Awesome room and location. But the service was a miss. They forgot to clean our room. When we noted it - it was evening and too late. Our room keys were disabled and took a while to get re activated. "Never Responded to My Issue - Terrible Service"
The hotel is nice on the inside. I had a large room that was very clean. This was a business trip for two nights. At no point during my trip did my shower produce hot, or even warm, water. It was ice cold the entire time. I made six attempts to have this fixed with no success. All of the personnel at Harrah's were so friendly and courteous. The staff made us feel very welcome with their southern charm. Their concierge helped out quite a bit with getting us to the New Orleans Jazz Fest with several great options. Harrah's made us feel right at home. The staff was phenomenal, but the amenities were not the best. The hot water didn't always work in the room and the gym was very disappointing. "Expensive, the appearance of service w/o any"
The main impression is one of poor training and incompetence of the staff. One would go down to the lobby and 10 people would ask if they could help you, but none of them actually did help. 3 separate times I asked for Bell assistance and never received it. I got a smoking room instead of the requested non-smoking room. They said they could switch it, […] but in when I got to my room it smelled like a cigar bar. Had to wait a day to switch rooms. The Ruth's Chris Steak house in the hotel was also poorly run. Sometimes OK service, often a lot of staff milling around doing nothing. The two other associated restaurants "Grand Isle" and "Mannings" also had extremely poor service and were not focused on the customer. This may be that many of the customers are getting "free food" by using the casino, and so there is no motivation of the restaurant staff of management to provide good service. Everyone was very friendly at the front desk area. Checked us in and out quickly. Only complaint was when we got our car back the next day from valet parking, it was so full of bird doo that it was disgusting. I could have parked in the self garage and got 30 minutes free play, did not know until after valeted. But I figured hey it is done and will […] be in a safe dry place, NO! I think they parked it under a tree in the street. We were on vacation driving back to Houston and it was so gross. I have stayed at several hotels in New Orleans and Harrah's has the best staff of any by far. Check in and check out was pleasurable. I found the location to be more convenient than I expected. It is in walking distance of the French Quarter, the Superdome and Riverwalk. The hotel is separate from the casino so if gambling is not what you want to do […] you need never walk through the casino. It is also much better kept and cleaner than a large majority of the other hotels. The casino has several places to eat in all price ranges and the hotel has a Ruth Chris if spicy New Orleans food isn't for you. They offer both smoking and non-smoking rooms. I grew up in New Orleans and was very excited to have a chance to be a tourist. Harrahs was not worth the cost. Yes, the room was clean and quite..but some of the rooms actually have windows that face the parking lot...yes the parking lot. We were first given a room that had the parking lot view. The bed was not comfortable, there was no desk to work […] from, they charged $11 day to use the internet, parking was $30 a day unless you played in the casino for 30 minutes. "Housekeeping and Casino Garage Parking Awful"
The hotel charged $34/day for valet but with 30 minutes of play in the casino, parking is validated. That is great news for me considering I am a gambler.
