Napolit'amo Hotel Medina - Naples

This hotel was more of a motel by American standards. By European standards it's a typical hostel. Naples is a city where you have to be alert, and the streets are not the safest. This location was definitely better than some of the other neighborhoods, but if you are not street savvy or easily intimidated this is not the place for you. While we encountered […] nor problems whatsoever there is a large population of vagrants who live in the park nearby and the streets are not well lit at all. This hostel is in the middle of a business area so while its prime for the sights, it’s not really well populated at night, For someone on a budget this was a good place. I backpacked for 3 weeks so I had to be budget conscience, and with the poor American exchange rate this is what I could do. If this was my primary stop, which it probably shouldn’t be anyone’s primary stop in Italy, then I wouldn’t stay here. Overall a solid 3 star hostel. Read more

We stayed on the 5th (6th for us Americans) and had a corner room with two balconies. We left the windows open the entire time and thoroughly enjoyed the roar and hum of the city streets below. Hotel was only a 20 minute taxi ride from the airport. It's on the 3rd floor but there were two lifts. We had an issue with the air con in our room which was irritating but we were only staying for 2 nights so we let it go. The hotel/rooms were clean and breakfast was basic but sufficient. This hotel is located on the third floor of an office building. There is only a small sign on the building wall (however this is not uncommon in Europe). The location is ideal within 3 minute walk of the old part of town with its narrow shop filled streets, 3 min. walk to the main shopping area (Via Toledo)m and about 5 min. walk to the Harbour Port. […] There is a bus stop directly to the Train Station infront of the Hotel and the Bus (Alibus) to the Airport is located just 5 min. walk away. Public transportation is very easy and inexpensive. Taking the Train to Sorrento takes about 70 minutes, where as taking the boat takes 50 min. Publoic Transportation is abour one third of the price of the boat. The boat to islands Ischa and Capri and take between 40 and 60 minutes. Train to Pompei is about 35 minutes. Public transportation tickets can be purchased in any of the many Tabaco Shops. If you are planning on doing a lot of traveling then it my be advisable to purchase a daily, 3 day, 5 day or weekly ticket that is good for all public transportation in the region. The Hotel is modern, clean and quiet. Equipt with a Mini-Bar (however a supermarket is located just 50 meters away). Staff is always willing to help. The breakfest buffet is typical european (a few cold cuts, cheese, a variety of jams, cereals and so on). From the breakfast area there is a nice view of the castel and a water fountane. There is free internet access (WPA code is on a sticker affixed to the pc). The area is realativly safe although there are many signs in the Public Transportation to be aware of pick pockets. Abbiamo soggiornato per 3 notti in una delle stanze rinnovate (al 3° piano, lo stesso in cui si trova la reception). La colazione era inclusa nella tariffa. L'hotel è moderno, pulito, in posizione centralissima (peraltro a due minuti dal capolinea dell'Alibus che, con appena 3 euro, porta dall'aeroporto alla piazza del Municipio) dotato di personale […] gentilissimo e pronto a fornirci (spesso con ammirevole pazienza!) tutte le informazioni necessarie per visitare Napoli e i dintorni! Se proprio dovessi fare un appunto, suggerirei solo di sostituire i cuscini, che per i miei gusti sono un po' troppo bassi e duri, per il resto mi sento di consigliare l'hotel a chiunque! Per chi ama girare, consiglio di munirsi di Artecard: noi abbiamo utilizzato quella per 3 giorni per tutta la Regione e abbiamo usufruito di tutti i trasporti (Circumvesuviana, Cumana, Funicolari, Alibus ecc) 2 gratuità e molti sconti.
