"Better than expected!"
The first thing we heard was, "welcome! We've been expecting you!" It is a lovely restored home just blocks from shopping and restaurants. The area is perfect! I wish I has discovered this place years ago!Genuine Expedia guest review
This B&B is in a convenient location and is easy to find. Be careful pulling in the driveway or you will shear off the front of your car! There's a bit of a dip between the road and the driveway. The house is very charming and has that old fashioned smell to it. We were in room 12 in the rear building. The room is small, but what do you expect? It just […] has to be big enough to fit you and your stuff. I loved that the room had a gas fireplace to heat the room. It added an extra bit of cosiness. If you are sensitive about noise and don't want to listen to footsteps upstairs, you might want to request an upper room. Luckily the upstairs guests were pretty quiet. There is a huge selection of VHS tapes to choose from, mostly from the 80s and 90s, which is a real hoot! Where else can you find Better Off Dead with John Cusack??? Breakfast was delicious both days. First day we had fluffy pancakes with fresh strawberries and the second day we had french toast with a banana glaze. Fantastic! We enjoyed our stay at Pacific Grove Inn. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great each day. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. I was a bit disappointed with the room decor. It was a bit shabby and could have been more inviting. Otherwise, we liked it and would stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very comfortable and friendly B&B, with super breakfast. Be aware of road noise accompanying bedrooms on the Forest Road side of the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was decent. It was nice to be able to ask the chef to cook eggs to your liking. The bed was very comfortable. The main issue is that the bathroom and room smelled a little musty and the grout in shower walls was stained. The window frame in the bathroom was dirty as well. It would also have been […] nice to have a desk in the room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Especially nice to share a morning conversation with other guests while an employee prepared breakfast...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We spent only one night there. We both enjoyed the historical photographs that decorate the hotel. I liked the high ceilings in our bedroom and the fact that a lot of the woodwork has been well restored. The bed and the pillows were very comfortable. The warm towel rails in the bathroom were much appreciated. I would however not call the tub a bath […] tub unless it is for a very short human being less than 3 ft tall. It functions well a a shower. The breakfast was delicious and made to order A charming hotel! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice, but dormers are hard"
The Inn is cute but on a busy street. Front rooms like the one we had have street noise. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff were very friendly. The dormer room that we had and the other couple we were with was claustaphobic and difficult to relax in. The dormer room was very small with only one small chair against a dormer to sit in. The fireplace […] was basically within 1 foot of the bed and was more of heater than a fireplace. Ceilings were low and difficult to maneuver around. Other rooms looked nicer. I would suggest that if you are taken to a dormer room on the third floor you ask for a different room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Affordable in downtown"
The hotel consists of two lovely Victorians. Our stay included a generous glass of wine with cheese and fruit late afternoon, coffee and tea 24 hours, endless ice ( perfect to cool our beer in our personal cooler), and a delicious cooked-to-order breakfast. Free wi-if and parking made this b&b in downtown a delight. We were within walking distance of […] the local museum as well as the Monterey Aquarium. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Cosy bed and breakfast with outstanding breakfast"
I enjoy my stay because it was close to restaurants and shops but still I felt I was slightly away from major attractions. The breakfast was outstanding with a chef preparing food for you. Pancakes were great. Our room was cosy with a fireplace in bedroom and sitting room as well. Highly recommend this BBGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff was wonderful, moving us from a room close to the street to an upper floor room that had less street noise. Great breakfast. Convenient location to Monterrey, 17 mile drive to Carmel, and close excellent restaurant (Passionfish). Building had antique oak throughout and much original hardware and old photos.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay and wish our other B&B's in other cities on our trip had been as nice. Jim was especially kind and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and our bed was most comfortable. I would recommend this B&B to everyone. If you cannot handle stairs, ask for first floor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very cute and comfortable bed & breakfast!"
