"Easy walk to must see sights"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The hotel was clean, nice, the staff friendly and helpful, especially the Concierge. The location was great, within walking distance of many restaurants, and things to see in Amsterdam.

excellent location to the airport, service was excellent. Great to have a real "walk in" shower!
"Lovely staff, great location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
The room was very small and a bit tight for friends. It would be nice for a couple. But the room had a cozy private terrace. And the staff was wonderful! The two desk personnel we encountered were helpful, went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed for a great visit and made a point of having what we needed before we knew we needed it. The hotel was clean, the food just right and always a fresh cup of coffee waiting for us. I would return without thinking twice.
"Amsterdamm layover"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
All the major museums are practically next door. We had a 24 hr layover at Schiphol, so we decided to take advantage. For 4 euros each you can take a bus to the museum station which is only a short walk to the hotel. Great shopping and dining is close by. Trams and canal boats are also convenient. The room is small, but efficiently layed out. Very comfortable bedding and air conditioning.
"Awesome Location!!!!!! Very convenient!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Great location. Nightlife right outside your door, not noisy though, got great sleep!! Tram 9 stops right near to the hotel (took train from airport to main train station and right outside train station are the trams). Extremely helpful and nice staff and owner.

"Close to Centraal Station"
Hotel was close to major dam square and centraal station. It is was clean with the great view of the canal. Avoid going there on easter break as it gets super busy.
"great view, heated floors!"
the room had a great view of Amsterdam, comfy bed, awesome shower, heated floors, clean, stylish. the only drawback is that if you plan to walk to the city to sightsee its quite a walk, other than that everything else was awesome.
"Moevenpick amsterdam"
Good hotel with friendly staff. But minibar was empty and sauna didnt work
"Very comfortable hotel . . ."
The Moevinpick is away from the hustle and bustle of the canal belt, but it's easy to get there from the hotel, with two tram stops nearby. We had a nice view of the several cruise ships putting in and leaving. The WiFi was reliable, and easy to log onto. Our only complaint with the hotel is that the pillows offered little to no neck support, and were […] uncomfortable. The smaller pillows didn't help. Read more

