the Derby was awesome. Salmon was very helpful at the front desk and spoke English. he hooked us up with the best flamenco in town. the cathedral and castle we within walking distance and we were in the middle of everything. the upstairs terrace is lovely.

Good rooms and excellent condition of the hotel. Only issue was low wifi signal in the room. Wifi seemed to work in the lobby. The reception desk made an excellent suggestions for hotels near the area that were open on Christmas eve.

Hotel Derby, Seville, mid November. We stayed 4 nights in room 302 which overlooked the Plaza. From the train station Estacion Santa Justa, walk 100 yards out the front to take bus #32, get off at Plaza del Duque, look to your right about 100 yards & you'll see Hotel Derby. Big box store Ingles is just across the street with a supermarket in the basement. […] Starbucks close by. Exit Derby, turn left, short street, turn left again & it's on your left. Just across the street from Starbucks is bus stop where you can catch #32 back to the train station. Burger King & McDonalds are located just there at the bus stop. Many restaurants, tapas bars, mini markets & shopping all around. We particularly enjoyed a tapas bar across from the Cathedral. Don't remember the name but it had bulls heads & wine bottle chandeliers. Always busy. The Cathedral is a must see. Our room had double sound proof windows with a metal roll down shade for black out. Large bathroom with bidet. One English speaking TV channel. Weak A/C, coil spring mattress, friendly staff. Good location. Terrace with nice lounge chairs & tables. Had it all to ourselves. This hotel was right in the middle of everything. An easy walk to all the sights. We found the staff to be not so friendly, like we were a bother if we had a question. Their wifi service was horrible. If you are depending on having a connection, forget it! One morning the maid took all the towels and toilet paper (?) and didn't leave any more. Great location only a ten minute walk from the end of the tourist tram that runs along the main pedestrian area by the Cathedral and Alcazar. I walked from the train..... about a 25 min walk but quite direct and easy to do. The hotel is first rate and close to many good and interesting cafes for a variety of good Andilusian fare. Easy walk to all the sites and through interesting neighborhoods. It was HOT while I was there, but hotel AC makes it comfortable.

Nice hotel, centrally located, but difficult to find even with a GPS. Hotel does not have on site parking, but does have an agreement with an underground parking garage across the street for pay parking. Street side rooms can be noisy.

I spent two nights at the Hotel Derby in March, 2011. The hotel is very nice. My room had beautiful hardwood floors, a flat screen TV, a desk, closet and comfortable bed, plenty of electrical outlets, and a large bathroom and nice shower. Or, if you like indoor shopping, there is a large El Corte Ingles department store right next door. There are many restaurants located nearby, and it is a short walk to the ayuntamiento and cathedral and other sights in Sevilla's beautiful historic district. The river is about a 10 minute walk, as is the bus station. The train station is too far away to walk but a taxi ride costs about 6 euros. I highly recommend this hotel. Read more

The bed was uncomfortable and gave me a backache. Very pleased with the hotel BUT bed too hard for me. People of my age often have joint problems and/or sleep on their side. It seems all hotels/guest houses etc are ignorant of this problem, and in my view there should be a few rooms avaialble where the mattresses are SOFT. Otherwise difficult to fault the hotel and it s location.

There is policy of NOT SMOKING at the hotel. But all the room I was offered smell of cigarettes smock and each room had an ashtray. My husband has ASTMA and it was very difficult for us to stay at that property. Very unhappy with the stay.

Very convienent hotel- very well situated. SIngle room while basic enough was spotlessly clean.It would have been nice had there been an english peaking channel available on the tv. The staff were friendly and helpful. The central lcoation of this hotel more than compensated for what the hotel lacked in extras.
