"Average 5 Star Hotel in Beijing"
We stayed at this hotel for business. The location of the hotel is good, close to major financial firms in Beijing. The regular room where I stayed is average both for its size and for its cleaniness. Nothing really impressed me that would put this hotel at the high end of a 5 star hotel list. There was some mild odor in my room, not sure what it was. […] It is a non-smoking room, but I feel the odor might be from cigarettes. Overall, my experience with this hotel is ok. "Hotel service is good but old"
Had a much higher expectation considering Westin. Service is exceptional especially in-room with turn down service by placing robe on bed, free water, additional card constantly to keep room functional, etc. it is these small things that counts. But hotel is very old and not well maintained. The weighing scale is not working, one of the cabinets' door […] is spoilt, couch looks old and dirty, scratch marks in multiple places, etc.

"Third hotel in our recent visit to China"
09/11/14 jimger165 Glasgow, United Kingdom
Stayed in this hotel whilst visiting the very busy city of Beijing, second Westin on this visit although I must admit I did prefer the other a little, maybe it was due to the fact that that had been our first visit to one in China. The staff were polite and courteous and due to the fact it had been my husband's birthday three staff brought him a birthday cake up to the room to which he was delighted. The breakfast's and evening meals we had were plentiful and varied. The room and the view we had from the 22nd floor was excellent and in the evening this was quite a sight when the city was lit up. Enjoyed our trip and thank you to the staff for their attention.
"Comfortable Stay - Good Location"

First trip to China - used SPG points for a five-night stay. Like other reviewers, I was expecting some of the staff's English skills to be a little better, but most everyone we spoke with was very friendly and courteous. We got upgraded as Gold members and had a very nice room....clean and comfortable. Nice fitness center but the temperature was way too high for running on the treadmills for any length of time. Located relatively close to the subway which of course takes you all over the city. The breakfast buffet is quite good (Western and local dishes) and surprisingly inexpensive - compared to buffets at other SPG properties. Dinner at the Italian restaurant was moderately expensive - food was good, not great. Free wi-fi worked fairly well in the room. Probably will not be in Beijing again anytime soon, but if I were, I would certainly stay here again.

Hotel is very good, but the restaurants are really at the level you would expect from a westin hotel. The breakfast is OK, but the service is made by trainees who forget things you ask for sometime. it takes a while to get an expresso.

