"nice lounge chairs @ the beach with umbrella"
perfect place for families with kids or groups. They have a wonderful outside space with entertainment, chairs on the sand around a fire pit and an outside restaurant with pick nick tables. Right at the beach and close to the center.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Return trip just as great as the first"

We just returned from a 2nd annual Girls trip to the Beach Shack. We are a group of ladies in our early fifties and loved the Beach Shack last year. We were not disappointed with our most recent trip! The staff is amazing from the front desk, to the beach and at the Rusty Nail Bar. The hotel is loaded with young children, families, newlyweds and of course people our age. The people that were staying at the hotel were great! We made friend from Arizona, Long Island, etc. We had a ground floor room near the shuffleboard court and had a blast watching everyone go by while we sipped cocktails in the late afternoon. Everyone walking by stopped by to say hello! The hotel in very conveniently located to the shopping/restaurant area. The hotel has their own parking lot and you're guaranteed a spot. When we drove out one night to dinner, the parking attendant placed a cone in a spot near our room so we would be close! Since we are from the Jersey shore, we know what seaside motels look like so if you're expecting a Miami looking resort - you won't get that. Would recommend this place for sure!

We stay at the Beach Shack every year. The staff is always helpful and pleasant. Love the atmosphere of the Rusty Nail. I do wish they opened for breakfast during the week. We stayed end of May into June since it is not peak season I assume is the reason. But I did see a lot of other guests looking to get breakfast. I love the set up at the beach we have had Adam he is so pleasant sets up the chairs so nice. One day we went our experience was not as good. Their was a young man and a girl sitting in the chairs. We were unsure if they worked at the shack so we kind of were left standing there. I finally asked them can we get chairs. He did not give us a choice like Adam has. He put us far from the water so it was hard with the kids. He threw our towels on the chairs. Felt like we were disturbing his conversation. But overall the Beach shack is a great place if you want that beach feeling.
"Return Trip Did Not Disappoint"

Our first experience with the Beach Shack was in 2011. We loved it so much it was the natural place to stay on our return trip. The location is perfect, close to many places to eat and of course the beach. The rooms were comfy, clean, and well-appointed. There was ALWAYS staff around doing something; cleaning, setting out towels, serving drinks at the pool, etc. Our favorite amenity is the ability to have chairs, towels, and umbrellas set up for us on the beach. A huge shout out to Adam, who on Thursday, July 10, 2014, single-handedly set up chairs and umbrellas for numbers of guest. He did so with purpose, smile, and a "can-do" attitude. The one drawback is that the pool can be a bit noisy with all the children, but this certainly isn't a reason not to stay. On the day that you leave you wish to stay longer and enjoy the beach, they were nice enough to allow us to use their parking lot and even use the outside showers. Having the Rusty Nail right next door makes cocktail hour that much more fun!

My wife booked a 1 night 2 day stay at the hotel last minute via Booking.com. There was plenty of availability due to the fact that it was last month (June) and the full fled "season" hadn't started yet. Also we booked for mid week. Before we headed out that morning I went to verify the reservation and noticed she accidentally booked for the previous night. In a panic we called Booking.com and the very nice rep told us that there would be no problem switching the dates as long as the hotel did not mind doing so. We Called the hotel and plead of them to allow us to come that day while we apologized for our mistake. After 45 minutes of receiving a run around and with 1 foot out the door the manager got on the phone to tell us there was nothing that they could do and to pay more attention next time. Needless to say my wife was so upset that I had to tell her they refunded us and booked us for the night we had planned on going. The hotel stunk all around once we arrived. Staff was unpleasant. Location was decent.
"Not what it was or should be"

I have stayed at this location many times even back to when it was the coachman, and have never had such a poor experience. I booked a family unit with two double bed and got a unit with one, when I told the office about it I was told they were all booked, another way of saying to bad your stuck. First night there were two girls out side our window being loud at 3:00 am you can not call the desk as there is no one there, you have to call another property for security. The room we were given was next to the laundry and very loud between what ever was running inside and the huge fan just out side the door. They give chairs and table where the view is of the trash can, bags of towels from the laundry and the stair case to second floor. Dirty and loud not enjoyable at all. House keeping meets there in the morning and will use the chairs and table for their stuff, so don't plan on having coffee there in the morning. I had also add a package to the room for Rusty Nail vouchers and base ball caps, never did get the baseball caps. Just over all not the experience I have had in the past and not at all what it should have been for the price.. If you go make sure you do not get room106. The bed is not comfortable and there is set of towels per guest so only one shower a day or reuse towels that I don't even do at home.

I just stayed at the Beach Shack with some friends for two nights and was very impressed. The staff were super nice to us!! And the whole place had a very chilled beachy feel to it. They have a fire pit and live music to relax by in the evening. They also provide complimentary beach chairs and towels at the beach, which was very convenient. Perfect place for a family vacation.

The hotel is ocean view. They provide chairs towels and umbrellas. Very California feel. Fire pit and bar nice. Not sure how bad prior reviewers kids were. Staff were not rude at all. Lots if kids around and no one seemed to mind. Will definitely come back.

didn't know what to expect and everything exceeded our expectations. Since the group of owners own Congress Hall down the street, we knew the place HAD to be good. Shabby Chic surfer décor and good service! Location was PERFECT, across the street from beautiful beach and walking distance to historic town. Rusty Nail is a laid back, bare foot, super casual place to hang out and have drinks/food. The live bands at night were really good. Don't worry if you have kids.. the room where the band is, is completely sound proof and you won't hear a thing. That same room where the band is, is quite smelly, like old gym socks, but after a few drinks, you won't care. Perfect place for watching people dance. quite entertaining. The best part, is the beach service you get and the amenities at congress hall are available to all beach shack patrons. We can't wait to go back!! So relaxing and fun!! (adorable rooms, but beds are not comfy)

Incredibly stuck up staff. Overheard them talking about my kids being loud in the lobby. (Sorry sometimes my 7 and 4 year old act fussy). Called for extra towels twice and finally had to go downstairs to get them myself. Lady at desk did not even attempt to hold back rolling her eyes infront of me. We were referred to this hotel by others but it seems as though the staff has changed since our friends were there last. Do not recommend anyone, especially with children.