"Movenpick in Amsterdam- great views"
The hotel room was very clean and had a great view however, the shower made funny noises and did a combination of hot and cold water at separate intervals. I believe the shower head was broken and could not properly combine the hot and cold together. The air conditioning also did not work and the only way to receive air which was not hot and sticky […] was by opening the window. Housekeeping was very understanding when we slept in one day and they had no problem coming to clean our room around 4pm. We were also given a free late check out until 1:30pm even though at check in, they offered us late check out for an extra charge. Do not fall for this. Ask late in the night before your check out date and usually the night staff are nice enough to say ok without charging extra. Read more
"Great experience at Amsterdam Movenpick"
Very professional staff went beyond call of duty for us with airline lost luggage problem. Nothing but praise for hotel, top notch in all respects. Park in the inexpensive P&R lot just 3 tram stops to hotel. Makes getting in/out of Amsterdam a breeze. Just 1 tram stop from hotel to central station, Easiest way to access hotel from tram stop is to take […] elevated walkway over road to building beside Movenpick, take elevator down 2 floors to parking deck, walk towards Movenpick maybe 30-40 feet to elevator, go up 1 floor & you'll be in the lobby. "The Moevenpick Hotel in Amsterdam"
The last time I was in Amsterdam, I spent a lot of time at the Muziekgebouw. I really like that venue - I love the unashamedly modern architecture of that building, and the ones beside it. So, when I was looking for a hotel for this trip, and saw the Moevenpick (next door to the Muziekgebouw), I knew I wanted to stay there. In many ways, the hotel […] lived up to expectations. It was very clean, very modern. The desk staff were very courteous when I was checking in. The room had an awesome view of the river, and the city behind it. I didn't get woken up a single time by noise, despite sleeping late a couple of times. But there were a couple of things which let the hotel down a bit. I was in a room with two double beds. I tried sleeping in the bed nearest the window, but the mattress seemed to have pretty much given out. The part towards the foot of the bed was a couple of inches below the level of the mattress on the bed next to it. It was just me staying in the room on my own, so I just swapped to the other bed - but I couldn't have slept in the first bed at all. While I was waiting around in the hotel one day, I decided to grab an espresso from the hotel bar. It cost 3 EUR, and was easily the worst coffee I had during the entire trip. The bar was kitted out with a pretty manual espresso machine - but the barman just didn't know how to use it. While waiting for my check, I saw the other barman looking up recipes for the cocktails that people were ordering - for this sort of hotel, I reckon that's a bit poor. These two guys had about four tables of people to deal with, and three people at the bar, but they seemed rushed off their feet. They'd be utterly lost in a "real" bar at the weekend. Having written all that, I feel that I should point out that overall, I liked the hotel overall. I'm not sure if I'd stay there again though. I'm not convinced the "good" parts justify the expensive rate. Read more
"The Moevinpick Hotel- Great location, staff, price"
This was a great hotel and has become me and my wife's regular hotel. I don't get why other reviews complain about its location, I guess they are to lazy to do a little 10-15 min walk to the water with a nice view to this lovely hotel. We were there for new years and the hotel staff was very curtious and helpful. The bar was great but the drinks are […] expensive which is the only downfall. Gym, sauna and massage therapy was good. Dam square shopping center is about 30 min "LEISURE" walk. I recommend this to anyone who isn't lazy and enjoys nice view and a nice clean place for there family. Read more
"Nice, comfortable hotel, but overpriced."
This makes for a decent business hotel about a 15-20 minute walk from the train station centraal Amsterdam, but nowhere near the city center as the name suggests. We were promised a king size bed with an additional for our small child. What we got were two twin sized beds pushed together and a couch converted to a small bed that was almost as hard as […] the floor. This was a disappointment considering the high prices we paid to stay there, but increasingly common for European standards. I would've preferred a full/queen bed that was whole. The hotel restaurant boast exquisite dishes and upscale fare but I can only say it was mediocre and not at all like the pictures on the menu. We had much better meals in town but when this hotel is far from the city center and no other restaurants nearby, we had no choice. Realize there is a Subway adjacent to the Cruise Terminal for a satisfying snack. Read more
"Movenpick Amsterdam - a real gem of a hotel"
We stayed over the weekend 30/31 Oct 2010 and were delighted with our choice. Superb, helpful staff took care of all our needs. The hotel is uber modern, which may explain why it is so quiet once you are in your room. For a city stop hotel, this one is very hard to beat unless you are rich and can afford the very best. Well done Movenpick!
"A comfortable and quiet hotel for Amsterdam"
A very nice hotel. We got a free upgrade from executive room to junior suite for all of our three rooms which was really a nice surprise. The rooms are very comfortable, spacious, and with a beautiful river view. About 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel to the central railway station / city center. The location is convenient and holds a distance from […] the crowded center with smoke. And, the breakfast is also excellent! Read more
"Moevenpick Hotel at Cruise Terminal - Amsterdam"
The Movenpick Hotel is attached to the Amsterdam cruise terminal and is extremely convenient for those taking a cruise. It is also within short walking distance of the Central Station, canal boats and downtown Amsterdam for pre- or post cruise enjoyment of this city . The hotel is of high quality and very good service but is set up to serve business […] travelers and does not meet the needs of families well. There is only one restaurant, the Silk Road, with a dinner menu that does not have appeal for children or teens. Pizza and burgers can be obtained only through room service. The breakfast buffet would cost $100 for a family of three (tip included). The bed for a third person is not a fold-out, but the top of a couch, rigid and unyielding. Our senior teenager, with many years experience of "second" beds, ranked this couch as the most uncomfortable bed that she has ever experienced. Read more

"A little bit of heaven outside the city"
There was plenty to rave about at the Moevenpick. Spent only one night, would stay again when we return to Amsterdam. Our rivercruise departure was less then a hundred yards away. The Concierge was most helpful having our lost (airline) luggage delivered to the ship. Great stay but too short.
"Oustanding Hotel"
Hotel was impeccable, easily accessible to city center and staff was very attentive and professional. Definitely recommended.
"Will definitely go back!"
On arrival the concierge was really helpful and polite...and when we asked for a room with a view they didn't hesitate to help. The room was spacious, clean and the view over the harbour was really nice, especially at night. The lifts were occasionally slow but we had no choice as we were on the 11th floor. The Indonesian restaurant inside the hotel […] has pretty good food (albeit slightly pricey) but the waiter service is again very friendly and no complaints here. I'd go back again without hesitation. Read more

