on the 8th floor, rear of the building and it was very quiet. Super clean room and I liked the idea that every time I left the room the lights and AC shut down to save engery. One dissapointment tho. Many of the reviews described what a wonderful nights sleep they got at the hotel. Yes the linens and comforter were very nice but the mattress was about as hard as the floor. Even my wife who likes a firmer than firm mattress said it was hard. Other than that this was a outstanding hotel.

Our number one reason for staying at the Orchard Garden was its commitment to being environmentally friendly. We really liked the simple things they've done to save energy like requiring you to put your keycards in a slot to turn on the lights, so you don't forget to turn them out on your way out of the room. The room was very large, and the linens were incredibly comfortable. The room in general was great. The location of the hotel was very convenient, especially since we were travelling by public transportation and there's a BART station only a few blocks away. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend the hotel to others.

The price and location for this hotel was great for budget travel to San Francisco. The doormen and front desk were always pleasant and helpful with directions. The room was small and basic. Clean with a comfortable bed. There were several minor irritations with this hotel that added up when dealt with day after day. Forget about the "spacious rooftop patio" it's just a windy concrete slab with no view and metal chairs. Housekeeping kept forgetting washcloths and conditioner. The hotel is "green" so you re-use your towels. That's fine except housekeeping would fold them instead of letting them hang which meant that you had a wet towel when you wanted to use it again. The temperature was difficult to regulate, the room was not vacuumed daily. None of these things are awful, just annoying. But the price was right for the location if you're on a budget.