This was our first Bed & Breakfast experience, and we loved the intimate setting and history of the house. The location was very close to great restaurants and the neighborhood felt very safe to walk around in. The room was extremely comfortable and homely (the new tempurpedic beds were great!). They also have a great selection of movies on VHS that […] you can borrow and watch in your room (mostly 1990s). The breakfast was fantastic as well with freshly made dishes by a cook which changes each day. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to everyone! Nice place to stay for a day or a week. Lots of things to see and do in the area. Wonderful restaurants nearby. Room was very clean and quiet at night. I would suggest requesting the top floor in either building to keep noise from above at a minimum. Heating from the gas-fired fireplace was a nice touch. The TV might need updating, but operated okay. […] Overall, a wonderful place to stay and we will certainly return in the future. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

A wonderful stay, spoiled unfortunately by noise from the people in the rooms above and next to us.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pacific Grove Inn"
This is our favorite Inn in the Monterey area. Very good value for the money and a great "Inn" experience without breaking the bank. You might find fancier, but for us it is just what we want. Very nice breakfast and pleasant staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"relaxing & great location"
Loved my stay for a mid-week break. There was a lot of privacy & it was quiet except for the usual small downtown sounds. My only comment is I really wanted a coffee pot in my room. I didn't like going downstairs, across the yard & into the main house for hot water. It is dog friendly too which is cool. I will go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This home was built in 1904, and converted to a B&B about 25 years ago. Location is convenient to Monterey, Carmel, and Big Sur. The history of the building and the area is fascinating. We enjoyed the afternoon complimentary happy hour and the opportunity to visit with some of the other guests. The staff was very accommodating. Breakfasts were prepared […] by a local chef, which was a pleasing experience. All 6 of us in our group would do a repeat visit here. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Tempurpedic beds and cookies? Yes please"
When we arrived, we were offered a glass of wine. Then we were told that the beds had just been replaced with tempurpedics. These were good signs. "Friday Night in Pacific Grove"
I lived in Pacific Grove for two summers in the mid-1970's while I was a student at UCSC. I was enchanted by the by the colors, the contrasts, the beauty of the geography and the architecture of the city. My wife and I occasionally visit the area. Sometimes we stay in Inns. Other times in hotels. We decided to try a new spot on a recent visit. Regrettably, […] I was disappointed by the Pacific Grove Inn. The location was on a wide, uninviting street. The Inn's furnishings and colors were drab. The rugs worn and faded. We paid a premium rate for a third floor room that was once an attic. The ceiling was canted and low. The windows were tiny. The breadfast was good. But since we could have stayed at a modern hotel for a much more reasonable rate it hardly justified the price for the Inn. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Peace and quiet"
Very comfortable bed and conveniently located. The fireplace made for great ambience. The only issue was no hot water caused by a broken water heater. Otherwise, beats any regular hotel. Your significant other will say it was a great choice.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Good location away from crowds"
I thought that the staff was very professional, helpful and courteous. It was a convenient location to walk to Asilomar and down to the Wharf. The 2nd day breakfast was a little overdone (7.26.13) but the other two very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wish I could give a better review."
The house is charming in a cute historical neighborhood, the room was cozy. We brought our little dog and since they allow dogs (but for an extra $25 per night while other pet friendly places charge $20) we were prepared for a room that perhaps smelled of dogs...but there was no such smell. What was overwhelming was the smell of mold. We ended up leaving […] our windows wide open the entire 4 night stay, even when we left for outings. It helped a bit. What was worse was the smell of the pillows and shams..like dirty heads/hair. Went down immediately and got new pillowcases but it didn't help much. The bed was comfortable, a little soft but ok. The tub took 24 hours to drain after two showers each morning. They said they had just done plumbing work so I don't know what was wrong. Toilet flushed fine. Would have been ok for 1 night, 4 was pushing my sinuses to the max. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location - friendly staff"
This hotel has two nice Victorian era homes and a friendly staff. As in many facilities from this era, our room was on the small side, but quite comfortable. They do a nice breakfast and lovely touches like a wine and cheese hour and cookies in the evening.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Best cookies and breakfast!"
The staff was so friendly and helpful. We could walk to Fandangos. On the walk back to the Inn we were accompanied by three deer. Very exciting. The bed and bedding were cozy and the room became very quiet after dark. This made for a great nights sleepGenuine Expedia guest review

"aquarium and beach only minutes away"
When we arrived, the room was smaller than we expected. However, the room was very clean and cozy, with a gas fireplace for chilly nights. The staff was very friendly and helpful and was actually able to help us purchase tickets for the Monterey Bay aquarium at the inn, which allowed us to skip the line when we arrived at the aquarium. The Pacific Grove […] Natural History Museum was only a couple of blocks away, on our walk to a beautiful beach called Lover's Point where I proposed to my fiance. Breakfast was a great experience, with coffee and tea, fruit and toast placed out buffet-style, and a chef who took our order for one of three options each morning. At night there were fresh-baked cookies to take up to our room and enjoy with a movie. All said it was a very nice inn and definitely one which we will choose the next time we visit. "a bit far from the cannery tourist area"
we were given a very small and awkward room around the corner below the staircase at the back of the outhouse, which is very disappointing. The staff and breakfast were very nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient & quiet"
The Pacific Grove Inn is easy to get to with plenty of off street parking. The rooms are very quiet - we never heard anyone and there were four other couples staying that evening.
