Woodstock Inn was a delightful experience. A short walk to downtown for dining and a stroll through a lovely historic district. Highly recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great get away!"
This was a great weekend getaway from the business of life. Pam is a lovely woman who makes great treats fror breakfast - a perfect start to a relaxing day. It's within walking distance from "the square" which has a small town, homey feel. My wife and I had a great time and really enjoyed the privacy of our room and all its accommodations! "Pros and Cons"
My husband and I stayed here for one night before a Chiefs game. It's only a few miles from the stadium and not too hard to find. The house and decor are beautiful! Everything was very clean. The bedroom was very comfortable although it had almost no space for luggage. The shower wasn't much bigger than one on a cruise ship, not what comes to mind for […] a luxurious getaway. One other guest said their bed broke twice. We really enjoyed the place itself but will not go back because the service was disappointing. The "entertainment" that night included two different friends of the manager giving sales pitches for products they sold individually. We had good conversation too, but it was very inappropriate and unwelcome pressure that was waiting just inside the front door after we returned from dinner. The manager was also snappy and repeatedly interrupted conversation at breakfast (food was decent but not great) which made an awkward atmosphere for everyone at the table. "Cute Little Bed and Breakfast"
My wife and I stayed the night here after doing the Renaissance Festival and Worlds of Fun Halloween Haunt. We stayed in the Spanish Room and it was quite lovely. This was our first time at a Bed and Breakfast and we were quite impressed. It is definitely very different from staying at a hotel, but in a good way. The owner told us there was a DVD collection […] available downstairs in case we wanted to watch a movie in our room. There were also homemade cookies set out for guests, which was nice. Breakfast was served around 9:00 AM and all of the guests sat together at the dining room table which was a unique experience, considering we did not know anyone else. For a shy person like me it was a little awkward, but not enough to make me feel uncomfortable. The food was very good though. Overall the service was extremely friendly and we had no complaints throughout our entire stay. We would definitely stay here again in the future. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Too expensive for such a small room. Deco is over killed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Single room with no closet, no dresser, a shower 2.5' x 2.5', a toilet paper holder that kept getting knocked over, an inoperative vent in the bathroom, broken AV equipment, and the messiest B&B I have ever experienced. Breakfast dishes were still uncleaned in the early eveing hours. Never again - here.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great ambiance and we loved the place!"
We loved the feeling Woodstock Bed and Breakfast had. We felt comfortable and at home there. Our favorite part was the next morning for a home cooked breakfast that was delicious! We sat around the table with all the other guests and enjoyed the company and had a great time. We will definitely be back!!Genuine Expedia guest review

"first stay at B&B"
Nice B&B and a very nice staff. Recommended a local restaurant that was excellent. Large basket of laundry in the hallway was a detractor. Room and bathroom were small. Breakfast with the other guests was really enjoyable. This was our first stay at a B&B.Genuine Expedia guest review
"No closets at the inn"
The inn is conveniently located so it is possible to walk to the Truman library and home ( if you like to walk) and also the visitor's center. In fact its location was excellent. The manager was extremely helpful, picking us up at the train station, giving us information about restaurants and sight seeing. The problem is the rooms which do not have […] closets!, tiny bathrooms with the sink in the room and filled with decorative clutter. There are old noisy below window heating and cooling units . The beds are comfortable but blankets old and shabby. Breakfasts were excellent and included in the price of the inn. But if you like bed and bathroom comfort, you will be disappointed. "It was a nice Bed & Breakfast"
We stayed here because we were going to watch the Chiefs vs. Vikings game on Sunday (we are Viking fans from MN) and this place was only about 5 min. away (all the hotels that were closer were fully booked). It was in a nice area of Independence and just about 1/2 miles away from an area with many restaurants, shops, a movie theater and a corner bar. […] This B&B is a lovely house with many nice rooms. We stayed in the Scottish room and it was very comfortable and nice. The only thing that was irritating is that there apparently is only one duplicate set of keys for the front door of the inn, and they had already given those to another couple, so if the innkeeper had to leave and go anywhere and we happened to get back before she did, we were stuck sitting outside having to wait for her to get back. This B&B has apparently been open since June of this year and they should probably get some more duplicate front door keys made so that situation doesn't happen. Other than that,it was a nice stay, no complaints. The innkeeper lady, Pam, makes breakfast and coffee at the time of the morning you request, and can recommend places to go and things to see in the area, and is very helpful. So overall, our stay there was nice. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great place to stay in Independence"

This was a very comfortable and welcoming place. Pam was a great host and cooked a wonderful breakfast. She allowed me to keep my car there while I biked the Katy Trail and it was very safe. Close to all of the Harry Truman places as well.

