We were very happy with our recent stay in April at the Island Inn. We stayed in the Kimball building in a room with a queen bed. It was very clean and nicely decorated. The inn has it's own private beach that offers great shelling this time of year. It also has an outdoor pool and a restaurant on site. Our building had a very large game room with tables […] filled with puzzles and an upstairs deck with tables and chairs that overlooked the ocean. The office building has a computer room with a small library. A complimentary breakfast is served, but it only consists of hard boiled eggs, juice, coffee, fruit and assorted pastries. I would have preferred if they offered some bagels and cream cheese in place of the donuts. The inn is conveniently located to various restaurants, attractions and public beaches. Wonderful small resort setting. They even planned an Easter egg hunt with prizes for the children during the holiday. All requests were met with a smile. Very comfortable beds, large rooms. Enjoyed the pool and short walk to nice beach. Would recommend highly. Was expensive, but given location during Spring Break, that was typical.

We wanted a 2nd-floor room but were assigned 1st floor, so had people walking by our windows on 2 sides during the day. Room was spacious but had no easy chairs or end tables with lamps where one could sit and read or watch TV at night. (Had to sit on beds to watch TV.) Place was nice/people were nice...the room was horrible; dark/danky/cramped...no desk; no chairs to watch TV; no view. My confirmation said Gulfview. View was of the driveway and some weeds. Great beach location with a vibe that makes you just want to enjoy it. Overall our room was good but some furnishings were not particularly comfortable (the sofa was awful and there was no chair) and the suite layout was a bit odd. (things like no table in a "Kitchen suite" ). Not a big deal unless you hit a cool rainy spell and couldn't use the patio […] and wanted to sit in and read. We spent most of our time on the beach but bikes are available and many people were out exploring the area. A Nice Place for a Weekend at the Beach The Island Inn was nicely located on the beach at Sanibel Island. The room was spacious and clean; however, the lighting, especially for reading, was inadequate. The staff was accomodating and friendly.

We had a wonderful one-night visit at the Island Inn, and we will be back. The room was clean, though not fancy, and (very slightly) musty because we were on the first floor. The wifi connection was good but not super-fast. The staff is *extremely* friendly and helpful. The hotel is right on the beach-- we slept with our window open, to the sound of […] the ocean. Keep in mind that this is not a high-end hotel. It is somewhat rustic and feels very "Old-Florida"- with shuffleboard, horseshoes, a game room, and a shell-washing station and laundry area. The complimentary breakfast is continental-style- do not expect more than yogurt, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, and store-bought rolls. That said, it was fine, and it was nice to have a little something to eat before we went to the beach. Sanibel is lovely- next time we will return and take advantage of the rental bikes, the nature preserve, and more of the wonderful restaurants that are on the island. Read more

We chose Island Inn for our honeymoon and so glad we did ! :) Wonderful little place tucked back in a beautiful setting right on the beach. Island Inn was a throw back to the 40's or 50's. The buildings are old but nicely maintained and clean and comfortable. If you are looking for oceanfront condo's, this is not it, however the surroundings and location are great. We stayed in a deluxe double with an oceanview in the Kimball Lodge, which had a great view and a few steps from the private […] beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the sunsets were beautiful. Since we stayed in November, the rates were great. It was close to restaurants, which at that time of the year, had few crowds. Fresh continental breakfast was very nice. While we were out of the room, we came back to a broken A/C with towels underneath it which the cleaning staff put there. When we asked the desk staff what happened, they knew nothing about it. My wife & I spent 3 nights at the Island Inn while visiting family in Florida in late October. We came here to see how the Inn and Sanibel Island in general had changed since I was there as a child 40+ years ago. Island Inn is basically the same as it has always been, i.e. a classic resort on a large property at a great south shore Sanibel location. […] The island has been hugely developed over the years but the Inn still maintains it's old Florida charm. Unlike the neighboring resorts which all appear to be built right on top of each other, Island Inn has tons of space including lots of beachfront to spread out and there are still plenty of seashells to be found, especially after the recent full moon extra-high tides. We enjoyed our Gulfview deluxe room with a small screened in porch. Also liked the daily continental breakfast included which we typically took out onto the beach. Dinner in the Traditions restaurant was very good too. Overall it is a great place to stay and I hope it won't be so long before we return. Read more

Looks a little weathered on the outside, but newly decorated inside. Granite counters, FULL KITCHEN with full size fridge. Comfortable beds and great view. Restaurant was nice for dinner, but expensive. Mostly ate at other restaurants which are only 2 miles away.

My Daughter Decided for her 8th birthday she wanted to go shelling at sanibel rather than have a party. I definitely wasn't going to say no to that. We stayed in the Seagrape beach view cottage and it was very nice. Clean, cool, and ready when we showed up. It's a cozy cottage but plenty big for our family of 4. One room had a king and the other had […] twin beds, in the middle was the living room and kitchen area. The grounds are huge and have everything you could want, pool, beach volleyball, horseshoes, shuffleboard, grills, tennis and plenty of beach chairs. The also Rent paddle boards, kayaks and bikes. We shelled all weekend and will definitely be coming back. This place was very nice, you will not be disappointed. If you eat at traditions, the restaurant, skip the breakfast, but get the steak for dinner. It was excellent. Read more

We've stayed at the Island Inn before. This time their "breakfast included" was a disappointing donuts, fruit and yogurt. In the past it was a hot breakfast. Place is really starting to show it's age. Front desk people didn't seem happy to see you.