Beautiful hotel. Next to two metro stops so its easy to go and visit the city. Breakfast was really good, large choice of food, from eggs, fruit, cake, to noodles. They have a very nice indoor swimming pool. And my favorite were the hotel's toiletries. I forgot my shampoo and lotions at home, so when I arrived I asked at the lobby where the nearest supermarket was so I could buy everything I needed. The guy insisted that I should try their products. When I came into my room I saw they gave me 10 extra little bottles of EVERY shampoo, soap or lotion they had. They smell was great! I came back home with half a suitcase filled with their product. Like Ross and Chandler ;). I would def. go back!!!
"Good hotel but skip the two on-site restaurants."
08/26/14 nakorsakov Minneapolis
Overall, a good hotel with a very good breakfast buffet and nice lap pool for swimming. I would avoid the on-site restaurants in the future. The Italian restaurant served me undercooked noodles that tasted more like paste than noodles. Due to my business luncheon, I had to gulp them down to avoid causing a scene or waiting for them to try doing them again; indigestion ensued later. The next day, we tried the Chinese restaurant (also on the 1st floor) for lunch. The food was ok, but our last dish never seemed to be ready and we had difficulty attracting the attention of the waitstaff. Due to work, we could not take an overly long lunch break (just a standard 1 hour or so) and we had already eaten the first two dishes. When we were about to leave, the dish arrived and we had to refuse multiple times to pay for it and have it taken off the bill. This was finally done, but it was unpleasant and unnecessary. The dish was razor clams; it's not like we were ordering duck or something else that takes forever to cook. We definitely waited at least 30 minutes for it and the restaurant did not seem that crowded. As for the swimming pool, it is completely packed on Saturday with little kids. Your best shot at a good swim is if you go very early in the morning (they open at 6 am). Also, the shower stalls in the men's locker room and the wet area are very grungy and need a damn good scrubbing. I also saw some tiny black flies in one shower stall. Very unappealing. I didn't try the bar recently so I really can't comment on that. I have stayed here before several times and I have no overall problem staying here again.
"3.5 for great location, good platinum service, but needs renovation"
08/23/14 ilovemanhattanNyc NYC
The location is fantastic for most of the Beijing financial industry. But, this is yet another hotel in China aimed that the business traveler that has unacceptable service, because not enough people at the front desk or on the phones speak English. The service for platinum members is solid, with a fantastic club that has breakfast, nibbles and drinks in the evening. And, I was upgraded to a lovely suite. Unfortunately, the hotel is desperate for a renovation. It took nearly 3 days to get the temperature in the suite down to a level that was bearable even though I set the temp to 17C as soon as I arrived. There was a thunderstorm one night, and the dripping into my room at the window woke me up. I took towels from the bathroom to sop up the water and stop the dripping. The list: Shower pressure: Average. Front desk: Average. Below Average. Need more people who can handle English speakers. Bed: Average. Sheets/Bedding: Average. Towels: Below Average. Phone service/attendants: Below Average. Room size: Average to above average. Room service: Didn't order any. Bathroom amenities: Typical Westin, nothing you'd ever choose to use or want to use, as it is very drying.
"Urgent and major renovations are needed"
08/22/14 LLesq Singapore, Singapore
Arrived the hotel on Wed, Aug 13 for a 5-day business trip. Pro: 1. location: Name of the hotel says all -- it is located in the financial district of Beijing. Most of the major financial regulatory agencies are located within walking distance. 2. Service: As a Westin, it gives you what a Westin should have, but no more. 2. Con: 1. Room interior is bad: This hotel was opened around late 2006 and has yet to do major renovation. As a result of its location, it is a rather popular hotel which means that rooms are being "utilized" a lot. Probably due to such reason, SPG and./or owner is (are) not willing to close down portion of the floors so that renovations can be conducted. As a result, interiors of the room are not what you may expect from a Westin. Please find the attached photos for your reference. 2. Indifference attitude by the management. Point 1 above is probably something where hotel management has no final say. But, small things, like cloth hangers, are definitely something where management team can decide whether it is time to buy new ones. Based on attached photos, taken from my room, it is clear that GM really does not know what is going on. Was told that GM of this hotel is also looking all SPG (or all Westin) properties in the surrounding areas. This is may be the reason where s/he does not know enough about this hotel. 3. Made my complaints to the Duty Manager. She really tried very hard to defend her boss and her colleagues. I had to invite her to actually witness what I was complaining. Ironically, her regular job is manager of operation excellence. 4. It is high time of summer tourist in Beijing. This hotel took in a lot of local tourist groups. Unfortunately, as a business hotel, this Westin is not equipped, both hardware and software, to handle such a large number of tourist groups. As a result, the regular business customers became the incidental casualties during breakfast: food run out so fast where kitchen staffs did not have enough time to come up with supply, too many guests arrived for breakfast at the same time and there was no enough staffs etc. Conclusion: If your business is around Financial Street, then you have very little choice. Otherwise, there are ample choices!!
"Poorly maintained hotel with bad service"
08/19/14 Marc V Hong Kong, China
We spent 5 days in Beijing, mostly for work, but we also spent the weekend to tour the city. We were upgraded to a suite at check in (due to my SPG Platinum status). The room was very large with big windows and comfortable bed. The carpet was insanely dirty and wavy. There were traces of mold and mildew in the bedroom, at the bottom of most doors and around the A/C vents. There was a constant slight muggy smell in the room as well. We travelled with another couple that had exactly the same issues (apparently their first room was so bad they had to change). Now for service, we used to lobby bar and patio in the back of the hotel 3 nights in a row after dinner. Almost every time we had to fight to get the waitresses attention even though the place was not busy. They twice forgot part of the order and once brought us twice the order. During the weekend we arranged to tour some of Beijing (the classics). I arranged most of it with the concierge which was helpful (but offer outrageously expansive tours). He provided reservation confirmation with addresses all in English and Chinese. The door man who helps translating with the cabs didn't know places in Beijing you would expect him to know. We chatted with him and a Chinese colleague (for translation) and apparently they come from far away and have not clue about the town (cheap labor - vey frequent in China - but not what you would expect at a Westin). Simply put: bad service all around. Final note: we ate the Chinese restaurante
"Good business hotel"

Westin Financial District is my "go-to" hotel on Financial Street. Location wise a lot more convenient than Ritz, and the beds are comfy as usual. I love having coffee meetings with clients at their lobby cafe, though their food selection is small. The Italian Restaurant is disappointing - both on food quality or service level. The coffee shop is just average. Would continue to stay there for the comfort of the rooms and location, but would avoid eating at the hotel.
"This hotel is in a convenient location"
07/06/14 Stevenlin1988 Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
This hotel is in a convenient location, there is a metro station in front of hotel. The restaurant is tasty, but it is a little bit expensive in Japanese restaurant. They offer a really nice service. people can have many choices for the breakfast. Whatever tour or business, I think I will come back to this hotel again.
