"MUST SEE & STAY"
A nice little hotel with great owners and staff. They always had a smile on their faces and a pot of coffee to share. Great history and right in the heart of old route 66. Just relax and enjoy.
"A Real Treat"
I expected a place to rest up before a week of backpacking in the Grand Canyon, and instead got a wonderful journey back in time. The themed rooms are great, and the feel is definitely more B&B than hotel. While sound may carry under doors and through walls, guests were quiet; I slept the night through in the comfortable bed. The owner has put a lot […] into restoring this landmark, keeping it much like it was at the Turn of the Century.-- including no TV in the rooms, and some with shared bathroom. It is delightfully unlike any other place I've stayed. Read more
"The Best Hotel on our Road Trip"
If you want to stay in a hotel that's different, unique and irrepeatable, book this one. It's a nice, cute and clean little place with character, you will love it!

"Cute and charming hotel"
This hotel is really cute and quaint. I loved the location, only an hour to the GC. Each room has a different theme such as chinese, military, the choices are endless. the rooms are a bit small, but I guess that's how they used to live back in wild wild west times. The staff is charming esp the sweet chinese lady at the front desk. I would definitely […] recommend it again!! Read more

"Nice service"
The service of the hotel was so good. We were able to choose the room by ourselves. We chose the Blue Room, which was pretty small but had more practical decoration. Great location to drive to Grand Canyon.

"Grand Canyon hotel, Williams, Az"
Full of character this hotel was interesting to stay in and the owners were supper nice and helpful. The other guests were very interesting, from all parts of the world. The rooms are very small, due to age of hotel. But the main drawback was the squeaky bed.
"Grand Canyon Hotel"
Cute little slice of history!
"Original Hotel"
It was very nice for a break from the craziness of a life ina big city. This hotel is original and make you feel different when you use to stay in huge resorts. The staff is really friendly and welcoming.
"Know what you expect"
Classic old hotel. Nice folks, lousy pillows. A little noisy but that comes with the history an age of building.
"Outstanding"
If you like history it is a place to stay. Old west sham.
"Awesome Hotel - Totally Worth the Drive"
When booking this hotel I didn't realize it was about 1 hr from the south tip of the Canyon and was originally a bit bummed about it. After getting to the hotel, I quickly changed my tune. The staff is genuinely sweet and helpful, the hotel is quaint and unique with authentically themed rooms, and the surrounding area is adorable. Right away you feel […] welcome and like part of a family here. Even with the 1 hr drive, this hotel is probably one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. I would highly recommend it to anyone. "fantastic little hotel"
This was a wonderful hotel. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were beautiful. The history of the hotel was enough of a vacation for us. If we would have known it was so great we would have stayed longer and enjoyed all the sights and shops in williams. We will be back again soon! FIVE STARS!
We had a great stay at the Grand Canyon Hotel. Amy and Oscar were very accommodating. They were able to give us an extra room on very short notice. I loved meeting the other guests at the hotel. There were people staying at the hotel from all over the world. The location was very convenient to shopping and restaurants in Williams. I would definitely […] stay at this hotel again. Read more
"A special hotel"
The hotel is well decorated and has a very long history. It's located very conveniently at the old route 66. A good choice if you visit grand canyon. The only thing we were not comfortable with was that there are doors between different guest rooms. And the walls seem not very thick. I could clearly hear the voices from the room next door. Also in […] the morning we were awakened by their voices. Read more
"Good value in the heart of Williams"
We stayed here for one night before heading to the Grand Canyon. The hotel is very old and rickety but the rooms were very clean and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Each room is unique and it is first come first pick of rooms which I thought was cool. You could feel all of the old spirits that have come and gone through the last century […] so if you like that good kind of creepiness, this place is for you! Read more
"Interesting historic rte 66 hotel"
Grand Canyon Hotel is not your typical chain hotel. Upon arrival we were given a list if rooms we could choose from, we had prepaid so the rooms offered were either at the price level we had selected or available for $10 more per night. We climbed the wide staircase (no elevator) and wandered the corridors looking at all the rooms that were available. […] The word 'historic' is probably the best way to describe the rooms... The beds were quite small, most rooms had an en-suite bathroom. One with a claw foot tub, the rest with a shower. All the toilet and sinks were immaculately clean, but the shower stalls were aged and had peeling painted floors. Each room had a different theme, but all looked a little tired. To say you stayed in the oldest hotel in Arizona on Rte 66 makes it worth staying at least one night, but if you're looking for comfort above all else this hotel is probably not for you. Read more
"cute & quaint"
My boyfriend and I stayed here during our trek from Phoenix to Sedona to Williams to the Grand Canyon. The hotel itself is fairly old (in US standards...circa 1890s) so don't expect hotel luxury. The building itself is somewhat revitalized to include basic modern amenities (read bathroom & running water) but still gives that historic feel reflective […] of Williams itself. The place definitely has character. As many of the previous reviews state...each room is different...decorated in accordance to a theme. We stayed in room 21 which depicted a more beachy environment (comforting as we're from San Diego :) Other rooms we visited (as you're allowed to pick your own from those available at the time) were of a boudoir, WWI era, Mexico, Sweden, Paris, an early 1900s child's bedroom, and a romantic getaway...you get the picture. If you're not one to feel creeped out by an already lived-in atmosphere (as my boyfriend was seeing props of a woman's dress or military uniform on a rack or a child's stuffed animal) then I'd recommend it for a memorable, out-of-the-ordinary hotel stay. Things nowadays are often dry & indistinguishable so why not change it up with a stay at the Grand Canyon Hotel! Read more

