Their listing on hotels.com claims they provide free wifi in rooms and free breakfast. Beware! The wifi only works in the lobby and they do not provide breakfast for free. Staff speaks very little english. Service is incredibly slow. We tried two of the restaurants, food was terrible in both. Their sushi restaurant puts cream cheese in every single […] roll, its disgusting! No soap in the bathroom. Air conditioning broken. Balcony door broken. They play very loud pop music in the courtyard so it can be heard in every room. Music blasts through the speakers until 11pm in weeknights. The pool and beach access are gorgeous. They are the only nice things about this hotel. If you are looking for a hotel with a nice pool and beach, and you are willing to accept poor service, bad food, broken A/C, an uncomfortable bed, and more- then go. If you are looking for an economic hotel staying in Cancun, Bel Air is a pretty good choice. If hotel can host some activities for the evening time in the courtyard, it will be great. If hotel can sell the day pass to the luxury hotels, that could be better for the hotel and the guests.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Bel-Air for nearly a week during our Thanksgiving break. A lot of reviews are mixed, but overall, we found it to be a very nice experience. The all-inclusive meal option saved us a lot of money, and considering the staff changes up the menu depending on the day/time, we didn't grow tired of the food, which was always […] high-quality. Staff was helpful and kind, exchanging money was easy and inexpensive, and the view of the beach and ocean was gorgeous. Our room was always clean, and the hotel is always getting renovated - while we were there, a water wall and a glass floor was installed, becoming the sushi bar dining area. Only on occasion did the Bel-Air's quirks become more questionable issues - on our last night there, the waiter was spotted chatting with co-workers multiple times even though it took forever for us to get our order, which was incorrect besides. We thought a bracelet system for the all-inclusive diners would have saved time waiting around for a receipt, even just at the drink bar by the pool. Also, staff came at odd times for cleaning/turn-down service, and sometimes, not at all. In addition, the resort is at the far end of the hotel zone and on the bus line besides, so we were both able to go off on our own with ease, and when we went on a couple of day trips, we got dropped off first when they were over. Next Day Travel was particularly accommodating in planning/changing itineraries. Overall, we'd do this again. Read more

Beware of flooding in Bathrooms. Employees are aware that bathrooms flood in shower area which causes frequent interruptions. Also make sure to plan transportation two days before reservation, at least, with hotel since they provide shuttle service for cheap price. They will not perform curtesy contact for this.

This hotel says it 4 plus stars. Maybe when it was new!! This hotel is run down the rooms are not very clean and the pools are dirty and the hot tube are cold. The shower did not have hot water and we had to ask multipple time to get it repaired. I am very glad i only stayed one night there. The food was terrible small portions and poor quality

The "gym" at this hotel was not a gym - but rather a small room with one broken treadmill and two broken bikes. The hotel claimed to have a jacuzzi in the pool area, but it was a small cold pool with jets. The staff claimed they did not have a heater. The pool was too cold to swim in. This is a hotel with a spa- not a resort. You can book other excursions on site to go elsewhere but there is nothing else going on there. The saving grace for this hotel is the pool bar, but closes at dusk with just a music CD playing mixed songs. The Sushi restaurant is very good, but Hector needs more tables and more staff so he can make more tip$$. The rooms do need updating but they keep them clean. There were several inconveniences including no keys, system down, electricity down, no air despite asking for it to be fixed 3 times. Everything with this hotel went wrong from the beginning. I'm not a picky traveler and quite enjoyed the quieter more Mexico feel to this hotel, however everything went wrong. When we arrived their system was down and no keys were issued so a bellboy accompanied us to our room every time. Additionally, the electricity went off for awhile so elevators […] were not working. The internet only worked for about 50% of the time we were there. Because the system was down we were unable to pay through our room for my spa since we were leaving that day. Thus, I paid in cash, but they would not accept any bill that had the slightest tear. Lastly, we didn't have air in our room for two days. I called three times and they sent 4 different people up to our room, nothing was fixed and no room change was offered despite the hotel only being at 25% capacity. The personnel was extremely pleasant and willing to help even though these inconveniences kept popping up. The pictures of the hotel on the website I felt was misleading. Then minibar did not work when we got to the hotel and it took them 2 days to replace the minibar after hounding the staff. The housekeeping wasn't very good either, did not leave washclothes in room one day and coffee the next day.

I had the worst check-in time with this hotel. It is a nice looking hotel, but the management and the people who work there need to take a course on costumer service. I saw 5 unhappy guests trying to check-in. The front desk people were running all over the place like chickens with their heads cut off. The hotel seems a bit dated in style and is done up in what I would call a "spa" style. Lots of white gauze curtains, etc. Beds are super soft/comfortable. Restaurant is just so-so as to food taste (seemed bland), but the service was good.

First of all, i was very impressed with the transportation service from the airport to the hotel and back. they were waiting for us at the exit and we did not wait more than 2 min to get going... we requested an upgrade to balcony room, which was given to us in 5 minutes. the staff at Bel Air was awesome. This is a GREAT hotel. Especially if you want to be away from all the spring break madness. Spent extra $$ for the ocean view and it was so worth it. Its a small hotel with amenities... coffee/bread in the morning, sparkling wine at sunset. Nice simple touch. On the beach, the hotel provides chairs and umbrellas. There is also food/bev service poolside […] and beachside. If you want to go into town, there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. Takes about 15-30 minutes, depends on the bus driver. This was a good place as a staging point for our Chichen Itza trip, but I wouldn't recommend a stay of more than a couple of days. When we made the reservation we did not know that we were going to a resort that did not allow children under the age of 12. During our stay we wondered why it was so peaceful and quiet at the resort. As we were leaving we inquired about the lack of small children and were told about the "no-kids" policy. This hotel is a great value. Rooms are clean, beds and linens are comfortable. I would highly recommend an ocean view room. Rooms that face the main road are likely loud with traffic. Ocean view rooms are quiet and the view is wonderful. The hotel is not a posh luxurious place. But they do provide nice complimemtary touches like coffee and danishes […] in the morning and tea time in the afternoon. The beach is beautiful. Water is crystal clear and sand is white. This is not true with every hotel in Cancun. The pool is nice too. Lots of cushony lounge chairs for laying out. Umbrellas and hammocks too. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Some greenery around the pool would help the visual appeal of this hotel tremendously. The adjacent properties are not so great to look at. A worthwhile investment would be palm trees (potted) or some kind of green hedge to line the property on the south side and also sparingly in the pool area. Also, the music they play at the pool is not so great. Investing in a couple CDs would be a nice touch. And finally, I would not recommend the food at the restaurants. Hotel and room were clean; staff was friendly and attentive. However, free wi-fi was promised and was not available for 4 of our 6 days. In addition, the A/C in the room worked intermittently, which made for a couple of stuffy, hot nights - not great for sleeping. Overall, the experience was just OK.

The pool was fantastic and beautiful with a great view of the ocean. We had lagoon view overlooking the landscaping office. Not too attractive... The room was nice spacious for the money.