This was a nice B&B although there were a few things that we liked and didn't like. Pam was a wonderful host and snacks in the evening were great, and we happened to stay the night that there was a musician playing. A wonderful touch. The Scandinavian Room was quite small and the bathroom even smaller. The sink was outside the bathroom and the stool and shower seemed to be in a small closet. There were several hooks and no closet! The breakfast was great and served to our dietary requests. I didn't like the fact that my credit card was charged at the time I made the reservations. I thought only Hotwire did that!!

Lovely experience at this B&B near historic downtown Independence Square. Lots to do -while enjoying the area. Entertainment is provided once a month and visitors enjoyed a talented musician who played many of our favorite songs. Next month is Italy!
"Great place, amazing Innkeeper"

I stayed at the inn for a total of 8 weeks. I couldn't say enough good things about my stay. Pam made me feel extremely welcomed, and made sure I had everything I needed. Rooms were great. Bedding was extremely comfortable, and made me feel right at home. The location was in the heart of Independence where you can get to locations in timely matter with out all the noise of the city. Would definitely recommend Woodstock Inn. Thank you for everything! Ashley
"I Fell in Love with This Place!!!"

I had the best experience at Woodstock Inn. Ms.Pam was great I can't thank her enough. My fiancé and I rented the entire Woodstock Inn to host my birthday/couple's event. The breakfast was amazing, always served with a smile. Pam went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. It was great to relax, and the Rivera Suite was amazing. I can't wait until my next getaway at Woodstock Inn. My guest were so pleased with our stay as well. We all hated to leave!!!! This has officially became my favorite place. Thanks again Pam we love you. Sincerely, Toni & Trey
We loved staying at the Woodstock Inn. It was a wonderful experience as a home away from home! Breakfast was yummy and the tub was very relaxing! The inn keeper was also very friendly Thank you for the wonderful service! Natalie
"Great Place Awesome Innkeeper"
02/24/14 Darrin H Wamego, Kansas
My wife and I needed to get away just to do nothing. We found this wonderful place that was close enough to drive yet far enough away to relax and forget about things for a couple days. The B & B is close enough to all the things you would want to do in KC if you want to do that and in walking distance of downtown Independence if you want to walk around and enjoy all the history and shops downtown. They offer massages if you would like that too. They have people come to the Inn so you don't have to go anywhere, and btw, the massage was awesome! Pam French, the innkeeper, is awesome! She is full of information of places to visit, from eating to sight seeing. Her breakfast are awesome and her hospitality is second to none! We had the pleasure of hearing and meeting some wonderful people while we were there. Pam brought in some featured people one night. One was a local young lady that is a very talented piano player and singer. She also had a lady that featured coffee with health benefits. When our two days were over, we didn't want to leave and I know you won't want to either if you decide to stay here.
"Everybody loves the sound of a train in the distance. – Paul Simon"

So true, isn’t it? And as long as you don’t leave your window open, the trains passing within a half mile of your room will not wake you up several times throughout the night (don’t know why one of us didn’t just get up and shut the window!) Wifi: great, reliable in the room Bed: firm Bathroom: had the efficient feature of the sink in the room so the mirror doesn’t get all fogged up. As long as you don’t mind the sink becoming the predominant feature of the wall opposite the bed, it is so smart. Breakfasts: Huge and wonderful, served communal style so you can get to know your fellow guests. Innkeeper: We were had the owner, Kim, not Pam, and had a wonderful time with her. We’re sure Pam is great too, but we had a blast with Kim.
"Coziness Worthy of Creativity!"

The Woodstock Inn is a charming, cozy place to escape the daily doldrums. As a writer working to finish my graduate thesis I found the space inspirational. Located on the Independence Square, the Inn is surrounded in nostalgia: the quaint churches and boutiques reminders of simpler times. Breakfasts were hearty and social. Pam and Kim are both wonderful hostesses who enjoy sharing with and learning about their diverse guests. The inn is suitable for work, rest, or romance. I am sure to return. Sincerely.
"a wonderful place to stay"
11/24/13 Inderjeet p Princeton, New Jersey
I had an excellent week's stay at this bed and breakfast hotel. The whole place is wonderfully decorated and in very good shape. The room was very comfortable indeed. Most of all, Ms Pam French, the manager, was warm, friendly, kind and generous with her time. She makes wonderful breakfasts too. And she kindly drove me to the Truman library every morning and picked me up from there when the weather turned cold and wet. I heartily and without reservation recommend this hotel to all visitors especially scholars working at the Truman library (which is just about 20 minutes' walk away). But Pam French is undoubtedly this hotel's greatest asset!