"This is definitely the Old West!"
This hotel takes you back a bit... about a hundred years. Had to ask it there was electricity or if they provided a lantern to get around. They told me where I could tie up my horse and then get a shave and eat at the local saloon. If you are looking to take a step back in time... this is the place!
"great stay"
Thanks so much to the owner and staff of this wonderfully quaint hotel. We loved staying there and having an opportunity to pick which room and decor struck our fancy. The location of this hotel can not be beaten. We had dinner and good music all within steps of the hotel. Wifi is provided and actually works!!!
"Recommend with a warning"
We stayed here due to convenience and price. Overall, I didn't have a problem with the room itself. No TV doesn't bother me and it was great that they offered free wifi. (Had a couple of problems with the wifi, but reconnecting fixed the issue). The room was clean and took care of our basic needs. The staff was also really friendly and helpful. My […] only reservation about the place is the noise. I'm sure not every room is the same, but ours was pretty terrible noise-wise. The first night we heard the band singing until about 11pm. Not afwful... But we could also hear cars drive by, sirens went off, the train came through. I know one came in around 11-12 at night, but I think another one may have come in at 6 am. Also, the streetsweeper came through around 5 am. The second night the band stopped earlier, we heard the train once and some sirens. I don't know if the streetsweeper came through or not. We were exhausted from walking the Grand Canyon all day so we slept pretty hard (when were able to sleep..). I'm not sure if maybe the noise levels are higher due to the window unit or not. It almost sounded like the window was open. I might stay here again in another room, but we don't plan on going back to the Grand Canyon for a while since there are other places we'd like to visit. If we do return, I'll make another review. Read more

"Amazing piece of living history!"
The Grand Canyon Hotel is the oldest hotel in Arizona - 120 years! The owners have done a marvelous job restoring this lovely lady and adding their own interesting ideas. WELL worth a stay! The prices are very reasonable and the hotel is right in the middle of all the good stuff in Williams. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. Some rooms have […] private baths while others use a communal bath. The first floor offers hostel style rooms. No 2 rooms are decorated the same but each is fascinating. As people check-in, if they are visiting from another country, a miniature of their country's flag is displayed on the check-in desk. It's very cool to see how many countries are represented every morning! We traveled on motorcycle and they were able to accomodate us with off-street parking behind the hotel on a concrete slab, which was perfect! To my fellow denizens of the Valley of the Sun: if it's July or August and you're looking for an escape, Williams and the Grand Canyon Hotel could be exactly what you're looking for! Read more
"A MUST STAY HISTORIC HOTEL!!!"
I strongly recommend this hotel as this brings in a lot of historic memories of 100 years+old and the rooms are exceptionally clean and authentic. Stay Stay Stay!!
"Grand Canyon Hotel-quaint"
The hotel was very quaint but more like a B&B without the breakfast. I felt it was a little over-priced for what you got - no phone, no TV, and the WI-FI didn't work in my room. It was a decent place to sleep.
Nice little room for what you pay.
"Interesting place"
Small but nice decorated room in an old style. Friendly staff.

