Orchard Garden Hotel - San Francisco

We thoroughly enjoyed the service provided by the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. The food and service of the restaurant were outstanding. We will definitely recommend the Orchard Garden Hotel to friends and family.

Hotel was very modern, clean and comfortable, and good location. If that is all you need you won't go wrong here. Room was small, but bathroom larger. It was almost too quiet and lacked the excitement of larger hotels. If walking is an issue, you can easily get to your room without a long walk as it is a small hotel - fully accessible, it seems. It was our 13th years wedding anniversary so we decided to go to the city, we had an amazing time. We were very impressed of this hotel very clean, so convenient and also walking distance to Union Square and other known nearby streets, hotel staff were very helpful, we would definitely want to go back.

Great hotel, and right in the middle of everything! Bed especially comfortable and my husband and I are extremely picky about beds; Eco-friendly which added to a very nice stay.

The wife and I have never stayed at an eco-friendly hotel so we were a little worried when we first checked in. The accommodations were incredible and the room was very nice. We did have a issues, mostly to do with the surrounding area. The view from the room wasn't great because we were staring into the neighboring alley. Parking in this area is terrible […] at best. I was told that all the hotels in the area share a parking garage and if you choose valet then expect to pay ~$46 a day to do so. Alternately you can park on the street or self park in the public garage up the street for about $30 a day.This should be figured into your travel plans because if you stay for more than a few days parking can get really expensive. Also like most hotels expect to pay a premium for everything in the room. Even the first-aid kit had a price tag on it. The hotel is very closely located to MANY attractions nearby so if you are planning on staying for awhile you are better off "cabbing" it everywhere or walking. All in all it was a great experience and I would definitely stay in this area again. On a final note since it is an eco hotel run your hot water for a bit when you first get up to the room as it will take awhile to get up to bathe-able temperatures. Read more

I live in SF but booked this hotel for when my mother & sister came to visit. It's 7 blocks from my apartment, but I ended up staying there most of the nights with them anyway. The hotel was super accommodating -- my mom got in much earlier than she had planned to and they not only let her check in 5 hours early BUT they also UPGRADED her room (for […] no charge)!! The rooms were clean and the hotel is a green hotel, which is really cool (& pretty typical for SF but I'm sure not nearly as many hotels are really up on it). They didn't have compost bins in the rooms though, which I thought was odd. One of the coolest features is how they control the electricity. When you enter the room, you have to put your room key in a holder (for lack of a better term) next to the front door to turn the lights and AC/heat on. Not only does this help cut out unnecessary use of those things, but it also reminds you to grab your key before you leave! (FYI, once the key is in, you can manually control the lights and AC too). Mom thought the beds were very comfortable, I thought they were fine. No complaints but nothing amazing. The room was a little small (2 double beds) but was fine for us. Location wise, you're on the border of Chinatown, Union Square, Nob Hill, and the Financial District. It is close to lots of major MUNI routes (bus, train, trolley) and it's easy to get everywhere from here which is always really nice when you're visiting. I wasn't around for checkout but I assume it was a breeze and they even got my family a town car for the same price as a cab to the airport, which they were grateful for. Staff was friendly, restaurant/bar area looked nice but we didn't spend any time there. Bathroom had a really cool sliding door but no lock ... odd. Overall, it was the perfect place for them to stay and I would recommend it to anyone coming to visit this incredible city by the bay. Read more

Great place to stay in San Francisco. Rooms are small but very clean and modern. They have a very cute roof garden on top of the hotel with some very nice views of the City. The food the Hotel's Roots restaurant is absolutely fantastic. Their 1099 menu also made it affordable to eat there. The location was perfect for us. Close to Union Square, Theatre […] District, China town, and North Beach. Parking was a bit pricey. But just a block down the street is a City run parking garage for 1/2 the price if you want to save some money. Read more

Loved staying in LEED certified hotel. Very nice room, friendly staff. Will definitely stay there again.

