I have stay in this hotel before, but this time was not happy at all. Room was giving way to noisy from traffic and people, and also plumbing on toilet. Didn't work well and staff was notified and apparently they said they fixed it, but was the same. Wifi never worked...

Well driving to the hotel was terrible, a lot of trafic and the the internet driving directions are wrong, you cannot turn in certain streets. Over the hotel is worted the money I payed. the restaurant food is delicious.

The San Francisco Plaza Hotel came highly recommended from my brother. It´s convenient to other locations downtown but still relatively quiet. The one drawback is how dark the hotel rooms are as well as the size of the bathrooms. It´s a small complaint, but it might make or break the deal for others. We loved the hotel!

The staff is excellent, very friendly. The front desk staff speaks English. You will often see the owner in the restaurant in the mornings. I was able to access the WiFi 24 hours. Before, it was intermittant.

It was okey the only complaint I have is that we weren't told that we couldn't make local calls from our room I made a call home in the us and was charge 50.00 dls for 30 min outreagous to say the least. Loved the hotel's old charm. This is not a 4 star hotel...maybe 3. The beds are very hard - had to purchase a memory foam cushion for the bed while there. You can walk to everything from this hotel and the front desk staff is wonderful.

I have stayed there before. I have seen 3 variations of their rooms. They all vary a bit, but overall they could use a fresh coat of paint and tidy up. This time around we had a room right above the reception area. I do not recommend getting a room in this area. In the middle of the night, I could hear a family checking in and a child running around […] yelling. After about 20 minutes I decided to call the front desk and asked them what was going on and if they could keep it down. Instead of an apology he stated that the family was checking in and the child was not running around. His representation of he hotel was awful. Considering the price of the hotel maybe I shouldn't be expecting much. Regardless I'm a paying customer and I should have not received that answer. That was my first encounter with staff being rude. On the outside the hotel is freshly painted and very charming. Love the old charm of the fountains and birds chirpping. The rooms could use a fresh coat of paint and a new tub. Overall, good location, nice staff, and free wi-fi!

We stayed in a beautiful room with a terrace on the second floor. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The location is convenient to everything in the center of Guadalajara and the subway as well. Tons of taquerias and other dining options nearby. We loved it!

I have been staying here loyally for many years but do not know if I will return. The location is excellent for access to the historic district. The building itself, with its stonework and patios with fountains, is beautiful. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the restaurant is pleasant. For years the hotel was in need of an overhaul, and a lot […] of work has been done recently. I am not sure if the overhaul is still in progress. The rooms are freshly painted. My main concerns are two: the new beds are extremely hard and uncomfortable; and the bathroom was untouched and much in need of attention. There are mold stains on the bathroom ceiling, and we had to remove the clogged shower head to be able to bathe with a stream of water. The shower door has been removed, meaning the entire bathroom gets wet. We were expecting to stay again in a few days and changed our reservation to another hotel, mainly due to the poor night's sleep. This could be a gem of a reasonably priced hotel if it were not for the beds and the bathrooms. Apart from the rock-hard mattresses, the pillows and linens are of very poor quality, with not even a mattress cover under the sheets. If these can be improved, I will be happy to return. But I cannot recommend the hotel now after such an uncomfortable night. Read more

Hotel is historic; just a few blocks from the main plaza and fronted by its a small plaza. Hotel is surrounded by other hotels, night clubs and commercial structures. Rooms are reasonably priced and furnished with old wooden furniture. Good on-site restaurant. I've stayed here on several occasions and will return.

This is the third time we've stayed at Hotel San Francisco Plaza. It is in the Centro District of Guadalajara, very near the churches, museums, plazas, and restaurants that we like to visit, so the location is great. The staff is pleasant and the hotel itself is very Mexican - lots of statuary, large windows, reasonably large rooms, fountains. The […] first room we were given this trip had no outside windows, and only one window that opened partially to a wide hallway. The air conditioner didn't work, and the room felt close and stifling. However, when we asked to be moved, the staff was very accommodating. We were moved to a room overlooking San Francisco Plaza, with great door/windows that opened onto a balcony. Right across from the hotel on the plaza is a nightclub that was busy and loud for most of the weekend, but other than that, it was a good location. When we came back a week later, we had a large room overlooking an internal 'plaza' that has a fountain and large cages of birds. It was very pleasant and we went to sleep to the sound of the fountain. All in all, we've always been pleased with this hotel and we will be back the next time we're in Guadalajara. Read more

Authentic oldfashioned mansion with a lot of charm and a good location, close to city center, but quiet. If you can overlook peeling paint and some general fustiness, you will like it. Breakfast was a rich buffet at a low cost. The beds were very comfortable. The room price was a bargain.

We had a wonderful time at the San Francisco Plaza. It had a dusty decay feel because they were doing some remodeling, to make it wheel-chair accessible, which added to the charm. I was extremely disappointed in this hotel. The room was a decent size but that was about it. The side tables where cracked down the middle, the glass casing on the light fixtures where broken. The bed frame looked like someone took a hammer to it. The bathroom was gross. Not to mention the blankets had weird stains on it that looked like dry blood. Outside […] the hotel... is tranny heaven. There is a tranny/gay bar and they play music all night long (quite loudly) and what looked like prostitutes hanging out outside. This was my first time in Guadalajara and I thought it was going to be a lot nicer. I'm sure there are other places that are nicer but not this one. It felt like I was stuck in a bad "red light" district shady hotel. The late night receptionist (a shady looking guy) looked like he was really high. I grabbed a taxi early in the morning and got the hell out of there. I did not feel safe, I did not feel comfortable... I am definitely going to dish out for a better hotel next time. I didn't really get to eat there so I can't comment on the food. This is definitely not a place for a family to go to. I knew it wasn't going to be the best (you get what you pay for) but I was scared to use the bathroom it was so gross... not to mention sleep in the bed (hard and uncomfortable) with all the weird stains on the sheets. Very friendly and helpful bilingual staff. Choose inside room with window to courtyard. The surrounding is not good at night. The breakfast is pretty good for the price too. Don't miss the two churches nearby on 16 de september - the exterior and interior is gorgeous.