"Grand Canyon Hotel"
The owner was very accommodating and obliging. She stayed open about a half hour past closing because we were travelling up from Phoenix which was about 3 - 3.5 hours away, depending on how fast we were speeding, although she told us not to hurry! That red Mustang convertible rental from Budget could really kick! Anyway, we kept in contact with her […] on our cell phone to let her know how far away we were from the hotel during our trip up, and she told us she would stay open until we got there. We really appreciated that. We needed to stay at this hotel because it is right near the Grand Canyon. This hotel is half a block away from the train which will take you to the Grand Canyon. I highly recommend booking a reservation a month or two ahead of time for the train because it is well worth it and you don't want to get shut out. Before the train takes off, they have authentic looking cowboys that stage a shootout near an Old Western set that was highly amusing. They even employed audience participation. The Grand Canyon was beyond words. You just have to see it for yourself. I would highly recommend this hotel on old Route 66. Thank you. Read more
"the Grand Canyon Hotel-the oldest hotel in Arizona"
A quaint historic hotel centered in Williams AZ the gate of the Grand Canyon. Walking distance from the Train Depot and all the city's sights. Every room is a different theme and very historic.
"AWESOME!"
step back in time. oldest town of its kind in USA. hotel staff very friendly; they let us pick out our room from those available. great place. would definitely recommend to others.
The service at this unique old hotel in downtown Williams was outstanding and whoever re-decorated it deserves an award. You can walk anywhere in town within minutes. The main street, historic Route 66, runs right by the front door. The Grand Canyon Railway is 4 blocks away. My only problem was the noise level on the second floor, not from the traffic […] but from conversation and whiny 2 year olds down the hall. All of the room doors have a 1" gap at the bottom which allows sounds of any kind to flow down the hardwood floor and right into your room. Don't expect things to quiet down until at least 11 PM and maybe midnight. Read more

"Like staying at grandma's house.Warm and welcome."
When entering the lobby of the beautiful old hotel, you know your stay is going to be good one. The hotel owner Amy greeted my wife and I with a warm hello and a smile. Being the first guests of the night is a plus, Amy offered us a self guided tour of all the rooms to choose our room for the night. The rooms were all beautifully decorated in antiques. […] Picking the room was unusual and fun. Had a great stay, cant wait to go back. Thanks to Amy and Oscar. Also thanks to their grandson for the great dinner recommendation. Read more
We had no trouble finding the Grand Canyon Hotel in Williams, AZ. We did have trouble finding parking and ended up parking on city streets. We were given our choice of 6 rooms, 2 with private bath (for $10 extra) and 4 with a "Water Closet" down the hall. We opted for the private bath. The bed was OK but the room was small and the fan in the bathroom […] was very loud. Our hosts were very helpful assisting us with our luggage up a long flight of stairs to the second floor. There was a pot of coffee available at 6 AM. Read more
We enjoyed our stay at this historic hotel. Amy was great, & I loved the theme concept for each room. Can't wait to view them all on line.
"On Route 66, ideal for touring the Canyon"
We needed somewhere to stay overnight whilst touring the south and west rims of the Grand Canyon, driving from Phoenix one day, stopping overnight and on the Vegas the next. Williams looked about half way. So we searched various chains, googled etc and only this hotel came up. Still the reviews sounded interesting and the cost was fair, so we booked […] it. We couldn't have been more pleased. the staff were ever so helpful, the concept of 'pick your own room' was novel and great fun. So although we now know there are plenty of other places in Williams, forget them and go the the Grand Canyon Hotel. Don't expect the latest in luxury but do expect something a bit different, quirky and fun! We'd definitely stay there again. Read more
"Like going back in time :)"
Lovely and quaint hotel with furnishings from days gone by.. Staff were very nice and helpful, super convenient location. If you want to get away from fancy or glitzy and stay in a hotel with old time charm, this is the place !
"Grand Canyon Hotel - a trip back in time"
This hotel takes you back to 1900. It's fun and funky and super informal. The bed was comfortable, we were encouraged to look at all the vacant rooms and pick the one we wanted, there was plenty of hot water and a great tub. It's conveniently located and within walking distance of several restaurants as well as the observation train to the canyon. No […] phone or TV in the rooms which was a positive for us. We loved this hotel and would stay again in a minute. One warning...the rooms are up a long flight of stairs so it would not be good for those who can't do stairs. Read more
"Very cozy and comfortable"
The was a wonderful stay. The location was perfect. It felt like a bed and breakfast, without the breakfast. Very hospitalable. I will go back again.
"A good choice for travelers connecting in Williams"
For a traveler who intends to take a break between anywhere and the Grand Canyon, it is a good idea to stay here for a night or two. The hotel is decorated in an old-fashioned way, which makes it very lovely and culturally attractive. It is easy to find with a GPS. And the attendant was very nice to people. I was about 30 minutes late for the check […] in time, but she showed me in with great courtesy. They don't serve breakfast but there is a cafe right next to it, which serves pretty good breakfast. The overall condition of the place is wonderful, which makes it highly recommended to you all! Read more
