"Average 5 Star Hotel in Beijing"
We stayed at this hotel for business. The location of the hotel is good, close to major financial firms in Beijing. The regular room where I stayed is average both for its size and for its cleaniness. Nothing really impressed me that would put this hotel at the high end of a 5 star hotel list. "Hotel service is good but old"
Had a much higher expectation considering Westin. Service is exceptional especially in-room with turn down service by placing robe on bed, free water, additional card constantly to keep room functional, etc. it is these small things that counts. But hotel is very old and not well maintained. "Sehr schöne Zimmer, exzellenter Service,gute Küche"
Ich war geschäftlich auf der Immobilienmesse in Peking und während dieser Zeit im Westin Financial Street. Insgesamt bin ich sehr zufrieden. Das Zimmer war groß, hatte einen guten Ausblick, modernster Standard mit üppiger Minibar, Flat Screen, bequemem Bett, kostenlosem WLAN, topmodernem Bad etc. Es fehlte an nichts. Die Küche war exzellent, alle Mitarbeiter […] sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Super!! Spontan (halbe Stunde Ankündigung) organisierte man mir auch zwei Kurzausflüge mit hervorragender Betreuung, Führung und großem Wagen zur Verbotenen Stadt und an die Great Wall. "Convenient in the middle of Beijing's financial street"
Stayed here for a few days last week, was very impressed with the convenience and efficiency of the hotel. Check-in was easy, the rooms were well-kept and very large. Tried out the business center as well on the top floor, apart from a few young people surfing the internet (which didn't look like business guests at all), everything worked.

Before you read my comments, I need to state my caveats. Firstly, I am a long term stayer. In fact, I have continuously stayed at Westin from Sep - end Dec 2014. Or about 12 weeks in total. Secondly, since I am able to converse in Mandarin, I do not encounter the kind of communication problems with the staff that some of the reviewers were having. Overall, my stay had been pleasant and the service had been great. Certainly, my long stay and the staff's familiarity with me helps. They will let me through for breakfast without bothering me with the 'may we have your room number?', getting my newspaper and even go the extra mile of getting my favourite muesli ready, etc. It would have a perfect score except for some of the issues that I will mention later. Tips: 1. avoid Level 5; which is the gym and pool floor. I cannot imagine someone staying next to the gym. Perhaps the convenience is a good motivator. 2. enjoy the pool in winter. Few people use it and you will have a relaxing swim while having some exercise. Be prepared for slightly cold waters. 3. go to the club floor on level 26 if you are entitled to its use. A cosy and quiet place to enjoy your breakfast before the rush and busyness of the workday. But as a reviewer, I will then trouble you with my minor griefs; which when combined together could be unacceptable for a hotel of Westin pedigree. 1 No minimum standards for the breakfast at fruits and cereal selection. Staff can decide whether to cut the fruits or not. One day, the hami melon will be cut, another day, they will turn up with the rind intact. Same with the dragon fruits; which can be cut in quarter, one eights, or in slices. The size of the cut does not matter. What matters is I expect the rind to be fully removed. Not to do so is unacceptable for a 5-star hotel of Westin standard. I had mentioned this is a recent TripAdvisor post. But I guess we as guest can give our feedback for all we want and the hotel management will continue to do what they are doing all along. I am sure they will be able to more than justify why they like to provide the rinds to their guests. PS I have stayed at Hilton Garden in the States and for the lower price that I am paying (compared to Westin Beijing), I have four different fruits each morning and they are all cut. As for the cereals, the staff can decide what to bring out. One day, there is muesli and the next day, there are none. One occasion, there are pine, sunflower and hazelnuts. Next day, there are only dried fruits. I would have thought that for a 5-star hotel, the types of nuts, cereals, or dried fruits should be fixed. This way, the consumption rate is also predictable. For the way they manage, I wonder how they manage their reorder levels. 2 Cleaning habits of the chamber ladies or men. On a number of occasions, they like to rearrange my personal things. My pen, belt and other personal stuff (which I will leave on the table top during weekends) may be placed far away from their original positions. A few times, my Mont Blanc pen ended in the opposite corner of the table or about two metres away. Like all hotels, I understand that cleaning staff have a template to follow but perhaps, they should be taught to deviate in some situations like when there are longer staying guests. 3 TV default channel. While I can appreciate the need to reset the TV channel to the hotel channel, I still find it irritating. So, each time I switch on the TV even if I have switched off only five minutes ago, I will need to change from the Westin channel. I wonder why can't the hotel only do this for new guests? A touch here will go a long way.

