"Anniversary Weekend Getaway"
Staff was courteous and friendly. Being off season things were a bit unkempt. The room was clean and comfortable. No sitting area. Jet tub was awesome. There were dust bunnies and cob webs and spiders, but if it has been empty.... Some of the towels/linens were stained. Bed was quite comfortable.

"Nice for families"
This place is very family oriented. There are gas grills for cooking, small playground for children, and just a short walk to the beach. The cottage has cookware, microwave, and a small refrigerator. Nice for a family getaway, but not modern. The television was poor.

"Good Location in Southern Maine"
We stayed at Shoreline because they allowed pets. It worked well for us - we were able to walk the dog to the beach within particular time frames and leave her in her crate to have dinner. The staff loved our dog. While the rooms are old, the location allowed us easy access to other towns along the coast. It was also easy to travel to and from New Hampshire where we visited family.

Check in was smooth, staff was pleasant. But the cabin was about 40 years beyond its prime. The bathroom was wicked small, the layout odd and the beds were old metal and not comfortable. The location was not bad though.

"Nice Place if You know What You're in For"
We stayed here over a weekend in September. It was a nice place, but don't expect a hotel-level attention to detail. There were a few holes in the drapes and everything looked a bit lived in. That said, it was within a mile of a beautiful beach and about half the price of other places in the area. I'd definitely stay again, no question.

"So charming!"
I felt like I was stepping back in time at this place. Far from modern, but well maintained and charming. Don't worry, theres tv etc. The mini houses are split in two. Our side had a full master bedroom and the front room had a full bed and a twin. The rooms were spotless, which is most important to me while traveling - so bravo to their cleaning staff! Minutes away from the heart of town. There's homemade muffins in the morning, get there quick cause they go fast! I chose this place because they're pet friendly. They only allow you to walk your dog across the street very close to traffic. If they had something a little safer it would have been perfect.

"Nice but small"
Nice cottages, but small, which got a bit Closter phobic with a family of four. Good location, not far from Kennebunk/Kennebunkport and the beach. But, with small children the walk to Parson's beach is a bit far and Kennebunk has nicer beaches. Refundable beach parking pass available at office for Kennebunk beaches, which was a pleasant surprise. Nice pool and hot tub, but the for sale signs kinda take away from it and some of the grounds aren't really maintained.

"It's a place to sleep."
Most of the cottages are very old. There are some newer ones but they are double the price. There was mold around showers. The a/c filter were very dirty not recommend if you have alergies. Pool was nice but old. Play ground for kids was very well used needs to updated. Seem like some things are just there to hit a check in a box. Staff took our trash out and teft our cottage door open and unlocked. When I talk to others said it happened to them too. So be ware if you are brave enough to stay don't leave any valuables in rooms.

"Okay - great location and cozy feel to the place"
I booked a "standard room" with 2 double beds but we ended up with a one bed and pullout sofa couch - that wasn't even a double size but a twin. I would have complained, however every room in the place was booked. The pool was a nice feature and the location of the hotel is great. It was good for a long weekend.

"A Good Pre-Season Value"
We really enjoyed our stay at this cottage style motel. It was private feeling, relaxing, and had everything we needed for our week long stay. While the fit and finish of the cottage was far from perfect, it had a homelike atmosphere and was a good place for bringing my family along. The location was within walking distance to a pleasant beach, and within reasonable driving distance to the southern beaches. The place is dog friendly, but the motel management charges an additional fee when you arrive. In addition, they ask that you walk your dog off property and clean up after them. Be forewarned that if Fido likes to sleep with you, they expect you to bring your own bed coverings. Not wholly unreasonable, but also not quite what the usual pet owning traveler is expecting.

We were worried about this motel after reading some of the reviews, but did not wish to spend $600.00 for a two night stay in Kennebuckport. So glad we didn't and decided to stay here. "Not exactly as advertised"
My family and I were under the impression that our room would have 2 double beds when in fact it had a double and a pull out love seat. It worked for the time we were there, but we would have preferred what we requested. The room came with a mini refrigerator as well as a toaster and dishes and utensils. It was nice to be able to eat in the room and not have to go out for every meal. The room was cozy overall and very clean.

"Shorelands"
Perfect location for a day at the beach! Drive (2 minutes) or walk (10 mins) down to Parson's beach- beautiful and not at all crowded. Also a 5-10 minute drive to anything else you could want- grocery, drug store, shopping, dining... This is no fancy hotel, but they supplied us with just about everything we needed (no clock though... strange). We were very comfortable and happy. Nice place for kids too, and quiet. The one complaint would be that the kitchen area could have been a bit cleaner- floor was sticky.