"Great Service, Beautiful Hotel"
The hotel was modern, clean and provided great view. Must ask about parking if you drive. Parking at the hotel which, we were told was city run ,was $48 per night. You can park right outside the city , take the tram and pay $6 euros per day. Hotel is a good 15 min walk from everything. Not the most convenient hotel but we really enjoyed our stay. Heard […] concierge speak english, italian, spanish and dutch fluently! Read more
"no nonsense business hotel"
While I was on vacation, the rest of the hotel guests were clearly business travellers. This hotel is not super-luxurious in terms of over-the-top service but very clean, modern and the service was great. I would equate it to a nice business hotel near an airport in the states. I had no complaints about this place and would definitely stay there again. […] important to note that since it's more business-oriented, there is no real concierge to speak of and help finding things to do from the desk is a bit challenging, but that's what the amsterdam tour books are for. We didn't eat at the hotel but there are plenty of places to do that in Amsterdam or just down the street @ Fifteen. Read more
"outstanding hotel"
Hotel convenient to rail station and mass transit, great location. It was just the right distance from the hum of the city, but yet not right in it. Great location with easy accessibility. Morning breakast very high priced though.
"Nice Hotel"
Moevenpick hotel is 1 tram stop away from central station. It takes less than 10 minutes to walk to central station. If you rent a bicycle, everything is just easier. The hotel is clean, pretty comfortable. Most rooms have water view. The wireless internet is free. Only one problem I had is that the bath tub is too tall. And the tub is very slippery. […] So taking shower is a little bit difficult. But overall, it's a nice hotel. Read more
"Nice hotel away from the action"
If you are looking for a good hotel away from the smoking cafes and red light district, this is the hotel for you. It is not too far from the central train station, just a tram ride away. The hotel is newer and has a great harbor view. There were no restaurants in the area, but it was a great choice if you do not smoke. There is also a shuttle back […] to the central train station. The staff were very nice and helpful. Their room service is okay and could use improvement. Read more
"Excellent Hotel - 15 mins walk to centre"
I've just had 5 nights at this hotel. The hotel itself is faultless. I didn't eat there but I enjoyed the modern bar and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is located on the waterfront in a newly built complex containing the passenger terminal for ocean liners and the spectacular concert hall. I was able to walk with my suitcase on […] wheels from Central Station to the hotel in about 15 minutes. The area between Central Station and the hotel is still being developed on and improved but it seemed safe and there were people walking it and cycling it each time I walked it even at 1am. Read more

"Wow!"
Amsterdam is the last stop of our grand trip in Western Europe, and while the city itself is messy yet lovely, this hotel is definitely a wow! Finding our way there was a little difficult, as we weren't used to seeing something right there without being able to reach it (with the canals, bridges, and so on). However, once we were there, everything turned […] out great! The lady at the reception managed to let us check in immediately, which was more than welcome for people who had spent the previous night in a couchette car. The concierge was extremely helpful too. Not only were we able to obtain our I Amsterdam cards from him, he also circled all the attractions for us on the map and recommended one of the cruise companies to which we had free access with the card. The room was new, spacious, and modern with an excellent view of the harbor (we were on the 15th floor). The bathrobe was amazing (I personally was instantly less homesick in it) and the tea bags were nice. All in all, besides executing the essentials of a good hotel with precision, all the extra little things constitute comfort that was very soothing for people who had been on the road for a week. We even thought about extending our stay in Amsterdam just for the hotel! It's a pity that breakfast wasn't included, but I would DEFINITELY go back! Read more
"Great hotel"
The service in the hotel is excellent. I arrived in Amsterdam at 7 am and was immediately able to get into my room. Clean, comfortable. The only downside is the fitness center - not much there at all except for a few pieces of cardio equipment. The hotel is a little away from the downtown area, but is easily accessible from Tram 26 (it's the first stop). […] The free shuttle to the central station every morning is a real plus. Read more
"Poor experience for Asian"
As a frequent traveller in Asia, I fell disappointed about this so call 4 stars hotel. It's far from the city centre even you need to walk about 10 minutes to the nearest tram station where you have to wait every 15 minutes to city centre. The worst one is the attitude of the staff when they knew we came from Asia, it seems that we are neglected […] from their service. When we open the window in the room, we can see the office closely even we know what are they doing inside. Overall this is not a choose of stay in Amsterdam. Read more
"Modern Hotel"
This is a very nice new hotel. Make sure you ask about cost of breakfast buffet (23 euros), when you can get room service for less. Also inquire about parking so you are taken back by cost (48 euros a night). Overall stay was great.
"Excellent Hotel!"
We recently stayed at this hotel for one night while passing through and it was very nice! The hotel was very clean, the staff was very helpful, and we really enjoyed the bar and the hotel amenities. We would most certainly stay at this hotel again!
"Great hotel!"
Very clean, very modern, very nice staff, very close to central station and trams or even within walking distance to Dam Square or the red light district, if you feel like walking. Excellent hotel! I'd definately stay here again.
"All-around excellence."
Staff courtesy great, helpful. Sparklingly clean. Wonderful views. Supurbly quiet.
"Clean Hotel but lack of service"
We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. It is close to the city center and the most important thing it has a shuttle service to the central station every half an hour. The concierge staff were very friendly. But when I first came to the reception to check in, the person who gave the service was very rude. I made a reservation from hotels.com and I asked for […] the upgrade my room he said hotel was full. And gave us a room from the 1. hotel floor overlooking directly to a building. I had learnt later that hotel occupancy rate was %50. Not soo full wasn't it? And also the laundry service was a disaster. They offered to bring the washed clothes back 2 days later. Read more