The front desk and room service staff were very professional and attentive. The room is very nice - very comfy bed. The room was pretty small but that was the only downside. I would definately stay there again.

One of the best hotels I've stayed in in SF (and I've stayed in many). Did not use anything but the room, but the room was beautifully done, the beds were beyond luxurious and comfortable, and the bathroom was huge and first class. The only catch is that we got a last-minute reservation at way below their 'normal' rates. The hotel is beautiful, convenient, very clean, and as a bonus — eco-friendly. At check-in I learned that the hotel was the first LEED certified hotel in San Francisco. It wasn't originally a condition for me booking the room, but after an excellent stay it will definitely bring me back.

I've stayed in nearly two dozen different hotels in the union square area and the Orchard Garden is a great value. Nice location. Very clean and quiet. No complaints about the room. I also appreciate their "green" approach. Very helpful staff. I left my phone charger in the room and called a few days later. The staff got right on it and dropped it in […] the mail for me. SO HELPFUL. The hotel is on the small side, so it may not have all the amenities of some of the larger chains, but if you want a nice room, it'll work. It just depends what you are looking for. The Orchard Garden is a lovely hotel. All the way from reception through the hallways, elevator, and the room, it is spotlessly clean and decadently designed. While it is near many tourist hotspots in the city, it is far enough away to be near a couple of shady areas. On the whole,hotel was nice. View from room is other buildings. Personnel were generally very nice. My husband and I had the King bed. Bed very comfortable, soft. Beautiful, new, and well thought out rooms and amenities. The service was absolutely the best - really 5 star. Highly recommend.

The only issue I had was that they chaged me for consuming something at the mini bar and I make it a point to never touch anything there, all the items there are so overpriced. It was so good! They didnt have a room with 2 beds for us so they upgraded us and moved our stuff for us into a room with 2 beds the next night. They were so nice, The hotel is gorgeous! Rooms are very clean and new and just over all nice. I will DEF be back!

The hotel is conveniently located in Union Square, however it has declined in quality, service, and cleanliness since we stayed there last a couple years ago. Maybe there has been a change in management. It seems like the hotel could use a freshening up and an upgrading in overall ambiance.

We planned a stay at the last minute to string together the Orchid show, shopping and a few great meals. The Orchard Garden is so conveniently surrounded by restaurants so we tried B44, a Catalan venue on Belden Place. By early evening, I was happy to crawl into bed, beginning to stagger with head cold symptoms. I loved the Orchard Garden Hotel. The rooms were a bit on the small size but very comfy beds and I huge bathroom. Everything very new and updated. In an excellent location. Literally right next to the entrance of China town , and a short walk to Union Square. Lots of shopping , bars , and places to eat near by. The staff was super helpful. clean, affordable, close to everything I needed, environmentally friendly and great veiws from the roof terrace, right next to chinatown and a few blocks from italian section. I would stay again and recommend to anyone.

Very clean rooms and very friendly staff and close to all the locations.

Staff were great and location right at the Chinatown Gate is fantastic. Just make sure to get something better than the "Standard" room. Totally weird layout, long and narrow and claustrophobic, with a couch looking directly into a blank wall, ugly view out the window, etc. Fung Shui was definitely a problem!

The hotel was clean, well managed and the staff was great. The room was nice, spacious for San Francisco, and had all the amenities - tv is in a weird spot but usable. This place its awesome , small room but very comfy and clean the only bad thing its having to pay for parking $45 dollars a Day. But even the Valet parking people was really nice to us. Love it , we are definatly staying here again!!!!

Excellent location; right next to the entry to Chinatown..very clean aesthetically; rooms were simple but grew on you; bed was excellent..best hotel room bed I ever slept in..would stay again easily especially if needed to be close to Union Sq..

Great service from the hotel manager, very nice and accomodating-upgrade us for free to a Jr Suite. The Bartender was great and very friendly. The staff provided up with great advice for parking, dinner restaurants and bars. The room was really clean and cute, pretty spacious.