"Not what the description says..."
The cabin I was given was a very old, rustic cottage. It was clean, but older, smaller and far more outdated than the picture and description show. The "access to private beach" was probably the most disappointing as it is actual a walk across a busy street, up to the next intersection, than another 10 minute walk down the side of another very busy street. It was very disappointing. We left and did not stay the 2nd night even though it was already paid for...feel ad on hotels.com for this place was a very big misrepresentation of what you get when you arrive.

"Close to great beach"
I thought the location, room and help at the front desk were great. The beach is a short drive away but parking is limited but there were bikes to check out for free that you could ride to the beach for a quick dip. I wouldn't say this is a place to go for a romantic get away but rather a place to go with the family. Very kid friendly.

"Rustic Charm"
We were concerned as we pulled up to the cottages. They are older and do not make a good first impression. However, we gave it a chance and were glad we did, We had a two room cottage. It was clean and filled with utensils we could use. The beds were very comfortable. The location was good. There was coffee and tea and sweets available at the front office and a very sweet cat who came to the cottage each day to visit. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again. The only down side was the bathroom which was very small and hard to use with a daughter in a wheelchair.

The cottage was horrible. It was attached to another which I was under the impression that they were individual cottages. The parking was terrible. Had to park on grass between units so sneakers got wet every time and the outside of cottage was falling apart. Trim boards were off and had a tarp over the roof. My cottage inside must of been one of the only ones not renovated. Very outdated.Continental breakfast was only a muffin. Will never stay there again.

"Basic and cramped, but good location"
A basic semi-detached unit convenient to a beach walkway. Good to be a distance away from the 'mayhem' of downtown Kennebumkport on a weekend. However, it would be impossible for larger people or more than two adults as there is just not enough room. The bathroom is tiny - a larger person could not comfortably use it. The second bed could be removed (or have single beds only) and a couple of comfortable chairs substituted for the 2 small wooden stools. Although the electrical kitchen appliances looked OK and worked fine, most were out of reach of powerpoints and therefore had to be moved every time they were used. Outside, all-night, security lighting easily penetrated the flimsy window fittings/curtains..

Stayed here for one night with my husband and our dog. The room was clean, but in need of updating. Bathroom was tiny. "Very Disappointing. Not well maintained"
08/17/15 Caitlin C Valley Falls, New York
I do not recommend staying here. We rented a studio cottage with the assumption it would be its own building since the website made it seem that way. However, when we checked in we found that it was duplex cottage, this was an issue for us since we have a 10-month old baby and a dog. I expressed my concern to the manager and she wasn't helpful and was annoyed that I was asking. I explained to her that I would have rented a different unit type had she described it as a duplex on her website. Her response was that she tries to be as descriptive as possible and the website says "Cottage room." Well I went back and checked the website and it doesn't say "Cottage Room" on the website, and how is that even descriptive anyway? This was only the beginning. There were many problems with our room, the windows were screwed shut, the bed was very sunken in, the frame was falling apart and the bathroom was very very tiny. There was no place to sit near your cottage because the whole place is so congested. They claim to be dog friendly but your not supposed to walk your dog on their grounds. There is a pet exercise area that is fenced in but they didn't mow the grass so it was very overgrown and not able to be used. The grill in the common area was broken. The pool liner was pealing up off the bottom and bubbled. There seemed to be nothing right with this place. I will never stay here again.

"Disappointing"
08/02/15 Deena J Boynton Beach, Florida
The day we arrived we found the room very clean and well supplied but we found out the second day that there is no room cleaning (other than clean towels) until the third or fourth day of a stay. We did not know this in advance and were disappointed to come back the second night and find the beds unmade, bathroom not cleaned, etc. There was also a problem with the "pet friendly" policy. We had been told when we booked the room with a rental agent that there was no charge for the dog but when we arrived we were told there was a $15 per night charge. Furthermore, the rental agent had not even notified Shorelands that we were bringing a dog. We were then informed that the dog could not be walked on the lawn or in the garden area and had to be taken down the street to a corner property (also owned by Shorelands) or to the beach to relieve herself! How were we supposed to explain to the dog that she could not relieve herself until she reached the corner? What a ridiculous policy! Because of these two situations we have to rate our stay at Shorelands as unsatisfactory.

We had another great time. Plain and simple. My family of 4 were in 1 room, and my sister and her daughter were in a smaller one beside us. Back and forth to the pool and ocean we went for the whole time we were there. It's not posh but we don't really require that for a holiday near the ocean/beach. The staff are helpful and were quick to please. Special thanks to Sonja!