"Great location for cruises"
We picked the hotel because it is so close to Central Station and the cruise terminal. It worked perfectly as a place to stay before a cruise and a place to return to before flying home. Easy to get to the airport or take a train from Central Station and easy to access public transport to see Amsterdam. Very comfortable and quiet place with free WiFi. "Nice hotel but a litte bit of a walk to the sights"
Stayed in this hotel from Wed through Sun morning. More than enough for Amsterdam! Nice modern hotel, well appointed interior and comfortable. Some nice rooms bacing the harbour. Bit difficult to get to though. It is about a 10 min walk from Central Station. You can take a tram but that can burn up 10 mins or more waiting for a one stop hop. So, if […] you are able WALK. That walks drags though after a night on the town. If you want to be really close to all the action and don't want a drag of a walk at the end of the night then 'MOVE-and PICK' another hotel! But for the young and sprightly, the distance should not pose a problem! Shuttle by the way to Central, is supposed to be on the half hour. It was difficult to get the hotel to honour that promise. Frequently is it running 5-10 mins late. Read more
"Mövenpick - Long weekend"
This hotel is located ca 15 min walk from central station. The hotel itself is nice, but it is a long distance to walk downtown. You can rent bikes downstairs in the garage which makes it easy to travel around. One negative factor is the elevators (4 of them) which too often let you wait for ages.
Hotel is in good condition and our (executive) room was very large. Unfortunately service wasn’t that good. Room was booked for three persons, but there were towels and bathrobes only for two persons. Third bed was sofa-bed and we had to call to room service to get bedding, pillow and blanket even if they knew there was three of us. Besides that, sofa-bed […] was also very uncomfortable and staff didn't bring there extra-mattress although they promised twice to do that. Room also wasn’t cleaned every day. Breakfast was good, but hotel tried to charge it even if it included our room price and we had to proof them that we have already paid it by showing booking confirmation! Read more

"Great hotel for city break"
We had a great stay at the Movenpick Amsterdam and rated the hotel highly for its cleanliness and polite, helpful staff. We were fortunate enough to be given an upgrade which was a good start. We did have an incident over evening dinner when the waitress accidently spilt olive oil over my coat when clearing the table. I felt it would have been wrong […] to make a fuss (the hotel was in still in credit with me due to the upgrade) so I accepted the coat cleaned and returned the next day. The room was clean and well appointed with a very nice coffee maker. Only criticism of the room was the mattresses were a little hard but that I guess is personal preference. The hotel is in a good location one stop on a tram or 10mins walk from the city. Overall happy with the stay and would use Movenpick again. Read more
"Lovely hotel - but a little remote"
Could not fault the hotel itself. Staff excellent. Lovely modern room. Great views. Best choice of TV channels I've seen in a hotel! Did not use bar or restaurant. Room has empty fridge rathern than minibar (what I wanted). Plus sofa bed. Only warning is about location which should not come as surprise. The walk to the Central Station is a bit of a […] hike - would say more like 15 mins due to the digging up of the roads near the station and the fact you can see the hotel but need an extra 300m to get to it due to the water. Not good with luggage or in rain. There is public underground car park in front of hotel. Shuttle bus runs every half an hour but only until 7:30pm. Only 7 seats and so you best book it. Tram is quick and easy (runs about every 5-6 mins and takes 5 mins). Buy a day (or multi day) pass from the hotel shop. Only restaurant nearby is the well known floating Sea Palace (Chinese) so unless you eat in hotel you will be going back to the station and then on from there on tram each evening. Hotel popular with cruise vacationers starting/finishing their river cruise so very International clientele. Would definitely stay there again but depends on price as this seems to vary a lot - it does get busy and so rates go up. Read more
"convenient location"
Thoroughly enjoyable, the hotel was excellent, within walking distance of everything you need in the city. Best hotel i've been to in 6 trips including 5 star hotels. Great value and I would be surprised if there is any better 4 star hotels in Amsterdam
"Close to city centre"
Hotel only 10 min walk from city or number 26 tram from central station. Tram stop directly opposite the hotel only 1 stop, staff really friendly and welcoming, would definately stay there again.
"Movenpick, Amsterdam"
Quiet location but only one tram stop from Central Station, food in restaurant better than expected, friendly helpful staff.
"Movenpick Amsterdam"
Excellent food, very comfortable room with a fantastic view of the port, friendly staff. I would highly recommend this hotel. The only minor inconvenience is having to book the shuttle bus in advance but it is only 10 minutes walk to the station and both the canal boat and the tram can be got just a few minutes away from the hotel.