Being a frequent customer (forced) to this hotel, there is a list of "negative" items but all in all, the F&B is my largest complaint that tops the list, esp. given how expensive it is. The hotel is a bit small, and it is actually not too convenient to go to the exciting city hubs unless you catch a taxi (but sometimes it's hard to get one). The service is good but overall speaking, I wouldn't stay there on my own account.

I enjoyed my one night stay here. Again I had the service from Henry at the lounge, it was excellent! I had two groups of visitors visiting me and we used the lounge at the top floor and it was quiet, we were served with tea and coffee and it was also very private! My father left his wallet on the desk table there at the far corner, when I checked 2 hours later after he realised it was missing, it was still there! The staff here also checked thoroughly based on the wrong seating information I provided. I also enjoyed the breakfast with freshly squeezed juices and I used the Gym as well. The hotel is showing some age regarding some facilities, but the service is very good! I also observed part of the set up of the Sunday Brunch, it does appear that they are extremely busy with it! Must be very popular with locals....

I stayed at this hotel for one night. The location of the hotel is good and the hotel in general nice. However I feel thet the hotel is not that good as other Westin hotels in Asia/China. In general the staff is not that service oriented as it should be and their English is not always that great. The lounge lacks character. There was not a lot to do in the lounge, but they still did not manage to clean my used plates. wifi works well. good SPG platinum recognition. The food from room service was just ok, and they forgot to add cuttlery and the soy sauce was all spilled over the tray. I do not like that at a 5 star hotel they put plastic foil over the plates when they deliver the food.... looks bad and there in condensation on the food. the pool is quite nice, however the sauna, steambath, hotbath and the changing rooms for sure needs work. certain things are broken other ones are not that clean as they should be. I am not sure if the bed is a heavenly bed,.... or if it is just an older one. it still sleeps well compared to Chinese hotels, but not as good as other westins. all together a good stay, but average for a 5 star and for the money spend.

Located in the western part of Beijing, in the middle of Financial Street, this hotel mainly caters to the business people. Still, it is not too bad a location for sightseeing. A short taxi or subway ride brings you to the tourist attractions. The hotel itself provides everything that you would expect from a Westin hotel. I especially liked the extensive breakfast buffet.

An excellent hotel. Rooms are very nice - clean and well maintained. Breakfast is very good with a huge selection of both Asian and western dishes . Buffet meals are outstanding and good restaurants within the hotel and within a short walking distance. Many attractions are close by. Hotel service is very good and friendly and the location is excellent.
"Medium-range stay, breakfast and service need work"
For an international, business-oriented hotel on Financial Street, I was disappointed by the staff's very poor command of English. Communication was a real challenge, especially at checkout, and the lack of understanding means they aren't able to offer you alternative solutions to any problems or questions you might have. This was a consistent issue across the hotel - from reception to the breakfast buffet waiters to the bellman carrying our luggage upstairs. Something to keep in mind as you make your decisions about where to stay. The rooms themselves are nice and spacious, but the external views are not great as there are buildings around everywhere. The gym is excellent. Breakfast buffet was very limited in its options, especially for vegetarians. Get ready for a lot of bread and butter and virtually no local options. Room service was equally average in food quality, which was disappointing. A very comfortable stay but definitely only average and not what I would consider 5-star by any stretch of the imagination.

I had the opportunity to stay in many hotels around the world. I found that this Westin hotel is one of the best I ever stayed in. The service and the massage witch you can get in the Spa is excellent, and the Gym facilities are very good maintained. As well as the assistance which you can get from all the personal members. Just go there and enjoy a wonderful treatment.

I would like to share with you my experience in the Westin hotel Beijing. My job brings me here to Beijing many times, and recently I had the opportunity to stay in this hotel. I must say that my impression of the hotel is wonderful. From the moment that you approach the front desk you have a feeling that you came home. The crew is very professional, and they are willing to help you with any question or request you have. My experience from all the services in the hotel is excellent. Room service cleaning and even the Spa and the Gym are very good. Don't hesitate, this is the hotel for you!
