Miramar - Barcelona

Very beautiful hotel, just outside of the main strip sitting on the hill- so great views of Barce and the ocean. Easy walk down the hill to Las Ramblas. My family enjoyed the exercise to and fro. Great place if you want quiet but yet not too far from the happenings. Warning some bathrooms do not have a door!

We found the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel has a great view of the city and harbor and is very close to the hop on hop off stop. We will stay there again the next time we are in town. We did find the cost for breakfast (20 euros) is not worth it, 10 euros would be more in line with wat you get.

I am disappointed greatly with the system that awards hotels in a star system. This was suppose to be a 5 star, this was no more than a 3! We choose hotels by the star system And had just stayed in the Lappa Palace in Lisbonl , a 5 star that deserved a 6! This hotel was very disappointing. The front desk was responsible For check in - out, concierge , information , bellman etc..2 people for all this? Amenities my child went to get in the outdoor pool the first day, slipped on the stair, it was covered in algae, landed on her side and I went to help her out, she was sourounded by cigaret butts! The sauna and steam room where broken or not working the 4 nights we where there, on the third night I was told just to go in the men's , a totally separate side of the spa with men's baths and lockers. The rooms- alot broken, closet doors dragged the floor making a horrid sound and was the only mirrors other than the bathroom, shower door did not close and reading lights in my room and my moms room did not work. Also thermostats did not work in both rooms. when I tried to talk to a manager The girl at the front desk said" why do you need to talk to the manager!?" In general we felt this hotel was missing a manager. The facility looks very high-tech but not very user friendly. Elevator door was working incorrectly, only opening a small amount and closing quickly. This was reported and nothing was done about it. The grounds are nice, but poor service around the pool. Except for one blond receptionist who made us wait for 4 hours for access to our room (after no sleep all night on the plane from Atlanta, GA), our stay was wonderful. However, we were pampered with spa services, including showers, hot tub, pool, and a locker in the changing room. Once in our room, we were happy to find at least one familiar two-prong outlet for charging our computer. Every room has a huge tub and shower as well. The hotel is located atop Montjuic, which provides a beautiful view of the city. It is a quiet location, especially in the evening, which gave us an opportunity to relax after a long day of touring. Because of its views, it is a stop on the Hop On/Hop Off Bus which circles the city and stops at all of the area's attractions. We took a two-day pass both stays and took advantage of the many stops: La Pedrera, Sagrada Familia, Picasso Museum, Fundacio de Joan Miro, the beach at Barceloneta, Park Guell, Poble Espanyol, etc. Most of the people involved in the tourist industry, such as the hotel staff and tour bus personnel, speak English. The only drawback to staying at this hotel is also one of its appealing features. It is located far from shops, restaurants, stores, which makes it difficult to eat inexpensively. The Hotel is located on a hilltop that overlooks the Cruise terminal (which is why we stayed there). The short walk to town is up and down a very steep hill but worth it. The food at the Hotel was very expensive so we made several trips down the hill. The Hotel staff guessed way low on the cab fare to the Cruise terminal. It is a very good hotel. The views are magnificent. The bathrooms are great and the wifi connection is fast. Can't say anything about some other hotel facilities cause I've stayed only for a night but generally everything (the lobby, the bar, the restaurant) look 5star. We stayed in the Miramar in April 2013 for 4 nights. The hotel's communal areas are decorated to a high standard and have a modern relaxed feel to them. The location of the hotel was excellent for our needs - a 10 minute walk down the hill straight into the heart of the city (10 mins to harbour area / La Ramblas), though most guests seemed to get taxis […] to and fro (the hill is quite steep!). Staff were friendly and helpful - during our stay it was St Jordi day in Spain/Barcelona and after a day seeing people with unexplained roses and countless pop-up book stores it was really nice to find the hotel had left a complimentary rose on our bed along with a little note explaining what day it was/traditional customs. The room itself was excellent, we had very good views out over the harbour, an enormous bed, a very luxurious free standing bath. Wouldn't stay in this hotel again for a business trip if I once again had to stay in a room facing (away from the sea) the shooting club. The noise from this is quite ridiculous; morning, noon and night and also on the weekend. A hotel of this quality really should fix this problem; either pay for some proper sound-proofing of the Club, or at least […] tell guests that it's an occupational hazard, and heavily discount the back-facing rooms accordingly. If you're someone who leaves a hotel at 7am in the morning and doesn't get back until midnight, every day of your stay, then fine, you'll probably not hear a thing; if not, and you have to work from your room, make calls or you plan to stay here for 'relaxation', I really would find somewhere else. It's such a shame, as the room itself was excellent, as were the staff and the service; very friendly and helpful. However, i shan't be staying here again unless they can guarantee a solution to a surely-fixable problem; however, the Shooting Club has been there since the Barca Olympics, apparently, some 20 years ago, so don't hold your breath !! This was a great hotel with a fantastic view of Barcelona as well as the ocean. Great for a getaway as it has almost all the amenities you need to go there and relax. It isn't super convenient to walk to most spots, however we did walk to and from home a few times. Take the park routes home, it's a great way to make your way home!

Wonderful location overlooking the city and the ocean. Indoor and outdoor swimming pools and lovely gardens. Excellent place to get away from it all. As it is 5 star it is expensive. 10 minute taxi ride to La Rambla or walk down a long steep hill.
